Hi Robert. I guess if a dinner invitation came from Edinburgh, I would decline !! Unless of course I was dining with the "Brothers Parker," that is.

So, then - no dinner with the king...or the "nobles"... or pretty much anyone else with a castle! Great one! Thanks for sharing Scotland with us!

I read about the Black Dinner a few years ago when reading about my family ancestry… my family was allied to the Douglas clan. Scottish history is amazing! LOL

I used to inspect the gas pipes and meters in the castle. Been in every part of the castle. There's a spiral staircase that leads down to the extinct volcano beneath the castle. On the way down it, you can see the window the Douglas was threw out of. Below this is a wall from the oldest part of the castle. Amazing place to see wish I still done the inspections.

Game of Thrones cant hold a candle to real history! Thank you for a great telling and for the always great scenery! People didn’t mess around with obstacles or problems back then did they… just pull out a dirk or poleax! One of my favorite videos thus far, hope you don’t catch cold!

Dinner parties must have been very exciting in old Scotland! You don't have to pick a favorite but mine is definitely Stirling where I had 2 (not one but 2!) paranormal experiences while staying in nearby B&Bs. They were both a stone's throw from the castle and happened in different years. There are definitely some lively energies still there 400 years later. I can't wait to get back and see if I can have a third one ☺️ Thanks again for the great history lesson.

a similar episode happened in 1502 in Italy, by Cesare Borgia "il Valentino", son of pope Borgia and brother of Lucrezia Borgia, when he invited two of his frenemies and killed them (Machiavelli wrote " Descrizione del modo tenuto dal Duca Valentino nello ammazzare Vitellozzo Vitelli, Oliverotto da Fermo, il Signor Pagolo e il duca di Gravina Orsini" in 1503 and the VII chapter of "the prince", "Il principe", about this).

😂 “Scotch Mist!” I have not heard that saying for years. I got asked “With what? Scotch Mist?” If I asked for something out shopping 😂
Ohhhh castle, Witches stories, classic foreboding weather and atmosphere! This vlog had it all ❤
Oh and FYI, the stories of Witches with long hooked noses and pointy chins, errrm those Jamses had some nose and chin game all of their own! 😮

It’s a bit of a mash-up. I’m originally from Galloway, but spent a few years in Glasgow and then moved to Edinburgh 16 years ago. My wife’s from Edinburgh so I’ve probably picked a bit up from her. 😂

@@scotlandunplugged Thank you for answering. I myself am from Aberdeen but with an accent that leans more to Inverness -- my father and my mother from Fitty (Footdee Aberdeen) Scotlands first social housing I believe curtsey of BBC Our Streets documentary. However you certainly have a very pleasing accent.
