In this video, I go over some reasons you should build your own studio racks! If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments.

As someone who is both a woodworker and musician this is really my sweet spot! Making your own custom music furniture is incredibly fun and rewarding. I've found that most of the time making custom furniture is NOT a way to save money, but given how inexplicably expensive music furniture is it might actually work out.

Ayyy that's awesome. I think scale and "niche-ness" are the factors here. For example, I built my own entertainment center, which is about 7 feet wide, because the retailers were wanting around $2,500 for pieces that big. Standard sized pieces are usually cheaper, but the materials are also usually pretty whatever haha.
Studio furniture is of course a smaller market and specialized, so they can charge $1,000 for a desk that would be $500 without rack space and a cable trough. I am building a studio desk next and I expect to save probably $750 on that. Of course I'll film it too!

@@AdamSliger thanks! yeah i looked up one near me it's 200/month. hoping there are others. granted my housemate has a tablesaw, a 3d printer, and some other tools so it's more for a CNC machine and other stuff. don't need the rack just yet. but i do have a plan in the future (and a spot for it).

A table saw would more than handle it!

@@AdamSliger for sure! of course i wanna be fancy so a CNC would be a lot easier to do some of the designs and what not i can think of.

tip for those pocket screws, do them from the outside in instead of inside out like in the video. Stronger joint
