People are more likely to work hard, because they HAVE to. Not because they can do a job they love and are passionate about but because they simply can’t make enough money to survive. Taxing those who disproportionately earn more, proportionally to their income would be the most equitable route. There’s not really any emotion when it comes to this topic. Plenty of ignorance to encounter, however.

I came from a 3rd world hyper capitalist country with every neighborhood having a slum and workers flooding out from garments factories every evening walking tens of miles making stuff for cheap for American corporations. We would've killed to what he had in Vietnam. Good railway system, cooperative farms, good state management, etc. Lesson at the end is not to use hierarchy of oppression to shit on other people who could be oppressed in their own ways.
We do have brackets. The top federal income tax is like 35-42% I believe. But theres also payroll taxes and state and local taxes. So rich people can pay over 50% total
The rich and I’m talking obscenely rich people multi millionaires, avoid paying taxes via finding loop holes where they can ride off tax. Trump actually said that he takes advantage of the tax code just like every other rich politician in this country does.
I think you need a balance. It should be worth it to work hard and be smarter than others. At the same time, where always will be "weak" people who have deseases are not born smart whatever, who should be protected from the rich by having a strong social care system. Difficult topic

Vietnamese citizens have no rights. They have to ask the government if they want to move to another house. I'd rather be poor and free.
