I feel like you would like "Girls' Last Tour" as well. It has kind of the same setting where the main characters, being some of the last people alive, travel in a world destroyed by war. As with "The Horizon" it doesn't have that much dialogue and is a relatively short manga. The story is more lighthearted and somehow cozy, but still kind of depressing. It is definitely not as dark as "The Horizon".

I just read it and Jesus Christ. The ending was so out of left field and provided such a bittersweet and simultaneously metaphorical, sentimental, poetic and hopeful ending. The last 6 chapters and the girl's backstory pushed me to the verge of tears 😭 This is a top 5 folks close to the likes of Monster, Punpun and Berserk.

I remember being there when the horizon was still being scanlated on mangadex, and as each chapter was released every day, it gave me something to really look forwards to as each chapter was super engaging! I believe it perfectly fits the ending of this series. He finally found happiness and decides to keep moving forward even after the road ends. A.k.a, he decided his future lies beyond the yellow brick road. At least thats how I personally see the ending.
The girl death broke me the most. After all the dreams they had together and the marriage promise...... It was really hard to move on from this manga bro

ive read berserk, vinland, and punpun. Those 3 are masterpieces and hit me hard but never reallly made me just cry. The horizon made me cry for 1-5 minutes near the end. Trully great manhwa. To be honest I forgot it was a manhwa.

Man, what do I..... I don't even have words. I am literally crying while typing this. This story really hits way too hard. I thought it is just 21 chapters so how much terrifying it can be. As I read it, it really started going up and up and up till the very end. The chapter where the girl dies was too much to handle. Someone dying in just an instant in front of you whom you loved. Losing someone precious just like that . And the boy still keeps moving forward. This story really gave a new perspective to how I viewed life before reading this. Such a lovely story. This is one of my top five now.

It's the experience for me that I can't express the loneliness of that boy after that girl is very depressing I totally breakef during reading that chapter the happy smile of that girl is so pure that i wanted to go and save them I didn't cry I didn't cry even in single anime or manhwa but u know I feel the feelings of that character that make me feel tooo depressed but I didn't cry even when I watch or read berserk or many emotional mangas I never cry but this manhwa make me feel the suffering the hopelessness and suffering of that environment I don't know what to say it feels very empty we didn't see the big picture in real life we just keep suffering in our imagination and we just create problems for ourself but just think how the two children are living they have the real suffering they have the real pain darkness there parents died at there eyes they can't cry nobody going to hear them they are so pitifull I can't find a proper word to describe it but try to understand they are so hopeless nobody going to save them they know and keep living I just wanted to cry but I don't why I am not crying my heart is breaking my mind is blank but why I am not crying the anxiety I am feeling is very different. Just one thing There are things in this world called hope
I never heard of this manga or the artist or even the production company and I just found it at a book store I originally thought it was a novel and I thought it was kinda gonna be boring and I was gonna be disappointed by it but after reading it holy shit this is one of the best manga I’ve ever read I cried multiple times during reading it this manga really just struck a chord with me and I honestly can’t wait to get the next 2 books

@@AdynW I don't have any particularly strong opinions. It was well done but very short, and lacked the benefit of giving the character's names, but what it did do; it did very well. Had it been a bit more ambitious and less vague with everything that was going on, it wouldn't have taken away from the metaphor, but given the mind something to get attached to rather than the abstract.

i just read it. i dont know why im not crying but i feel something empty inside the ending is bitter sweet. spoilers if you expand. spoilers: the girl dies after being shot by another boy and another other girl with him kills her self the boy keeps moving forward gets find by soldiers and joins the war we see him old and finds a couple who they become family dont worry nothing bad happens to them. It ends in the boy sailing out to fish and hanging out with the couples daughter and says our journey is eternal ending in a picture with the boy and girl running. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
A random fact: This story is split in 3 books and the last book has a double page with content from over 100 pages that sum up what the kids went thought in the other 2 books,so if you just buy the 3rd book you technically get all the books.

ok heres my in depth critique for this- this was very predictable i guess its sorrow dark sad blah blah but anyone with a little bit of literacy on storytelling could predict EXACTLY what was gonna happen i assure you there was not a SINGLE time where i felt like "wow didnt expect this" i mean its sad but thats kind of it punpun i think just has more build up and feels more realistic ad less predictable the horizon kind of just tried WAYY TOO hard to be deep and what not but it just dosent come off i cant really explain this in words but there is no like "base" for the messages to land upon the characters have the same personality of a cardboard box i wont complain much on that it is a plot driven story but my point is the "deep" messages really dont have a base of a story and no symbolism like the entire story is literally just the message it dosent a plot or anything outside of that like every and i mean EVERY piece of dialogue and panel only exists to purely serve the message which isnt even all that great i guess if you havent read a lotta these "deep dark" manga before then it will be amazing but like it tries way to hard to convince a message and thats its sole purpose my main problem is that it dosent try to bend (mild spoilers) any tropes like the evil strange man is a little child lover ohhh!!! who wouldve guessed that! and the girl refuses to go help her lover and just cries wow what an amazing heroine idk i guess its minor but im into stories that convince their messages through symbolism in a fantasy land and dont make it the priority 24/7 regardless of my criticism as a binge read its a solid 8 or 9/10 really depends on how good you know storytelling for me personally it was ok nice read best part it was short the panel flow was GREAT and art was also amazing best part it dosent have a lotta dialogue and very easy to binge amazing to me ill give it a 6/10
Its the only manga that believes and glorify God without any sinful tropes and it have references to the bible, like 'you shall return to dust' or something refering to God creating Man, and the lamb crushing the head of the snake, like Jesus died to the cross to pay our sins, and even more that i forgot, and oh and the thorns is symbolizes the romans mocking Jesus saying he's the 'king of the jews'. And etc and etc.
You're not the only one, I think guy is just a bit emotionally sensitive. But I didn't totally read this manga in one sitting so maybe that's the reason. Good read though.
