    General Motors tends to market their driver assist features as luxury options, not safety features. That’s why they’re optional, not standard, unlike Toyota. That’s why you can’t get Adaptive Cruise Control on a Cruze for example.

    Great video, Tom! Really like the redesign, very nice. However, the safety features should be standard across the board, especially for those prices.

    • @normt5463

      kjscoleman Until the safety features actually do their job consistently and the insurance companies reduce our premiums for buying them, we shouldn't be forced to buy them at all.

    so would you say that for drivers in metro areas such as NYC, the inability to defeat the stop/start system is a dealbreaker? I can't imagine how many times the damn thing would have to cycle during a daily trip into Brooklyn.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  7 лет назад +1

      While it doesn't have a dedicated button, it can be defeated by going into manual mode (which is actually more of a range selector), or from what I understand, turning on Max AC or using a light pedal pressure at stop lights (something GM doesn't recommend).

      @@overtaxed3628 The US government has very heavy subsidies for oil and gasoline. That is why it is so inexpensive here. They are indirect, and built into the tax and other codes. That is why electric cars need a federal subsidy to get close to a level playing field.

    For fleet vehicle purposes, I am considering this vehicle (in it's fully loaded version) or the VW Atlas. I want my employees to arrive at their destination without lots of back pain, leg cramps, or other discomfort, at the same time have lots of USB/power ports so they can be working while in transit, and be safe in their journey, and fit at least 6 people comfortably. Some road trips might be quite long. So between this and the Atlas, any recommendations Tom, since you drove both? Thank you! Hopefully you will Review the new Lincoln Navigator sometime. As always, excellent video!!!

    The original Enclave/Centeime concept looked absolutely awesome, but GM dulled down the production car, making it porky and boring not fun and muscular. This version has more dynamic face, but from the side and the back it is pretty much as boring as the old one was. They tried copying the CX-9 style, stopped at those stupid ventaports and failed miserably as a result. Oh, that fan control ring at 4:38, look at these tolerances... Ditto for 6:58 interior panel play.

    • @babasan5411

      Shift manually or lower the climate control. The later is the work around my wife stumbled upon in our Envision 2.0T. But as passenger I found raising my side to 73-74° F trumps her request for keeping it on.

    • @Buc_Stops_Here
      @Buc_Stops_Here 6 лет назад +1

      Good point Norm T - that temperature request to keep it warmer forces the engine to run to heat the car . That would work well in cold temperatures.

      We did go for the Pilot. But since the upper two trim levels (Touring and Elite) both have the stupid ZF 9 speed auto which has many issues (Bad shifting, clunky operation), we opted for the EX-L which gives you everything you need, heated leather seats, sunroof, remote start, backup camera and a right side turn camera that comes on when you activate right turn signal. You can press a button and activate any time which helps during tight parking

      @joestuff8 7 лет назад +5

      Hazen Grass look at the prices of midsize suv's.. non premium. Then look at cars in this class. This car is priced accurately. 45k is a different class..

    • @HazenGrass

    • @joestuff8
      @joestuff8 7 лет назад +4

      Google User And a Volvo Xc90 STARTS around 50k.. *starts* different caliber of class as well. Acura MDX starts just under 50k.. again, *STARTS* so, of course you will have a different feel from the vehicles. Tell me, how does an Acura TLX stack up to a BMW 5 series.. or better yet, BMW 3series. Get where I'm going with this?? Different class and caliber. But, same size and utility. The Buick fills a gap from standard 3 row crossovers, the Buick is premium. Not full on luxury. Some one who doesn't want a Toyota highlander but can't afford a well equipped Xc90 can look into the Buick. Niche marketing.

    • @bruceboehm10
      @bruceboehm10 7 лет назад +4

      A base MDX is $44k. A MDX AWD Tech is $50k. I have a hard time believing a Buick is a better value at $6-12K more than the MDX; and that's before we talk about residual value and what each car is going to be worth in 3-7 years.

      well yeah the r8 is super fun and exciting for sure. This car, and other Buicks are about comfort and luxury. It's something Buick does really well and generally at really reasonable prices. Also, for a family of 4+ this is a great vehicle that has just about everything you'd want (space, comfort, luxury).
