I remember this show! Watching it now, the sexual tension between Danza's and Loughlin's characters was insane (I may have felt it back then)! Perhaps too hot for Primetime?

Kinda feels like he has sexual tension with almost every leading lady he's worked with - Judith Light, Anne DeSalvo (two episodes in season 5 of Taxi) come to immediate mind...even the woman who plays Lucy in this show, especially in the episodes after Lori Laughlin left, though the tension with Lucy feels a bit different. Like, with some affection laced into it that's been there for some time - makes their relationship believable to me.

@@1bornconfused922 Yeah, Danza has this way of creating that kind of tension with every leading lady. Shareen Mitchell, who played his ex-wife, Lucy, was also in an episode of Who's The Boss, where they also had sexual tension.

@@mistercool3859 yeah, which is so weird because in WTB wasn't she playing the daughter of a mob guy he owned a favour to? He was mentoring her to try and get her out of her spoiled child behaviour. And the way they played it, it seemed like she was supposed to be quite young! Then fast forward about 5 years to this show and she's playing his ex-wife. Tony Danza just has that quality, like you said.

Absolutely hate the fact that by the mid 90s every sitcom had to be about sex, sex, sex all the time. Can't even comfortably watch anything from back then with my mom because of it. Everything is awkward because the lazy writers always had to go to that well. Every single time. Even back in the 70s and 80s it was bad. People talk about the "clean family comedies" from the 80s? They didn't exist. Almost every sitcom from that decade was almost always about sex. If there were kids on the show, it would inevitably be about them having sex, or dating, or coming home with hickeys, etc. There was a whole episode of Kate and Allie about a condom they found in Chip's pocket. This was totally unnecessary and smacks of laziness. And people don't need these sitcoms to bring up these issues to discuss with their kids. That's the parents' decision. Comedies are to sit and laugh and enjoy and be entertained and distracted from bad things. You know what some of the greatest sitcoms are? Shows like Newhart, Fawlty Towers, Taxi (which was sometimes dramatic and about sex, but not nearly as much as the others, and they knew how to balance some drama with the comedy), Seinfeld (Also, some episodes about sex, but the majority of them weren't and were fine to watch with your parents), and pretty much any sitcom from the 50s and 60s. You know why this is? Because they were always funny, they were clean most of the time, and they didn't bring up any "serious issues" that had to be discussed. Newhart is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen, and it proved that completely clean humor can be side-splittingly funny. And that was on in the 80s, a decade where most other sitcoms lazily relied on sex for laughs. I don't want drama and sex in my comedies. If I want to see those things, there's plenty of drama series that contain both.
