I have been requesting Angelina with you guys for months. Great to see you finally discovering her! This girl is legit as it gets. This is just the tip of the iceberg with Angelina Jordan. She has been delivering pro level vocals since she was 7. She's just 9 in this performance covering the OG version of the song from Screamin Jay Hawkins. Not many 9 year olds know Screamin Jay Hawkins... I'm thinking it's just one. Jazz is Angelina's specialty, but her versatility is off the charts. She covers lots of different artists and genres. And because Angelina is new to you and maybe some of your followers, I am going to leave this little bio so you can learn a little more about her....... *Angelina Jordan* - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 14 - She began singing at the age of one and a half - At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos. - *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person. - She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old. - In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes" - When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need. - The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney. - Angelina has covered more than 120 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects and arranges the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else) - Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent. - Angelina has written three of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". This song was written by Screamin'Jay Hawkins and Angelina covered this more in the way Hawkins had originally performed it. Although not so crazy as Hawkins did. Also at just 9 years old Angelina worked with the band on the arrangement. I would say that 💯 percent Angelina is a child prodigy. Amen Stan, and He gave her bucket loads. In the first part of the video you see Angelina making notes on the band notes, then you see the conductor reading them and smiling. She was making changes to the score. She picks all the songs she sings, then she arranges them to match how she hears them in her head. Angelina may look like a sweet child and by all reports is, but she has her ideas of how she wants the music to sound. She is going to get the sound she wants and she is not afraid to let anyone who needs to get with the program about it. She is not mean about it, but she is firm. This young lady was invited to sing for Quincy Jones at his 85th birthday celebration. He heard her sing,'Fly Me To The Moon' and happened to be the arrangement he wrote for Frank Sinatra. After being around her for a bit he said Angelina is the best vocalist he has heard since Michael Jackson. She has sung for Noble Prize winners. She sang two Alan Walker songs at his concert in his home town in front of 10-15 thousand people at 8 years old. She sang in front 40,000 people in Seoul, South Korea for a charity for Children's vaccinations. She was 10. I have been watching and hearing her sing for the last 5-6 years, and I've never seen her show the slightest bit of fear or apprehension. Her tutor once asked her if she ever got nervous, then had to explain what that was. She says she goes to a different place when she sings. The fact she exists is as amazing as anything about her singing because, before Angelina Jordan, if someone had told me they've never heard jazz in Norway, I would probably have accepted it as fact. I know that's a pretty insular attitude, especially since I am from Europe, but I now know they have highly competent jazz musicians to complement what has already become a world-class singer and even an annual jazz festival. Barely into her teens now, she has unwittingly become an ambassador for her country.

Actually, CCR's is completely different from author Screamin' Jay's version - Angelina's follows Jay's more faithfully although her vocals are just - well - beyond.
She's channeling the performance of the Great Screamin Jay Hawkins, the original singer of the song back in 50's if I'm not mistaken.(his face is on the candle she's holding at the start of the video) And I must say let alone her age... Even the most seasoned artists we have today will be having a 2nd thought on tackling that spooky version of Screamin Jay Hawkins. But with Angelina with all her innocence just took that like a walk in the park.

The usual reaction when people watching her for the first time is to get catatonic, hardly believing that is possible a 9 years old girl sing like that.
You might react to her audition for Norway's Got Talent, "I'm a Fool to Want You", which she does a capella. Her other performances on NGT are just as noteworthy. My personal favorite is "Bang Bang", but "Fly Me to the Moon" "Summertime" and "Gloomy Sunday" are also remarkable. She can do Adele, Amy Winehouse, Lana del Ray, and you recognize the original artist's style but she makes it her own. I hope I live long enough to hear her when she goes full professional. I have been requesting Angelina with you guys for months. Great to see you finally discovering her! This girl is legit as it gets. This is just the tip of the iceberg with Angelina Jordan. She has been delivering pro level vocals since she was 7. She's just 9 in this performance covering the OG version of the song from Screamin Jay Hawkins. Not many 9 year olds know Screamin Jay Hawkins... I'm thinking it's just one. Jazz is Angelina's specialty, but her versatility is off the charts. She covers lots of different artists and genres. I will leave it to others to make suggestions to any of her 130 songs. And because Angelina is new to you and maybe some of your followers, I am going to leave this little bio so you can learn a little more about her.......
*Angelina Jordan*
- Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 14
- She began singing at the age of one and a half
- At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos.
- *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help.
Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person.
- She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old.
- In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
- When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need.
- The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney.
- Angelina has covered more than 120 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects and arranges the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
- Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent.
- Angelina has written three of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube)
In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a magical world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.

This song was written by Screamin'Jay Hawkins and Angelina covered this more in the way Hawkins had originally performed it. Although not so crazy as Hawkins did. Also at just 9 years old Angelina worked with the band on the arrangement. I would say that 💯 percent Angelina is a child prodigy. Amen Stan, and He gave her bucket loads. In the first part of the video you see Angelina making notes on the band notes, then you see the conductor reading them and smiling. She was making changes to the score. She picks all the songs she sings, then she arranges them to match how she hears them in her head. Angelina may look like a sweet child and by all reports is, but she has her ideas of how she wants the music to sound. She is going to get the sound she wants and she is not afraid to let anyone who needs to get with the program about it. She is not mean about it, but she is firm. This young lady was invited to sing for Quincy Jones at his 85th birthday celebration. He heard her sing,'Fly Me To The Moon' and happened to be the arrangement he wrote for Frank Sinatra. After being around her for a bit he said Angelina is the best vocalist he has heard since Michael Jackson. She has sung for Noble Prize winners. She sang two Alan Walker songs at his concert in his home town in front of 10-15 thousand people at 8 years old. She sang in front 40,000 people in Seoul, South Korea for a charity for Children's vaccinations. She was 10.
I have been watching and hearing her sing for the last 5-6 years, and I've never seen her show the slightest bit of fear or apprehension. Her tutor once asked her if she ever got nervous, then had to explain what that was. She says she goes to a different place when she sings. I am so looking forward to hearing her continued evolution as a singer. It is great now I can only imagine how much better she can get. The fact she exists is as amazing as anything about her singing because, before Angelina Jordan, if someone had told me they've never heard jazz in Norway, I would probably have accepted it as fact. I know that's a pretty insular attitude, especially since I am from Europe, but I now know they have highly competent jazz musicians to complement what has already become a world-class singer and even an annual jazz festival. Barely into her teens now, she has unwittingly become an ambassador for her country.
"Fly Me To The Moon" is a good choice and the video you saw of Angelina is a great one. I really like her version when she was 8 on the American show The View.

Actually, CCR's is completely different from author Screamin' Jay's version - Angelina's follows Jay's more faithfully although her vocals are just - well - beyond.

I still remember that I was shocked in a positive way, and I have ever since that time been a fan. A fan of a child. I wouldn't believed it if you had asked me 10 years ago.
I have never been interested in the jazz music genre , but Angelina's interpretations of old jazz music classics has "opened my eyes" for that kind of music for sure, and in a way "touched me".
