They say that a helicopter can't fly 90 degrees upward but we believed in airwolf. Kids back in the day, we loved airwolf series. The way it was destroying the bad guys was so inspirational for us. The music, the actors, and even the intro always loved it.
It was impossible for AW to loose, they should do a AW vs the Chicxulub Asteroid it would not stand a chance against AW, and then have it fight the Deathstar.
Oh, I loved this series when I was young, it was the best thing that was on TV in the 80's. Watched this with my older brother and dad on saturday afternoon's though when it first came on it was in the late evenings here in the UK. I was blown away when I saw the first intro. The music is just as brilliant as when I first heard it. I use to play helecopter shooter game called Fort Appocollipes on my Atari 800 XL computer and sang the tune as I shot at mobile tanks that fired rockets lol.
I smirked when the F/A-18 switched between the C and F models but I lol'd when it turned into the MiG-29. It wouldn't be Airwolf without the attacking aircraft switching between several different models during a dogfight.
I thought something looked odd! That MiG-29 was too obvious, but due to the general low quality of the video and the angles of the shots, I wasn't sure whether I was looking at a 'super' hornet or a regular one at various times.
The show was worst then that when it came to fighting realistic jets, i think one time they were suppose to be fighting F-15's and it showed a group of F-4's.
Designed and initially produced by McDonnell Douglas, the Super Hornet first flew in 1995. Full-rate production began in September 1997, after the merger of McDonnell Douglas and Boeing the previous month. The Super Hornet entered service with the United States Navy in 1999. Air Wolf ran from 1984 to 1986.... Here's some specs.. Performance Maximum speed: Mach 1.8 (1,190 mph, 1,915 km/h) at 40,000 ft (12,190 m) Range: 1,275 nmi (2,346 km) clean plus two AIM-9s[20] Combat radius: 390 nmi (449 mi, 722 km) for interdiction mission[168] Ferry range: 1,800 nmi (2,070 mi, 3,330 km) Service ceiling: 50,000+ ft (15,000+ m) Rate of climb: 44,882 ft/min[169] (228 m/s) Wing loading: 94.0 lb/ft² (459 kg/m²) Thrust/weight: 0.93 (1.1 with loaded weight & 50% internal fuel)[170] Design load factor: 7.6 g At around 155 nautical miles, or 178 "land" miles, the F-18 could deploy an AGM-84H/K SLAM-ER (Standoff Land Attack Missile-Expanded Response). This is a GPS-guided cruise missile that can strike both stationary and moving targets. The Air Wolf could be toast before it ever got off the ground.
This isn't forgetting Airwolfs speed and movement and bearing in mind when they removed the limited it was going over 2000mph and disabling nuclear warheads to mere centimeters if I remember correctly and one thing any helicopter has over most airplanes is the fact they can use negative collective and come to a stand still further adding to their maneauvorability* then Airwolf does have its own fire power and onboard systems that when I watched all the episodes I really think could ruval modern technology imo
The F-18 was literal garbage from day 1, which is why another piece of literal garbage, the F-16, despite having only one engine, beat it in the Air Force trials. Airwolf would fly rings around a Super Hornet, nevermind a mere F/A-18A or B that existed when her show was on the air.
Just for a moment u gave me a whole new mini film. Really enjoyed it. When is someone gonna take a great opportunity and get this revive off to a great film for 2015-16 . So many people like u are showing us with the basics how we can make old classics great again. I really did see and u made see a episode of a new Airwolf. Thank you.
It was a drama that I loved so much during my elementary school days😄 I could not see it on air, and I could not feel my heart all day long when I went to school😅
Only if a helicopter even today could pull off Mock 1! Even the fastest helicopter in the world today is slightly below 300 mph. I love this old show! I remember living in Big Bear Lake in 1988 during the airshows we got to see this helicopter in action. Of course, it doesn't really have guns coming out of the side and a cannon under its belly, but it sure maneuvers well and it is such an awesome helicopter! :P
For the inner nerds...what restricts helicopter top speed is the rotors. Because the blade moves at different airspeeds across its length (tips being faster than the hub as they travel a greater distance), as the tips reach Mach 1 the shock wave generated would cause immense problems...and since the helicopter is also moving forwards the problem gets worse!
@@stevecoops8025 It's called "retreating blade stall" and Airwolf addressed that in the pilot movie. Would it work in real life? Who knows? Who cares? But they addressed it and if you were a fan you'd accept it and suspend your disbelief instead of being an asshole.
I love AIRWOLF. I have dreamed about flying her. If I ever win the lottery I will build one. AIRWOLF beating the F-18's was awesome. She can not be defeated. She is Legend.
Thunderbolt 1000 Siren Productions you do know that this helicopter crashed during a thunderstorm killing all 3 passengers right? After the show was over it was used as a medevac chopper.
I loved this series but...….. some times the air battles were too easy and very out of time. like this one for example, it suppose to be Airwolf against an F-18 fighter but if you see carefully it also shows and Mig 29 Fulcrum witch looks almost the same as an F-18.
@vflskullangel Helicopters have medium range air to air missiles too except they also get the benefit of being low flying, being able to turn on a dime and much faster than a jet, as well as the ability to utilize terrain. This means they have a much easier time attaining lock on . This is the reason why they can attain a 5 - 0 kill ratio against fighter jets in military exercises. At long range helicopters have a even easier time using terrain to avoid a lock on.
@poiujnbvcxdswq "J-CATCH, short for Joint Countering Attack Helicopter, was a joint US Army-US Air Force experiment in dissimilar air combat between jet fighters and attack helicopters, conducted in 1978/79. To the surprise of many involved in the program, the helicopters proved extremely dangerous to the fighters when they were properly employed, racking up a 5-to-1 kill ratio over the fighters when fighting at close ranges with guns."
Last time someone said that, Vietnam happened the U.S. fielded a fighter with no gun, the F-4, you run out of missiles, you are defenseless. Later, the F-14 and F-15 came out and they retrofitted F-4s with guns. To this day, even the F-22s and F-35s have guns aboard.
i was so amazed when i was a child and this was my favorite serial, but now i always LoL when i watch it again and realize it was so ridiculous show......LoL
@SOLOcan Here's from the Airwolf wiki BTW "The stealth systems were capable of rendering Airwolf invisible to radar, as well as producing multiple radar returns." It also has a service ceiling of the 10KM higher than the F-15 and it shoots lasers.
I know this series could never be re-done with a different cast, but if they could redo the scenes in the air to air combat scenes with today's technology like cgi and so forth which could make the scenes much more interesting.
Yes the old "reused' footage. Less noticable when watched weekly but when binge watching - very noticeable. Anyone notice that one of the Hornets briefly turned into a MiG 29 Fulcrum?
No, it absolutely would not. The thing that makes Airwolf stand up to this day is the fact that the entire show was real aircraft flying with real pilots and clever editing. CGI always falls short in comparison.
@@XH1927 If your work is incompetent, yes. Some of cgi's technology work has been done right and performed well. Your opinion has been noted, but falls way short of being absolute sir. ✌️
@vfIskullangel Cloaked to rader is not some unimaginable technology. The TV writers used it as a hand wave to explain why airwolf can be in places it shouldn't. But whatever for some reason your trying to apply real life logic to a TV show so i'll humor you. Even if the f-15 could detect airwolf it would be difficult to achieve lock-on since a helicopter is low flying and can hide in the terrain. It's been tested, this is what happened when an F-15 tried to engage an AH-1 Cobra.
@vfIskullangel This isn't just my opinion, its US military doctrine. This is the reason why the army has a short range anti-air component despite having a doctrine based around total air dominance. Fighter Jets cannot engage helicopters with guns because of their low speed and terrain advantage and at long range its incredibly difficult to attack a helicopter again because of its terrain advantage. J-Catch is the name of the military exercise if you want to look it up yourself.
Guess you guys wasn't around to watch TV in the eighties then... According to Airwolf lore it was a superadvanced combat helicopter, fully armored and nigh impervious to small arms fire, armed with 2 30mm cannons, 4 .50 cal MGs and a rocket launcher, and capable of reaching mach 1 + due to its auxilliary thrusters. Y'know... Science fiction? Like Transformers? Or Iron Man?
awesome fighting. I wish some movie company would do a CGI movie of AirWolf. I think the CGI could do a great job at making AirWolf look like the helicopter is traveling at mach speed.
@vfIskullangel Uhh actually attack helicopters are extreamly dangerous to engage with fighter jets. In military experiments conducted by the US air-force attack helicopters could attain a 5:1 kill ratio against fighter jets. This disparity was so much so that the US military does not allow its fighter jets to attack helicopters except from beyond the horizon or from high altitude; in which case airworlf can use its stealth capabilities.
@vflskyllangel the F4 and the F15 were the fighter jets that were used in the experiment while Cobra's and Kiowa's were the helicopters btw so the f-15 probably would be the one going home with its tail between its legs.
Knight Rider, the Dukes, A team, all come out with remakes, nothing on Airwolf so sad, or maybe thats a good thing cause the 3 remakes i mention all was VERY bad.

No chopper can possess the ability to fight a fighter like F18-A. The speed and maneuverability of a fighter jet is far ahead of any chopper even it is equipped with latest avionics and arsenal and powered by twin jet engines.
Kevin Yang USAF protocol is don't engage a helicopter unless you have a missile. And you must do it from higher altitude. They learned that after US army helicopters beat USAF F-4's and F-15's 5-1 in a exercise called jcatch. Now if you give helicopters longer range missiles you have a homeland defense weapon.
it is the same speed difference that would make the jet less maneuverable than the helicopter. The faster the aircraft, the wider the turns. The heli would stop and turn on a dime, making it more difficult to hit, and it is a more stable weapons platform, making the jet easier to hit. Speed does not always win. (Navy Heli-pilot)

As far as missiles go, I'd think heat seekers might work against Airwolf. It has an engine. Most helicopters these days use gas turbine engines. I would think Airwolf wouldn't be different in this regard. Gas turbines put all kinds of heat out. Enough for say AIM-9 Sidewinders or the equivalent to lock on to.

In real life a Mi-24 hind from the Iraqi airforce did shoot a F-4 jet from the Iran airforce mid air while airborne
Crazy ! I'll have to pass this on to BMS team. LOL
wonderful music
Airwolf proved that weapons can be supplemented with synthesizers.
it is the same speed difference that would make the jet less maneuverable than the helicopter. The faster the aircraft, the wider the turns. The heli would stop and turn on a dime, making it more difficult to hit, and it is a more stable weapons platform, making the jet easier to hit. Speed does not always win. (Navy Heli-pilot)
If the pilots could take those sort of Gs.
hell of the RC skill
Del 2000 para aca que limpiando el que puso gancho al estudiante que ayudaba a jose en cafeteria y fue la maxima exelencia en lo cuatro años del leon el frente patriotico.
this is a bell 222 helicopter . special build with electronic systems and waepons .
That's true. And there was a flying one.
So beautiful.
Maverik vs string fellow hawk. Both would win.
Airwolf would just pop out a Sunburst.
jets can only fly Strat, airwolf can zig zag and turn shapely around and fly the other way or hover.
設定が嘘すぎる性能なのが良い
the airwolf is most strong and beautiful weapon in the WARLD!
