Good to know that someone else finds the SCXD to be a very useful amp. I use almost identical settings as you, CH1 plus pedals! Also good to know of that WGS speaker option. I am very happy with the speaker in mine (I got a good one). However, I have a spare SCXD whose speaker is a bit bright/harsh (confirmed by cross connecting the amps outputs/speakers). The first amp has been so reliable that I haven't needed to use the spare.

Nice comparison and I currently have owned a very similar lineup. I have a 64 Fender Super Reverb export model which is my best sounding amp but pretty loud, big, and heavy. I use it for outdoor gigs or large stages where I need to fill a large area with sound. I do have an attenuator which will tame the excruciating loud some but it does seem to take some of the glorious tone with it. For 5 years I gigged with the venerable Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and it covered the Fender blackface tone pretty well in a smaller and less loud package. This was perfect for most of the Roadhouse/Pub/private party gigs with great Fender tone at rock band levels. I got a Super Champ XD about 10 years ago, added a Ragin Cajun speaker and it is my goto amp for worship and smaller gigs when I need great tone at more manageable volumes. It is probably 90% of the delicious tone of the Super Reverb in a small and manageable package. Love it!

Fun video. I’ve got a Super Champ X2 that I swapped in a Weber CTC10 25 watt speaker on. Made a huge difference. On the X2, I use voice 3 which is modeled on a Tweed Deluxe compressed and dirty. Set the gain to about 4.5, that’s just to the very edge of breakup. A beautiful round three dimensional clean tone. Much more tube like than the clean 1st channel. And that voice works wonderfully with overdrive pedals as well. They caught lightning in a bottle on that voice. Very reminiscent of an actual tweed deluxe. For a $200.00 used hybrid amp with a $30.00 speaker upgrade, it’s jaw dropping!

Adding the Fender Pro Junior to the comparison would have really been good. Love the 1st version that came out in 1992 or 1993....awesome little tone machine....

the SC sounds really good.....the x2 gives you the option to use Fender Fuse to set up the lead channel any way you want it then foot switch back to the clean channel...this is killer

Built a sweet pine cab for my SC XD, doubled the size of the output transformer, and swaped in a jensen P10q speaker. I beleive its as good as an XD can get

Interesting comment about the XD versus the X2 I have an XD. Do you have any recommendations on a reasonable supplier for tube replacement?
    Everything's so expensive these days.

I found an amp in a dumster. The amp was dead, but it had a 40 year old Celestion speaker made in the UK in it, which made me take it home to test. The build quality is superior to the stock speaker, with a larger magnet and more metal and weight. Fortunately it fitted in the Fender cabinet without any problems and it's lifted the sound quality considerably. I too, just stick to the clean channel mostly.

You are right about the XD sound compared to the X2. They seemed to nail it first time around 👍🏼

but with the x2 you can use Fuse to change any of the voices to what ever you want...

XD way better than X2 in my opinion. Too much digital going on in X2.

I love the scxd, it's my first tube amp. But theres been a like humming like sound thats also like static. Doesnt affect the guitar playing or tone but it does annoy me a little since i can hear it well when im not playing and can hear it also when playing in lower volumes.

Do you use it for band practice? I wonder if it will be enough to keep up with the drummer 😂

@@GiselleDKget one and find out. It's plenty loud, trust me. No problem in a band or small stage setting.

In the Twin why did you remove one of the speakers, if they were both the same brand/model would seem it would have sounded much better, fuller having both?

Each of these has a WGS speaker in them. The Twin has an unnamed prototype, the BD has the G12C/S and the champ the G10C/S
