IIRC, he introduced Bossa Nova (via Astrid Gilberto's rendition of Tom Jobim's "Girl From Ipanema") to his audience (certainly to me -- I thought Astrid Gilberto was The Girl From Ipanema. I didn't learn about Heloisa Pinheiro until decades later!)
