I feel like the name aeolian harp makes you think that it should be continuous, but this is not the name that Chopin gave it and I think that interpretations are more continuous because of the name. But it is very nice played like this.
What I like about this interpretation, is that it's mostly continuous. Many other performances either play it too slowly, or pause too much in places. This one is an exception, and in the few times that you do engage in rubato, it's always in good taste. You also brought out the melody and other accents in a clear way amidst the flurry of arpeggios. Congrats, Mr. Kharitonov, Sir.
Yup thats what I observed too...well there is really a tendency of interpreting piano to pianisimo with a matching rallentando then the outcome of the music becomes too soft...I like how he Played it and was very well...
I wish l could remember - word for word - the way Robert Schumann described the aeolian harp etude after he heard Chopin play it for him. But I cannot remember it word for word.
Another one of Chopin’s magnificent melodies. I don’t know how that man’s mind worked but he was an absolute gift from heaven. If he had lived longer I wonder what he would have created then.

Every single time I watch this video I get brought to tears within the first 20 seconds, it is such a moving song and it is played so beautifully. I know it was posted three years ago, but thank you for sharing this it's one of my favorite pieces of classical music.
Everyday day before I go sleep, I must hear this performance of my favorite Chopins work. Wonderfull melody, best performance and charming young pianist.
I can't explain how magnifique is this piece for me, so I think that is in fact the majesty of the music and It's possible because of Chopin & Daniel too.
I have listened to hundreds of versions of this song over the years. This is the one I always come back to. I'd love to know if you have a recording of this for sale somewhere? There will never be a better version.
Simply outstanding 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.... expressed beautifully with such delicate touch and flawless interpretation. Brought me to heaven filled with angels while listening to this 👌 I adore your musicality as it’s so profound, joyful, passionate yet not the least pretentious. You always play with such humbleness with respect and love to music 🎶 I have been playing this piece and though I can play it’s so hard to express the core beauty of it. As other pieces, your performance was such an eye opener. So thank you Daniil🙏🏼
This is gorgeous, and has already become one of my favorite interpretations of the piece. The flow with which you play it is absolutely exquisite. Bravo!
Truly remarkable and inspired rendtition of one of my favorite Chopin Etudes! Thank you for this. I so appreciate beyond words. I have to say this is one of the BEST renditions I've heard of this piece.
This is the way this etude should be played

I totally agree. Perfect tempo and flowing. Very good dynamics! Lang Lang plays it too slowly and with much hesitation.
I tried to learn this aeolian harp piece but my hands are too small.

@@roxannecheatham57 I completely agree. If the first beat of every bar is emphasized, then the long-lined melody is fragmented and lost.
I've been playing this piece most of my life, but hearing this performance is like hearing it for the first time.

I listen to this every day. It never gets old.
That "something" from Chopin's compositions lives fully in this interpretation. Thank you for giving us this gift.
Seldom have I seen an audience that is so quiet. It says something about how wonderfull this performance was.
I’ve rewatched this countless times. I would pay good money to go back and watch this live.

Beautiful - noticing you reach nervously for that F at the end makes me realize I'm not the only one who gets shaky and rushed during a performance :)
Like the speed and melody is delicately projected. Beautiful played, well done!
The best performance of this peice that I've heard so far.
Listening over and over again. I love his fingers. Butterflies. I met heaven while listening,
A tiny part of heaven is in all of us.
