Just so you know who you were watching, Wayne Shorter played in Miles Davis last great quintet, considered one of the best jazz bands ever assembled. Joe Zawinul also played with Miles and wrote In a Silent Way, title song of one of Mile's masterpieces. He also played with Cannonball Adderley and wrote Mercy Mercy Mercy. You are watching the grand masters of jazz. a little respect.
Weather Report was and still is the masters of Jazz Fusion. Check out their albums. Jaco Pastouris revolutionized the electric bass. Return To Forever, Tribal Tech, Pat Mehthany Group, and many others are the bomb. The Funk Bands back in the day will make you bump the rump.
Thanks, sounds like the same shit getting played over and over, but musically, there's a lot going on here. ❤❤❤ Listen to the drummer: I tried playing this in college, the drum chart was insane. Get that guitar. ❤
yo Rikk this is the 70s we didn`t go shirtless to be cool, those damm jazz clubs didn`t have air man and jazz/fusion kicked a drummers ass, just watch my man Pete go off.. this was one we had to put at the end of the list thank gawd but what do ya think dude.. we could lay it down in the 70s, so lets see some dudes today try and keep up without a machine helping them along the way, lol.. just found the Family so maybe ya`ll like my girl "Josie" by this lil band called "Steely Dan"
1:48.. for those that dont understand music or bass, those FALSE HARMONICS are SIIICKKK!!... So hard to play cleanly and accurately... Ive been playing bass 30 years, and I still mess up false harmonics from time to time.
“The black guy” that’s a legend you are taking about, the late Wayne Shorter.
Wayne is a legend. R.I.P
