if you saw Jen and Aliona stream a few days back, they had the shadowheart writer as a guest, he confirmed they were going to be making a new game (they can't say more than that, just making a game) so it seems like Larian is already working on a new project
I hope it's something scifi, time for Larian to spread their wings and fly... to space! take a break from fantasy for a while. I know Swen made a comment on maybe doing something scifi.
I heard they might even be trying a new IP and do something Sci-fi. Either way we gotta wait like 5 years minimum before we get a new game from Larian.
Divinity 2 is a tough game to get into I agree, I like the game but I don't love it the way a lot of fans do. I'm the same way, BG3 is just so much more accessible and the quality and care in it's cinematics reminds me of old school Bioware.
I Love Star Trek, I tried to get into the MMO but I just can' seem to enjoy them, besides The Old Republic years ago. But a single player RPG set in the Star Trek universe would be awesome.
Larian obviously left and didnt care for BG3 dlc or BG4. Probably due to how sh*t Wizards are to work with. Im glad we got BG3 and its a full complete game. Wizards Probably wanted to turn the franchise into a live service mess and Larian said f*ck off and left. I ordered a physical copy of BG3 deluxe edition on ps5 that hopefully should be arriving soon. But thats the last BG content i ever buy. Especially if larian isnt involved. Good riddance.

People hate Wizards of the Coast so much that they tend to understate the importance of the lore rich forgotten realm setting and the arguably well designed 5e game mechanic in the success of BG3. No doubt Larian did a good job at translating the trpg rules into a pc game and creating an interesting enough story, but that's it. I don't think Larian is good at world crafting and designing game mechanics. Take DOS2 as an example, the magic system of DOS2 is mediocre at best, the spells of different schools of magic share some similar effects with different damage type, each school of magic only got a few unique spells that could truly set it apart from the others. And the world of DOS2 appears to be a bit shallow compared to forgotten realm, which is only natural because the source of DOS lore consists of only 2 or 3 DOS games. Thus, I predict the next Larian game wont be as good as BG3. Hopefully I am wrong, but probably I am not.
WoTC created their own competition when they cancelled Dungeon and Dragon magazines as the editors of those magazines created Paizo and Pathfinder. I would love to see some of the forgotten worlds that WoTC owns sold off to companies like Paizo where they would get the love and attention they deserve.
It was a bad release, as someone who played EA BG3, EVERYTHING NEW I tried was broken, only the part I was bored to tears over and had played a million times worked. So I start a fresh game... And mostly have to save scum bugs trying to get past chapter 1, I then get to chapter 2 and many of the chapter 1 quest ends wrong, because of bugs. I try to start over, get of the naut ship, go to the dying mindflayer and the effing game give me a later chapter 1 achievement for interacting with it. Do you know what the worst part is, all those "quest" that ended wrong at the end of chapter 1, none of the crap was actually implemented in the game, so it didn't fucking matter that they ended wrong. Never finished this crap and I feel L scammed us, with some hype worthy features that fooled everyone, like Manor Lords that is more a tech demo than a game. If BG3 was a book, I feel like they released the book with half the story missing, but the read before you buy part perfectly polished if you only follow a certain story that existed during EA.

I don't know what it is, but I hated DIvinity Original Sin and Divinity II, but I can't stop playing BG3
Divinity 2 is a tough game to get into I agree, I like the game but I don't love it the way a lot of fans do. I'm the same way, BG3 is just so much more accessible and the quality and care in it's cinematics reminds me of old school Bioware.

I played on PS5 and had zero issues. I never buy anything PC at launch they are always the most buggy.
It's easy to make a game which better then bg3, just make bg3 with divinity os gameplay
For Larian this is easy, for whoever takes over for Baldur's Gate I do not envy them, lol.
