I saw them four times! The most memorable was in Chapel Hill ( my third time there for Superchunk ) when I brought the Driveway to Driveway 7" and they all signed it after the show. I was a kid and so star struck!!! Here's me a kid and SUPERCHUNK is signing my 7". Each of those folks talked to me for a short time before signing it. I went away with a MASSIVE crush on Laura!
i think every straight d00d did...she was kind of a badass without having to say anything, approachable but i never would. when i saw them she was the only one who wasnt trashed and this was post her and mac and he was the drunkest...and was just needling her in a way that kinda made everyone a little uncomfortable. they were awesome. i prefer the ealiest days...but everything up to Foolish is great. they seemed on the punker side of indie and really nailed their covers...introduced me to a Shangri-La's song that is my favorite now, kick Sebadohs ass with Brand New Love, and this video...fishing, rock and roll and a plume of smoke = good things. On The Mouth (not on this) is a classic, too. I woke up craving Shangri-La's today and that led me to the Chunk. Good on Merge for signing Reigning Sound...the biggest label Greg will ever be on! The man and band who resurrected Shangri-La main vocalist Mary Weiss's career in 2007 with the critically acclaimed Dangerous game. Greg Cartwright wrote or used older songs and backed her initially. Both looked shit-nervous on the Conan performance. whats being exhaled at 01:20? so may questions about this great video.
I was exactly the right age for grunge, 16 in 1990 but when I heard Superchunk for the first time, they were still called Chunk then, they blew my world away. To me, better than any of the bands around at that time up to and including Nirvana. I remember my first ever job interview as a dopey teenager where I kept my headphones on cos I was listening to Superchunk. Yeah, didn't get that one!
I tried to get a Superchunk-inspired band off the ground for about tive years, but could never find the right people. I was still in some great bands though.
That time I saw them at the 9:30 club with Bettie Servert and they played this....Mac switched places with Jon during fishing without missing a beat....
I heard about these guys not getting along, and having to rent two tour buses. Then I heard about the guys in Motorhead and having to tour in a bus in which Lemmy had just taken off his socks.
Their early stuff is gold.

Superchunk - one of my all-time favorite bands
The start of my life changing ... around 1994
Loved every minute of the 3 times I saw them live. Incomparably cool and genuine indie band.
GOLD!
Just my absolute favorite band ever!

These guys have too many good songs with like 7 views on RUclips. Oh well, maybe it's better that way when you look at the videos with the most
