Being European I can confirm the interviewer is well reflecting the European politicians and media fighting like a mob against Russia. i'm Ukrainian, I've never left the country since the war started. And what I want to tell - the perception of the Ukrainians who are willing to fight no matter the casualties, inconveniences, sufferings etc is false, it is created by our government, the guys who will never see the trenches. What was so fantastic? Please be more specific. The war is pretty simple: Russia invaded Ukraine against their will. Many European leaders travelled to Moscow trying to talk Putin out of invading Ukraine, at the time Putin was denying any such intentions. Orban was not one of them. Russia invaded anyhow. Ukraine chose and continues to choose to fight the invasion. Most of Europe supports Ukraine's right to choose when and under what conditions to seek an end of the war, without putting pressure on Ukraine to capitulate. Russia thought Europe would be weak because of its dependence on cheap gas and choose economic advantages over defending an invaded country. I want this war to end as well, but I don't want to tell Ukraine to capitulate to Russia either. Putin started this mess. Nevertheless, I still appreciate Orban to seek to speak with Putin. Victor Orban made a very good impression to me in this interview. I totally agree with him that we need to investigate all possible ways to peace. We always were allowed to talk the language you want, the only problem was if you go from russian speaking region to ukrainian speaking region if you don't speak Ukranian, people will be not happy to talk to you and will be rude 100% (but the same thing with vice versa). I've been in Canada and Switzerland and I can tell you that there is the same language problem. But again, to speak russian was never a problem for us in Ukraine.

First time I've heard Viktor Orban speak. What a refreshing guy, smart as hell, clear speaking, pragmatic. He's completely right that Europe should be autonomous and not follow the US. Western media likes to demonise him, but we could do with more leaders like him. Bravo Mr Orban.

I was like what the f***, you don't know half of what's happening there and why... Under him Hungary is safe and prosperous because he doesn't let far-leftist mad ideologies enter the country and he doesn't allow foreign powers to dictate how we're supposed to live. Hungary is a conservative democratic christian country. We don't want war, we want peace in our country and in our neighbours and we want our nation to prosper. And we believe in science and common sense and NOT authoritarian, politically correct ideologies. Day 1 of being the EU President, Orbán went to Ukraine to speak with Mr. Zelensky and then he proceeded to go to Russia to speak to Mr. Putin. I like that the interviewer poses critical questions and brings up the arguments of the other side. But why does it have to be in such an accusing, emotional way? You get the feeling, he doesnt want to know Orban's thoughts, opinions and experiences, but only wants to corner him and accuse him - that he's not there to learn, but there to judge. I see this all the time in German journalism nowadays, even when they interview the minister of economic affairs or whoever, journalists appear as if they want to deliver a good bollocking instead of getting interesting information and perspectives of an interviewee.

Italy, France, Germany, all tried to talk Putin out of invading Ukraine, when Putin was still saying all of this was a military exercise. Ukraine was nowhere close to join NATO and having missiles. If Putin had acknowledged the intention to invade Ukraine, a treaty could have been negotiated where Ukraine could have let go of its ambitions joining NATO. But he lied about it and therefore gave no possibility about negotiations. After the invasion, Selensky offered to let go of ambitions to join NATO. This was not accepted by Putin. I have a problem with people calling Orban a force for peace and everybody else a force for war.

Which of these claims are the lies? Just before the war started and right after that all these things went very public through all our (german) mainstream media. And they told that everything of it was justified and good. They told that the minsk agreements were not fulfilled by the ukrainians because they were unfair for ukraine. Then later Merkel, Hollande, etc. came to tell us that these were never meant to be fullfilled and instead just gave time to ukraine. This was celebrated in our media as a excellent and wise decision which helped ukraine to stand it's ground against russia. And that's not even wrong for ukraine's perspective. The media even told us russia was BEGGING the US and NATO to make some agreements to benefit both sides. But according to out media russia was unreasonable to fear us because we are the good guys. I can even understand most of ukraine's positions. They are paying the price for failed diplomacy which was mostly out of their hands. You can call the spin or the interpretation propaganda. But facts stay facts.

Angela Merkel was Europe's greatest "statesman" while she was in power....at least she passed on some of her ways to the Willy goat Prime minister of Hungary who used to care for nothing bar his own country. Now, with age, he's at least stepping up to take hold of some sort of peace talk. Macron used be for peace until the small man with the "Napoleon" complex blames russia for losing nearly all its African continent power and wealth. He shouldn't have abused the countries he had French troops in. He abused Frances' greatest fighting force, "La Legion." It's the main reason he wants the Legion sent to Ukraine. He doesn't want fully garrisoned Legion bases in France with no conflicts to fight. The normal French army had no faith in the French government and the Legion, even though mostly foreign people have always been more French values than the French. It's not a good thing right now. This has been done and peace was almost achieved in 2022 until the powers that want the war to continue intervened. Being European I can confirm the interviewer is well reflecting the European politicians and media fighting like a mob against Russia. And what I want to tell - the perception of the Ukrainians who are willing to fight no matter the casualties, inconveniences, sufferings etc is false, it is created by our government, the guys who will never see the trenches. What was so fantastic? Please be more specific. The war is pretty simple: Russia invaded Ukraine against their will. Many European leaders travelled to Moscow trying to talk Putin out of invading Ukraine, at the time Putin was denying any such intentions. Orban was not one of them. Russia invaded anyhow. Ukraine chose and continues to choose to fight the invasion. Most of Europe supports Ukraine's right to choose when and under what conditions to seek an end of the war, without putting pressure on Ukraine to capitulate. Russia thought Europe would be weak because of its dependence on cheap gas and choose economic advantages over defending an invaded country. I want this war to end as well, but I don't want to tell Ukraine to capitulate to Russia either. Putin started this mess.
Nevertheless, I still appreciate Orban to seek to speak with Putin. And I also appreciate the interview.
Victor Orban made a very good impression to me in this interview. I totally agree with him that we need to investigate all possible ways to peace. I'm a Crimean. We always were allowed to talk the language you want, the only problem was if you go from russian speaking region to ukrainian speaking region if you don't speak Ukranian, people will be not happy to talk to you and will be rude 100% (but the same thing with vice versa).
I've been in Canada and Switzerland and I can tell you that there is the same language problem.
But again, to speak russian was never a problem for us in Ukraine.

I like that the interviewer poses critical questions and brings up the arguments of the other side. But why does it have to be in such an accusing, emotional way? You get the feeling, he doesnt want to know Orban's thoughts, opinions and experiences, but only wants to corner him and accuse him - that he's not there to learn, but there to judge. Italy, France, Germany, all tried to talk Putin out of invading Ukraine, when Putin was still saying all of this was a military exercise. Ukraine was nowhere close to join NATO and having missiles. If Putin had acknowledged the intention to invade Ukraine, a treaty could have been negotiated where Ukraine could have let go of its ambitions joining NATO. But he lied about it and therefore gave no possibility about negotiations. After the invasion, Selensky offered to let go of ambitions to join NATO. This was not accepted by Putin.

Which of these claims are the lies? Just before the war started and right after that all these things went very public through all our (german) mainstream media. And they told that everything of it was justified and good. They told that the minsk agreements were not fulfilled by the ukrainians because they were unfair for ukraine. Then later Merkel, Hollande, etc. came to tell us that these were never meant to be fullfilled and instead just gave time to ukraine. This was celebrated in our media as a excellent and wise decision which helped ukraine to stand it's ground against russia. And that's not even wrong for ukraine's perspective. The media even told us russia was BEGGING the US and NATO to make some agreements to benefit both sides. But according to out media russia was unreasonable to fear us because we are the good guys.
I can even understand most of ukraine's positions. They are paying the price for failed diplomacy which was mostly out of their hands.

Angela Merkel was Europe's greatest "statesman" while she was in power....at least she passed on some of her ways to the Willy goat Prime minister of Hungary who used to care for nothing bar his own country. Now, with age, he's at least stepping up to take hold of some sort of peace talk. Macron used be for peace until the small man with the "Napoleon" complex blames russia for losing nearly all its African continent power and wealth. He shouldn't have abused the countries he had French troops in. He abused Frances' greatest fighting force, "La Legion." It's the main reason he wants the Legion sent to Ukraine. He doesn't want fully garrisoned Legion bases in France with no conflicts to fight. The normal French army had no faith in the French government and the Legion, even though mostly foreign people have always been more French values than the French. It's not a good thing right now.
Hopefully peace discussions will lead to peace talks
