You can't truly be a fan of Kpop until you get to know Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry." :D This is one of THE MOST iconic kpop songs and choreo of all time. "Sorry Sorry" came out in 2009 and it is what shot Super Junior into intentional super-stardom. EVERY single person and their grandparents in Korea knows this song and can dance the dance. "Sorry Sorry" is the one song that everyone in the industry knows and is practically required to perform at least once in their careers. This song is so well known and so iconic that it is the most well known Kpop song around the world and when it came out it became an international trend. Groups of people were getting together in 2009/2010 and learning this dance and song and posting it all over the internet. The song was so big that even an entire prison population in the Philippines learned this dance and performed it. You can find thousands of clips of groups of people from all around the world performing this song and even grandmothers have formed dance teams and aerobics workout classes around this song and choreo. It has an almost flashmob status. You can also pretty much find clips of any Kpop group or artist performing a cover of this song and dance as part of their standard rookie debut. Literally every idol in the industry, both boy groups and girl groups, has done a cover to "Sorry Sorry" at some point in their career. If you search the name of any of your favorite groups or Kpop artists along with the words "Sorry Sorry" I guarantee you will find a video of them performing this song on a music program, at an award show or in concert. As you might have noticed, Super Junior is known for their vocals and for their dancing. As an SM Entertainment group its really no surprise that the members are all amazing singers and dancers because that's just a fact about the type of people that SM selects to be a part of its company. SM has become known for its amazing vocalists and dancers and that is why its one of the big 3 entertainment companies in Korea and around the world. All of the members of Super Junior are really good singers, however there are 3 members who are considered the group's main/lead rappers -- Eunhyuk, Shindong and Heechul, However, when you hear them sing you will be left speechless because you will discover they are really beautiful singers, too. Super Junior debuted Nov. 6, 2005, so this year will be their 15th anniversary. in "Sorry Sorry" there are 13 members. I think this is one of the last MVs where we see all 13 original members (at this time Super Junior actually had 15 members, but Zhoumi and Henry are only members of Super Junior-M, SJ's Mandarin sub-unit, so they were not part of this MV or song.) In 2010 Kibum and Hangeng (the very first non-Korean Idol -- he was Chinese) left the group. However, right now they have 9 active members, so in their most recent MVs from the last couple of years you will see anywhere from 7-9 members, and in their most recent comebacks Such as "T think I" and "2Ya2Yao," which you have seen, there are 9 members. You should also look up the lyrics for "Sorry Sorry." Not only are they saying Sorry, Sorry, but they are also saying shawdy, like the American slang term for "shorty" like what a guy calls his girlfriend. Hey shawdy. :D The follow up to this song is "Sorry Sorry Answer" You really need to see the MV and watch the live version which is performed by Super Junior-K.R.Y., one of Super Junior's sub-units made up of SuJu's 3 main vocalists and 3 of the best vocalists in the industry. (Kuyhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung -- hence the name K.R.Y.) ruclips.net/video/we2-5WL-m_c/видео.html I think you will be blown away, because even though it's the "answer" to "Sorry Sorry" it has a totally different vibe and its much more R&B. You will fall in love I am sure. And if you want to see some of Super Junior's Michael Jackson vibe you should check out Eunhyuk (SuJu's main dancer) dancing to 'Sorry Sorry Answer" in concert. ruclips.net/video/mqTJz7ov0cY/видео.html Super Junior are one of the godfather's of Kpop and they have always been ahead of their time. They have such a wide range of songs and styles that they appeal to almost everyone, you just have to find your jam. When "Sorry Sorry" came out no one was doing what Super Junior was doing and the sound and style of the music was so new and trendy that it caught on like wildfire. And that's pretty much what Super Junior has been doing ever since. And they are still paving the way with new styles and sounds even today. One of their more recent styles is Latin infused Kpop and they have been working with famous Latin artists collaborating to combine Korean, Spanish and English to create a perfect blend of cultures. One again, they are taking Kpop in a new direction that has never been done before until now. check out "Lo Siento" Ft. Leslie Grace and "One More Time" Ft. Reik to see what I mean.
Yes! All what you say makes so much sense! It is amazing! I do think I got a glipse of it in the past around the time I was following Kara, but didn't really pay attention. What a ground breaker! They are amazing! I'm loving this!
Finally another SJ reaction. I’ve been waiting lol. Thank you. Looking forward to more of your reaction to other SJ songs. You may want to react to Sorry Sorry Answer, you would be amazed.
please react to SORRY SORRY ANSWER, it’s the 2 ver. of SORRY SORRY, but it totally DEFERENT you will be surprised because of the vocals in that song 😭💙🔥, believe me their vocals are unbelievable 😩🔥
The choreographers of this were actually American, best of the best, they worked for Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson: Nick Bass and Trent Dickens. Recently SuJu worked with Tobias Ellehammer, who also worked for Jackson, among others. SuJu very much makes it their own though. While the song is a bop and the dance is iconic, I think the video never got as much credit as it deserved, because it's bw aesthetic is so understated. I happen to love it precisely for that reason though. :)
Nice to know! I love when two cultures mix together to make a masterpiece! The choreography was amazing, but it wouldn't matter if you don't have the attitude needed... it's a perfect match!
@@kaosden2955 Agreed! So this isn't "cultural appropriation", it's collaboration. You can see the choreographers introduce their work here: ruclips.net/video/lMJnaCK3d70/видео.html Interestingly it has a very different vibe to it. So it's not surprising that it looked different to you than what was going on in the USA at the time, even though some of the steps are the same (eg the "Billy Jean shuffle"). What K-pop really excels at is group choreography rather than solos and couple dances, and most of the choreographies for boy groups are much more interesting than for girl groups.
@@kaosden2955 If you like cultural hybrids you might also want to check out SuJu's cross-over Latin stuff. "Mamacita" was the very first of that trend as far as I know, more a comedy-novelty number at the time, before it became "a thing" later on in general, after the huge success of K-Pop in South America together with the global success of Reggaeton. More "serious" pieces in that vein are "Lo Siento" and "Otra Vez", both collabs with Latin artists.
I didn't see reactions of certain Super Junior songs on your channel but I know that doesn't mean you didn't already see/hear the songs I looked for, but in case you didn't know yet, Super Junior have three songs where there is also Spanish language besides just Korean and English. The first ever was a collaboration they did with Latinx-American Leslie Grace and Play n Skillz, it's called Lo Siento, the second is a collaboration with Mexican male group Reik, it's called Otra Vez aka One More Time and the third song is only Super Junior singing entirely in Spanish a cover of Luis Miguel song Ahora Te Puedes Marchar including doing his video almost exactly as a fun tribute to him. If you never saw these ones I would like to see your reaction, please. Reactors run into problems on youtube sometimes if they react to live performances from Korean music shows but on your own you might like to see Super Junior performing live with the female members of KARD Somin and Jiwoo during Lo Siento promotions. Unfortunately in those performances the only Spanish in the song is when they sing the title Lo Siento, it is still a good song and seeing half of KARD perform with Super Junior was really great! I have enjoyed your reaction to Sorry Sorry very much, thank-you! There is a sequel to it called Sorry Sorry Answer and it is very different from Sorry Sorry; it is RnB with emphasis on vocals and features uncredited guest vocals from Yoo Youngjin. In live performance of Sorry Sorry Answer Yesung sings Youngjin's parts as well as his own and the difference is so small, it's truly remarkable! Hope you'll be interested to also react to the Sorry Sorry Answer mv. ~FM :)
