Awesome video. I did the Vergete Grootpad in 88 from Sutherland to Ceres on a trip to CapeTown from Vereeniging. I left Sutherland around lunch time in dry weather and when I got to the Verlatekloof pass it started raining there and slipped and slided through the pass in my Volkswagen Beetle. As soon as I was out the pass the rain stopped and was dry all the way to Ceres where I spent the night before carrying on to CapeTown. Always have wanted to go back and your video makes it even more necessary to get there again.
I'm so glad I could give you a little nudge in that direction. It's a beautiful part of the country. The weather can change quite dramatically in such relatively a short distance. Be safe... and no sliding this time!
Hi Mark. It's such a nice part of our country, it,s so quiet you feel as if you the last person left on earth. You cant explain it to someone who hasn't been there yet themselves and as soon as its rained a bit, the most beautiful flowers pop out of this barren landscape... it's quite hard to believe that the plants have survived here for thousands of years only getting water a few days a year. I can understand why your dad did the trip many times, once you've been there you fall in love with this place! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and it's only a pleasure!
Well Juliet... this is the weekend, I see the mountains are full of snow again. Actually seeing the snow falling out the sky is absolutely amazing. We glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the support. Be safe out there!
