  • @mechanicobra

    Im largely in agreement with you on this but I do have a few divergences.
    Slaanesh+HE+DE is a definite and I'd mostly agree with you but the DE LL should be Tullaris Dreadbringer.
    Khorne+Orcs+Vampire Counts I also mostly agree with but would put in Ushoran the Strigoi King as the VC LL and save Neferata for the End Times.
    And before we leave the chaos factions behind, Tzeentch needs a 3rd lord and to fit with the other gods' layout it should be a mortal so at some point I think we need Egrimm van Horstmann added as an FLC lord.
    I really like the idea for the Southeast Kingdoms. The Monkey King, a Tigerman lord to represent Ind, and a Naga lord to represent Khuresh would be awesome! And of course Li Dao as an flc is pretty much necessary.
    The Nippon DLC idea is an interesting one, but I really think that Yin Yin should be introduced alongside a Vampire Coast character to represent the Jade Blooded Vampires of Cathay. So I'd push off Skaven from that DLC to the End Times as well and obviously the character would be Thanquol. I'd also leave Aislinn in the Eastern Colonies and move Lokir down to Ind since that's where he got some of his gear in canon.
    The Dogs of War are pretty much a guarantee to happen before the game closes out, its only a matter of when and who. Borgio the Besieger, Lucrezzia Belladonna, and Lupio Sunscryer are the lords I would go with. And Norsca NEEDS that rework and I'm betting Egil would be the most likely FLC lord if they don't get a full DLC. But if I had my way I'd make Sayl the Faithless the new Norscan lord to give us a chaos character that could butt heads with everyone. Also Norsca needs caster lords and a caster LL would fit perfectly.
    As much as I would love an Araby DLC I don't see them making the cut unless they're folded in with the Dogs of War. The ogres however do need a full dlc as they are missing plenty of units. So here I would do an Ogres+Beastmen+Bretonnia DLC featuring Golgfag Maneater, Ghorros Warhoof, and Mallobaude the Serpent to finally give us the undead/brettonian faction people have been wanting for so long. And as an FLC Id go with Bohemond the Beastslayer.
    Then for the End Times Expansion: if they're really calling it an expansion rather than a dlc and its going to be this big thing they're trying to say it will, I'd expect them to go a little bit beyond what we're used to with it. But to keep it with 3 lords and an flc I'd go with Nagash, Nefferata, and Thanquol. All of them are major End Times players and all could bring plenty of new units to the table. Maybe then I'd add Ghorth the Cruel as the FLC but the Chorfs don't really need another lord. They're in a pretty good spot right now. I also wouldn't add Maruis Leitdorf, as much as I like him, Boris Todbringer being made into a full LL the Empire would be able to have their trifecta of power in the Empire itself. And that's about how I'd line it up if we only got this many more dlcs.

    What I would like to see before the game concludes-
    1) Khorne isnt finished unless Arbaal is on the board. Skulltaker as an FLC, and Skar would be nice, but not essential. Those first two are a must though. Arbaal bringing Cavalry/Mortal builds, and Skulltaker somewhere between the other two.
    2) They REALLY need to give the generic marked Chaos heros and Lords their manticore and dragon options. They have these on TT no matter their mark (As well as one in-between I'd like to see! The Chimera!) and because these armies are often handycapped in some way (Speed for Nurgle, no magic for Khorne ect) they NEED all their other options and tools for war to expand their playstyles! It would be even better if they "themed" these mounts with skins for their respective marks. I have seen others asking for this as well.....Speak up so that CA will make it happen! BTW the assets are already in the game, so its confusing why they havent done so. Not to mention its lore/immersion breaking that they lose these mounts when they go from undivided to marked. As they go through a hell of a trial to break these monsters and form an eternal "alliance"/bond with them. They wouldnt just ditch them because their patron marked them.
    3) Ghorros for the beastmen!
    4) An overhaul of Daniel. Better yet, apply some of those customization features to EVERY faction.
    5) An army painter and alternative skins/helms/variant heads. Nobody likes clone generals.
    You pretty much nailed the rest.

    So if ye defeats a beastmen faction he can now recruit beastmen. If he defeats a norscan tribe, he now has Norscans. If he defeats archeon and so on he can make them his lords and so on. More customization as well. Give us cannon power level daniel

    I like the hope and possibility of more DLC's. I agree Legend's careful breakdown was useful to start discussion. Great idea to get player base actively discussing what they want and getting word out to CA. I may be overly optimistic, but with WH Fantasy reviving on tabletop (hopefully drawing in new players), it is possible there will be crossover of potential new audience for TWWH3 as well. Revenue streams + player enthusiasm would be necessary incentives for CA to develop and follow through on a vision like yours.
    One important consideration for game community health is support for new players and a reasonable barrier to entry (content management wise and $$). Your DLC buying guide is a brilliant idea since it lays out good information but still allows for player preference. Thank you for that. It seems to me that a community based effort will produce the win win here.
    Final thought, I can't help but notice High Elves in the first DLC! Even despite your stated opinion high elves (and dark elves) don't need too much rework. Well played. Watching Legend's video with the breakdown being so relatively few DLC's, I thought we'd miss out on the seafaring elves. Please continue to speak that into existence! Cheers!

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  3 месяца назад

      Appreciate the channel support mate. I agree there's some cross pollination to be had with tabletop but ulitmately the most recent DLC will dictate the risk profile to develop more. The community is in a solid place and will live long after the support is gone. As for HE, I"m happy for them to get 1 more DLC, but I do think it's fair other race get fixed first. However, the roadmap said Slaanesh next so it seemed the obvious pic.

    Firstly, great video man. A lot of hard work went into this and it shows. Great Job
    I have only three main things id like from future dlc plans.
    1. Rework of weak factions such as - ogre kingdoms, norsca, bretonia, slaneesh and khorne. They either need more lords or need a rework of mechanics. (small note but i wish bretonia had knights on foot that were units and not heros or lords)
    2. A grand last End Times dlc should have one end times unit for each faction in my opinion. they could break up the pricing like they did for thrones of decay but every faction should get a little bit of love at the end.
    3. Allow for lords like tody and slathroel to be actual pickable campaigns!!!!!! or be lazy and just give them as recruitable lords to their facctions like gotric and felix

    What I dislike is when every factions, gets everything. I know people were very fond of an empire- and dwarven-rework, but it also left a foul taste in my mouth. Something like high range, small projectile units like Deckgunners or Jezzails were unique and would promote certain play-styles. This is not one of many examples, but I want to say that giving similar units to a wide range of factions does diminish uniqueness. Since Chaos Dwarves the game is running down hill faster than I would have imagined and it will never recover, I guess .
    edit. I mean in terms of faction balance and feel as well as distinct unit rosters - those added options and changes to optimize your game are fine.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  3 месяца назад +1

      I actually understand and respect your point a lot. The weaknesses of a faction can define them as much as their strengths and this is something I fundamentally agree with. Empire and Dwarfs still are far from the most powerful factions in the game and they have unique options for different situations so I think they with overall made much more complete. However, a good example of what you're talking about is Sisters of Avelorn - they retire 90% of the High Elf roster and if I designed the game I would strip their magic attacks for raw fire attacks and give magic attacks to Swordmasters to give them a roll.

    • @Draxynnic
      @Draxynnic 2 месяца назад

      They pretty much already broke that with the Skaven. People justify the Skaven getting so much because of how many variant lists they had, but they were still variant lists that also had downsides and/or or options for friendly games with your opponent's permission. The core list had distinct weaknesses (example: not only was there a lack of flight, there was a lack of anything particularly fast - everything was either move 5, move 6, or a random move that averages about the march move of the rest of the army). Those fast Clan Moulder units were carefully sectioned off as a Moulder-only thing, and taking a Moulder list meant you didn't have access to some of the other Skaven strengths, but in TWW, you get all the Skaven strengths available in one list. They could have used a 'different factions get different units' approach like they did with some other races, but they didn't.

    It might be hopium speaking but I'm thinking Bloodline DLC, CoC style. Neferata for Lahmians, Zacharias for Necrarchs, Vorag for Strigois and Walach Harkon for Blood dragons, with indeed Konrad for FLC LH. I'm not so sure about Nippon/Ind/Khuresh tho since they don't have an army list, unlike Dogs of war, who had 2 LL datamined already.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  3 месяца назад

      I'll agree with that. Tbf, the concept of centrepiece models doesn't apply to total war and I meant this more in a content / super heavy perspective. Essentially, it'd be the unit everyone talks about for said race.

    • @Draxynnic
      @Draxynnic 2 месяца назад

      In budgetary terms, it might be - animating the Skycutter and getting it to look good probably isn't going to be simple.

      @@Draxynnic C’mon, gimme a break. It’s basically the burning chariot with a falcon infront. It’s not gonna cost as much as the jabberslythe, and it won’t serve the same role on the battlefield.

    • @Draxynnic
      @Draxynnic 2 месяца назад

      @@stilloading5652 No, it's not going to cost as much as a jabberslythe or some other big monster with lots of moving appendages, but it'd probably be more difficult than the burning chariot since the bird up front needs to flap its wings to fly (unlike Screamers that just float), and the whole apparatus needs to be animated in a way that reflects that (fortunately, the tether is somewhat flexible because the boat part floats on its own buoyancy rather than needing to be pulled forward to generate lift, something the haters often miss). The crew operating the Eagle Eye is likely to be more complex than the Exalted Flamer. And it'll need melee combat animations.
      Don't get me wrong - they need to do it. The Skycutter is one of the few things apart from the mages themselves that show that the High Elves are a race that uses a lot of magic rather than just being the Byzantine Empire with dragons and giant birds. And with all the effort they've put in for other races, High Elves deserve their one unit that can't simply be done by taking a rig that's also being used for at least one other race. But unless they slip the merwyrm in (and perhaps even then, the merwyrm would probably basically be a chonkier version of the Kislevite frost wyrm when it comes to animations), the Skycutter is likely to be the centrepiece of a High Elf DLC. Not the most expensive centrepiece (which is a good thing for those hoping to see it, given CA's likely belt-tightening), but a centrepiece nevertheless.

    • @stilloading5652
      @stilloading5652 2 месяца назад

      @@Draxynnic CA can call it a centerpiece, doesn’t change the fact that relative to other units in that are referred to as “centerpieces” like the Dreadsaurion, Jabersylthe, Mortis Engine and Elemental bear fill completely separate roles on the battlefield. There is an established use of the word “centerpiece” relevant to the game, for the frontline. Why is it center if it’s in the front? You most always need a front line, you don’t always need or have ranged weapons and artillery. Queen Bess and Little Grom are never referenced as centerpieces, as they are almost always on the periphery. Sky-cutters require distance and maneuverability, and therefore would be wrong to place in the center of the front line near the beginning of the match. CA and GW can name em however they want. The way you are talking about “centerpiece” Is irrelevant. I’m not being rude, we are arguing about two separate definitions.
      The Sky-cutter very well may be the fanciest and the biggest unit of the likely DLC (which I bet it won’t) that is contradictory to the definition of the word, especially when you a have a lord on the field. The sky cutter is no centerpiece in the way that most people playing the game define the term, relevant to the game. So you can keep talk about definitions of the word that aren’t relevant to the came, more relevant to marketing than anything. I’m gonna stay talking about what’s relevant to the game.
      Yin and Yang in real life and Yin and Yang in warhammer are not the same thing. No one in Warhammer setting would you expect to be referring to the real world understand of Yin and Yang. I’m tryna tell you something that even the artist you’re defending yourself agreed with. I’m not grilling your favorite RUclipsr it’s just the truth.

    I'm very sceptical about new races. There was hope before the SoC and Hyenas disasters, but even if things go well from here they've still let a fair few people go and tightened their scope. If there was any real possibility for races that have not previously been developed by Games Workshop, it was probably the first thing on the cutting room floor.

    I hope you are correct, all that content would be ideal. On the other hand everything could have changed with the recent layoffs and instability, but I hope you are right. There are completely obsolete factions that need rework, factions that are completely out of balance with respect to others, both in being too strong and too weak.
    The game needs rebalancing and many reworks.
    Another problem is the extreme disparity in numbers of legendary heroes with some factions having 3 or more and others having 0. They need to be included either within DLC or as FLC accompanying the content (without sacrificing LL in FLC). All factions should have at least 2 LH.
    Although your idea of content for HE is interesting, I think that instead of the troops you mention, what the HE will receive are merwyrms, they are in the game and there are three versions of them. The Chaos Storm sea patrol roster had access to them so the relationship exists and they fit into the maritime theme.
    I hope we finally see the Anointed d eAsuryan is my favorite generic Lord of the faction and I have been waiting a long time for his appearance.
    CA prioritizes pre-existing material and eighth edition material over that of previous editions and the merrwyrm came out in octave (and it wouldn be the third time that CA gave the same unit with different colors to the HE).
    Aislinn's position will surely be the eastern colonies or if they expand the map it may be the High Elves colonies that are there even further to the east.
    Dark Elves, it's hard to say what else they could put into them, the faction is mostly complete. If I had to theorize they could expand them using the chaos storm pleasure cult, but that was DE with Slaanesh favor and I don't know if CA would want to do that. Although certain characters and units could work, the druchii anointed for example. It is the only issue that seems to remain to be exploited by the druchii.
    The absence of LL is another problem, all the big names, even from past editions, have already been used, only Shadowblade remains. There really doesn't seem to be any content left for a DLC, even looking through other lists like city guard.
    Slaanesh, the biggest candidate is Masque, since it's eighth edition, and Dechala should come in one way or another because it's the only other Slaanesh name left unused.
    The elves, the three factions, need an urgent review because although they are better than some even more forgotten factions, there is a lot that does not work well on multiple levels. But there are many factions in that situation currently.
    Arbaal seems the most logical choice for Khorne and the Skulltaker as another LL. In general it seems that CA is aiming for 4 LL for each chaos god, two demonic and two mortal. There was a Khorne Chaos Spawn character who could serve as LH in the DLC.
    The greenskins have many units coming out although most are versions of units that exist (the three variants of goblin and orc that exist). But in terms of characters and troops they have a lot to choose from.
    Vampires, Neferata, the first vampire, the game has been without her for too long, there are other characters that could be LL from other clans as well (some could be LH accompanying the DLC), but Neferata is the creator of vampirism and received a lot of attention in End Times. If CA can use End Times content there should be enough new units for a DLC without many problems, otherwise I don't know what else they could add. 2 units is not enough for a DLC. Generic characters would be easy, add vampire lords from the missing clans.
    It is impossible to know what they will do with the Monkey King, lord of Cathay, propa faction? Ind and Khuresh, like Cathay before, are footnotes about which there is hardly any information, CA could do anything there (that GW allows), so we'll see, it has a lot of potential and those areas cannot remain empty forever .
    Nippon, the fact that the islands are not present is a problem, but CA has already modified their maps before and extending the map to the east with only water until the islands can be placed is easy.
    There is also the upper right corner of the map, which is currently unused and may be filled in when they expand the map to the east. If it happens, nothing is certain, but Nippon should be an opportunity to sell a lot and I would be surprised if CA and GW did not take advantage of it. Contrary to Nicho's argument, Cathay was in the same situation as Nippon, time will tell in any case. Making Nippon part of Cathay I don't see it as feasible and many people in Asia will hate it, but who knows my predictions are usually wrong (CA has games based on Japan and, saving the distance, it can recycle things from there). But to make Nippon Cathay with four additions, in my opinion, it is better not to do it. If things are not going to be done as they deserve, it is better not to do them.
    War Dogs, it's simple, one LL in Estalia and another in Tilea, both playable kingdoms, the others can go to more exotic and distant places like Cathay or the colonies of the old world. Personal tastes aside were an army that exited and Ca said that all the factions with an army book would appear eventually, as was the case with the chaos dwarves, which are another army that was forgotten. Borgio and Lucrecia are the most possible candidates for Tilea and Estalia respectively.
    Egil, I don't see him in Norsca, he is clearly aligned with Khorne and Norsca is chaos not aligned in a clearly deliberate way (they should have access to marauders with marks, both on foot and on horseback I think, in the same way that Beastmen have access to Marked beastmen, although not Khorne minotaurs strangely), there are other unaligned chaos characters who could be in their place. Crom and Sayl are both unaligned chaos and I see them as more likely additions to Norsca (which should be chaos tribes because that's what they represent). Both would start in the steppes which is a more interesting position than the already congested old world.
    Arabia, I would like to see the faction but I think we won't have that luck, the time to include it was TW2 and it didn't happen and it is impossible to place it on the TW3 base map. So sadly I think we won't have Arabia. This is where the additional DLC for Skaven and Empire could go, both still lack a lot of content.
    End Times, it's a separate IP and I don't know if CA has access, if it does there is a lot of material to extract, especially for Khorne (and Nurgle, but it's really already complete). The undead also receive a lot of content, enough for a DLC with Nagash and all the changes it brings. The skaven with End Times and the rest of the content could have a DLC exclusively composed of vermin lords. LL, generic lord y 4 or 5 verminlords units.
    In the end it is Slaanesh who has the most problems getting content for a DLC among the 4 god armies, but I think CA will be able to find enough.
    Nagash, Thanquol and Neferata are the three most prominent characters that have not yet come out, Thanquol was confirmed a long time ago, Neferata is very important and Nagash is a gold mine, the only reason they don't appear is that GW doesn't give permission and I don't see reasons for it.
    Taking into account the Ulric cult list from Storm of Chaos and that Boris will one day have a campaign I see Middleheim much more likely, MArius would be an interesting addition, but Middleheim has always been more notable in the background and has more units already created based on Storm of Chaos.
    The End Times DLC I expect units, mechanics and characters, but none of the abominable narrative that the End Times books brought with them, the worst that GW has ever written and an absolute insult to Warhammer fantasy, poorly written, nonsensical plot, characters stupid, endless inconsistencies, etc... That they are limited only to characters, units and do not bring anything from that narrative.

    I know is not popular but I would prefer the Phoenix King himself instead of Aislinn. Sea and Asuryan theme toghether with Finubar.
    And poor Bretonnia 😅I would love to see some love for them, at least some rework.

      I've thought for a while that Finubar has the potential to bring every other remaining HE character in a similar style to Marius. Finubar's bodyguard (Korhil), advisor (Belannaer), admiral (Aislinn) and representative of the god he claims legitimacy from (Caradryel)

    3-4 DLCs is still 2 years of support. Not many games get that. People don't seem to realize that all things must end eventually. Everyone is focused on what they want, and it seems to be really all over the place. Maybe we just get whatever we get. And that's ok. Life goes on.

    Marius Leitdorf and Valten as dlc would be good (team brain damage?) . maybe Marius forgot he's an elector count starting at war with Ostland in lore a daemonic assassin has taken over pretending to be the elector. later on, perhaps you get a chance to confederate Averland if they still exist or some bonus for retaking as the rightful elector. The southern empire already has too many LL's needs more in the North to make it more stable with so many foes.
    Boris as FLC with some Ulric units.
    I also think adding Decala in Kuresh with the Naga’s would be good alongside the high elf LL in the eastern colonies with maybe the faction effect being you automatically have max movement cap in the sea to make it more bearable. IND and Kuresh are already too much I doubt we get them as full factions nevermind new parts of the map like Nippon.

    Man, reworks are a scam. Some factions need a DLC pack more than a rework like Norsca, they really need an expanded roster.
    Bretonnia desperately needs a DLC too but yea, it seems unlikely.
