    All I can say is WOW! You did an awesome job! I've never played with Polymer Clay but this makes me want to give it a try! I do have a bit of a suggestion for the use of the styrofoam egg. There are 2 kinds of eggs that I noticed at the craft store. There is the "everyday" sort of styrofoam egg that we've all seen made out of what looks to be plastic and it sort of shreds when you cut it. Then there is the one that if you were to cut it it has little tiny white balls. I think that maybe the egg you used........it looks like it anyway. When you took it out of the clay egg after you baked it, it looked all nubbly on the outside. I think I'm going to try that one in a small size just so I don't waste all that clay to se if it works. You say in the video to bake it at 10-15 mins. What is the temperature of the oven and do you use your home oven to do this or a craft oven made especially for clay??? Thank you so much for the videos. I'm getting my coffee and spending my afternoon watching them!

    • @DRN
      @DRN  8 лет назад

      +dublintoo Yes it is the last kind of styrfoam I used, I don't know the first kind :-) And yes it is a great idea to try it on a smaller one the first time!
      I use my normal oven, and I put it 5 celsius bellow the temperature, that it says on my clay.
      I hope that helped you a bit.
      Thanks for the kind words :-)

    I thought it was really funny when you wrapped the Styrofoam ball with the polymer, I know when I was using Styrofoam to sit my polymer clay on while working on it the polymer ate through the clay and it looked very strange but in the end what happened to your egg was very cool and such a useful thing that happened. I will indeed do this in the future when making stuff with polymer. I love this project, I am a new subscriber and am looking forward to seeing all of your videos and future videos as well. You are super talented!

    That is so neat and I love all the little details. :) I also liked that the egg shrunk so it could be removed. That opens up so many possibilities including adding a battery operated tea light (if it will fit in the door) or adding some LED light strips inside. :)

      @DRN  10 лет назад +2

      Thanks! I was actually prepared to use acetone, to get the egg out, I didn't think it would shrink at all, it just made it so much easier to get it out :-) and I could use the smal egg for something els :-)

    • @BlackCat_2
      @BlackCat_2 10 лет назад +2

      Daniela mini I had that thought too when I saw the smaller egg. I wonder if it would shrink more if baked again? Could make a texture tool as well. :D

      no it doesn't schrink more than this, as it is rock sollid :-)

    • @DRN
      @DRN  9 лет назад

      Nathalie Kabela hi there :-)
      This is how I made the wood cane: ruclips.net/video/rXm6IrSyyF4/видео.html
      I have some kemper cutters in the shape of the leaves, they come in lots of different shapes... I think you might be able to get them in your hobby store, othervice you can find them online ;-)
      I hope this will help you

      Daniela mini thank you so much for replying so fast!!

    • @lowcostpetclipping
      @lowcostpetclipping 9 лет назад

      Daniela mini one more question.. on the wood piece at the end you showed you cut it into a thin slice and wrapped it on a pencil. Now if you were adding a few of the sliced together would you put it in the paste machine? if so would it be length ways or width..

    • @DRN
      @DRN  9 лет назад

      When I make pencils, I like them to be a little uneven, so here and there I just cut slices of my cane, put them on and roll it at bit more even.. if you want to put them trough the pasta machine first, you need to remember, that it will stretch the pattern a bit, depending on how thin you make the piece..
      so you can put it into the pasta machine the way you like it to stretch, so it is actually all up to you!
      I hope this helped you a bit

    Hi Daniela
    are you baking more than once? can the baking not be done all at one time once everything is finished?

    • @DRN
      @DRN  9 лет назад

      Charmaine Clayton Hi yes I bake more than one time. This way I avoid to ruin things that I'm done with, so I don't have to watch where I put my fingers while creating, and if I have to leave it for a day or two then I know it is safe.
      But yes you can make your creation all done, before baking, if you like that better :-)

    • @DRN
      @DRN  3 года назад

      The styrofoam did schrink, You can also see that in the video, where I take it out of the baken project.. I have now gotten a message, that it can be toxic to bake it, I didn't have any problems with that, but be carefull, you could make the shape of the egg with tin foil, and then make the house on that ❤️

      Hi Peg
      I actually think there is only one kind og styrofoam, but I really don't know for sure!

      well I only know of one kind of styrofoam, I actually didn't know there were more than one type...
      sorry your creation was ruiend :-( maybe next time try blowing out a normal egg, make a airhole in the egg that is not covered, and then make your creation over that, after baking, you can break the egg, and your creation eill be fine!!
      But remember the airhole, otherwice it will explode..

      Well I take my things with on sales exhabitions / fairs here in Denmark, and I have a Danish FB side where I also sell from.
      But that will not help you much :-(
      You can contact me with a private message on my facebook:

    I worked on this very hard. I made your wood, I bought and covered a egg as directed. I got it all coved as instructed, did all my cut outs, then baked for 15 minutes and my styrofoam ball must have expanded instead of shrinking and ruined the entire project. It made me very sad! Linda

      +Linda Ketner oh no!
      It should not expande, but I found out that if the polymer clay is sticking to the styrofoam, then it will be ruiend, as it shrinks, as it will be pulled in a wrong direction - I'm so sorry..
      maybe covering the styrofoam egg with tinfoil first will avoid the problem, but I didn't get to try that out - and I might have been really lucky with this house

    This is beautiful but just a friendly warning that styrofoam can give off very dangerous fumes that can actually kill you and anyone else in the house. Perhaps you’ve already done the research but people watching who may want to try this should know to do their own research and only attempt once they’re very happy they know they are using safe products.
