1-800-drinkbleach I live next to Bartlett, it’s a town filled with expensive houses and taxes and really nothing! But it’s the little towns know one knows about! Every time I travel I have to say Chicago suburbs cause I live outside of the city and still people question where in what suburb. “They call NY the Big Apple” only the city has that nickname. NY’s nickname is the Empire State because of its wealth and resources. I guess the state was a bit of an empire back then too when it ruled Vermont (and took islands on the NJ side of the Hudson like Staten Island). Also the nickname is on every license plate, thought he would get this one

Avery the Cuban-American And the Big Apple nickname for NYC has nothing to do with apple picking. It’s a nickname given to the city by touring jazz musicians, because it was a livelier stop with a lot more chances for gigs - so it was sweet as an apple.
I don’t think he knows anything about the state outside the city. To be fair, the city and upstate are two completely different cultures, but if you’re representing the whole state, know at least a little about the state
Lots of NYC people don't own cars. Methinks another reason it's called the Empire State is because Rome is one of the state's cities (lol). But the Rome is also one of our apple varieties - and so is the Empire!

Indiana's nickname is actually "The Crossroads of America." this is because of all the interstate highways that run through Indiana. If you go to the City's capital of Indianapolis, there is a highway running in a circle around the city with over ten other highways branching off of it going in every direction. the residents of Indiana are called Hoosiers because of a popular business that started in the state. the business sold a lot of hoosiers which is a kind of cabinet. the state was so proud of being the center of this thriving business that it named it's residents after the hoosier in the mid 1800's.
While CT is the Nutmeg State, we're also the Constitution State for the Connecticut Compromise!!
