    • @rickroll9086
      @rickroll9086 2 года назад +11

      You’re wondering if amazing saves are typical of great players? Nope. Not at all. Adam is the best defensive player in the world. I mean, sure there are a 1,000 players with more ranking points and he gets smoked by national level women players….but none of them are as good as him at saves. All the great players only have 2 shot rallies because none of them can make a return like Adam.

      Would be boring. Most of those are either net shots or missed shots after single shot rallies.
      That’s why table tennis doesn’t get much tv exposure.
      Adam purposely lobs a lot of balls to keep the points active and interesting for the audience when he should be going for more “risky” high powered shots.
      Most rallies in table tennis don’t typically go more than 3-7 total hits.
      Adam makes sure they go 10+ constantly by lobbing all the time. It’s more entertaining for sure

    • @AdamBobrow

      Thanks! Here are some observations I've made: the short pips penhold game that the Chinese used to dominate for a while before Sweden had a 5 year winning streak in the World Teams Championship (3 times in a row... alternating years), the flat(ter) hit was quite effective. I think as the ball is bigger and spins less than before... efficiency, speed and timing is especially important. I still feel that they Chinese tactic of short, powerful strokes that include enough spin to help secure the shot will be more effective than a very high-risk, more flat-hitting game. While Mima-chan and Harimoto both use flat hits quite a lot (Mima much more so)... they both need varying amounts of spin in their games. In Harimoto's case, it seems like a quick-reaction... sort of last resort type of thing when it could be shocking or there's less time for a bigger backswing. I see Bernie, Truls, Lubo Pistej, half of the top women choppers and others do this fairly often as well. But who knows... you could be right. And thanks again! 8>D

    Good game guys. Was fun to watch.
    Just one question : Is it just my impression or I feel the game a bit slower when you Adam shoot the ball in the air being late with a high side-spinning effect to make the smash more difficult and then counter top-spin? I know that using the "weakness" of your opponent is part of the game but it feels like the "over-used"strategy. The way Yasya builds her game looks stronger than yours. You look more waiting to counter-attack.
    No offense just sharing impressions. At the end, it is strategy.
    Good to see you guys having fun. (edit : changed my wording a bit)

    • @botanich
      @botanich 2 года назад +1

      There are offensive and defensive players, that are leaning towards different approaches - offensive try to always be in control and make opponent uncomfortable with smashes and other and defensive just take everything opponent throw at them. And Adam is the second type, so he plays that way.

    i doscover Adam video recently not a big player of tennis table thougth i like to watch (not enough on TV IMO) but his way of play is super "refreshing" and enjoyable . i mean nowaday mostly u see the top match with players "refusing" to be more than 1meter away of the table and kinda playing same style (see the top 20 chinese/asian player if not top 100) ...
    not complaining its extra high level and some super nice rally of course but the best match for me is when there is a difference of style. thanks for those video!!
