Thank you so much for the tip! I never know what to do when my succulents slow down their growth and I’m just left with one rly floofy succulent. Just found what I’m going to do for the day!
I don’t really do plants but my mom does. This channel is soooo educational on how to care for plants and videos like this on how to grow more! And I love videos of you bringing plants back to life ! And your excitement over plants… it’s so cute, I love it, it makes my day when you get super excited and giggly ❤
I am so glad you did this video! I bought one of these elephant bushes, and it died (overwatered it), so I got another, and it I'd doing great! I love them!!! Thanks!!
I found a very broken off branch of one of these at Lowe’s just vibin on the floor so I put it in my purse and put it in some water and 2-3 weeks later it’s got mad roots 💕
Learn something new today!! I normally stick these stems or the ones that oozes milky sap into water for 24hrs before planting them. I guess I should callous it instead first!!
FINALLY YOU DID A VIDEO FOR ELEPHANT BUSH😭. Please do more about elephant bush. Watering, growing, and pruning. Give me tips how to take care of it. I bought mine 2 months ago. Still survive until now but didn't grow any inches. I live in southern asia and watering it once a months. Some said it should be watering 2 weeks once.
I have tried several to keep this plant alive. It has died every time. The last time I was given this plant and the person told me to give it a lot of water. It didn't look good, so I let it get dry for a long time. It died. Adorable dog!
yeah whoever gave it to you was either ignorant or setting you up to fail LOL they're native to the very dry shrublands in south africa. They only get rain during the spring and summertime so half of the year the thing is bone dry! I found the best way to raise them in a foolproof manner is IGNORE IT outside during the spring and summer. Just put it outside in a spot that gets a lot of direct sunlight and if youre feeling fancy throw a few slow release fertilizers grains over it then boom ignore it. Come wintertime? BOOM ignore it. Leave it in the sunniest windowsill you have and water it maybe once or twice in the winter AT MOST. The plant will naturally consume it's lowest most leaves and go up slowly over the wintertime if you dont water it. That's its natural adaptation to having no rain for half a year. If you want to keep it looking lush and dont want to wait for the leaves to regrow next spring you can always water it just once or twice to let the plant know you dont need to eat yourself lol. Just like growing Aloe Vera and a lot of cacti. The key is to just ignore the plant because it thrives on neglect.
This plant is indigenous to South Africa, we call it a "Spekboom" which literally translates to Bacon Tree. It's edible and contains electrolytes. We're taught to look for them if ever caught in an emergency situation. There are copycat plants though, the best way to tell if it's the real deal is by looking for the red stems :)
@meganandherplants4524 I'd guess it's the amount of light you're giving it. Did it go from red to light, or was new growth which was lighter? But most red expresses in high light, some windows won't cut it as its a stress of sun. Now some plants have chemicals (probably this one) that makes stems red so maybe while it grew roots it used up some of it? I know magnesium deficiency can make red stems in some plants too. I know nothing about elephant bush except many Indias call it Jade when it's not crassula... that is all. Kbye
That's what I do with my succulents. I found my first succulent a few years back on the steps of a house that I was looking at buying. I thought it was a stick but when I bent down to pick it up, I realized it was a plant. The only problem is that I have no idea what kind of succulent it actually is. I've tried looking up different kinds and none of them match. 🤷🏻♀️
I would like to see you grow cucumbers. Because I want to know if cucumbers being watered only when they’re dry creates bitter cucumbers or not. I know cucumbers get bitter more when the plants are stressed so I would like to know if this watering technique counts as stress for cucumber plants. Because I like cucumbers but I can’t grow to save my life. I killed 2 sweet mint plants in one summer. They’re supposed to be hard to kill
This NEVER WORKS for me. They always end up dying. And I’m doing *exactly* what you’re doing. I’ve never been able to propagate succulents to save my life. I even have tried putting cuttings in water and let them sprout roots, and then potting them. No dice. I actually just tried it a few weeks ago again, and all I got was shriveled up succulents. They just won’t take. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Please help Krystal!🙏💕
I have one of these that I've had for 3 years and it's been perfect. Lately it has been loosing almost all of it's leaves. I am at a loss with it. I have tried less water, more water, more light, less light. I finally put it outside yesterday 😭😭
You can always give them away as gifts, or sell them on Marketplace or eBay. I'm selling Wandering Jew, I love it but I have one in almost every room now and I've given them to two of my kids. The other two would probably kill them! Lol
i had to come back because i just went to repot my hosta to try and give it some fresh soil and space to see if it would help (it’s currently struggling), and as i was clearing the dirt i see not one, not two, but EIGHT little baby leaf sprouts 🥺 i’m so sorry for doubting you 😭
I have some “grass”/“weeds” growing in my dirt. It looks very similar to this but I don’t believe it’s a succulent. The similarity is the stem. Do u possibly know what it is?
I NEED HELP FOR BRINGING MY MOMS JADE PLANT BACK TO LIFE !! It was doing great for months in my room . Then it super cold a few days and warmed back up because we got our heat back and all of a sudden it got all rubbery and leaves falling off and I feel so bad because it was my moms . Does anyone know what I can do . I saved some of the leaves that fell and I’m trying to propagate them but her poor plant is still rubbery and falling over
I have a string of bananas succulent (I think atleast) a ton of the bananas fell off in transport. Can I pop those into soil too just like you did w the leaves in this video?
It’s not bs. With succulents you can produce new plants from single leaves. You can even place on top of soil and it will root. The orginal leaf will die eventually but you get a new plant.
I’ve noticed in a couple of your videos one of your hanging plants on the wall looks like it has a lot of dried leaves or it’s variegated? I’m just curious about him. Is he being punished? Or is he just being difficult?
This is such a bad idea for me because now I will be making infinite amount of more succulents! 😂
This is me already, I have succulents covering every square inch of every windowsill and they all came from the same plant I got years ago 😂
@@axuwu6939 Oh my goodness! Me too!
That's what I'm struggling with right now 😅
Imagine going to the plant store and finding already sprouted offsets in between all the pots and that's how you end up with over 100 varieties 🙃
I do this 😂😂😂😂 and they grow soooo quickly so it’s a never ending supply of succulents
I love how she always seems so gleefully surprised by the most mundane things in life
Thank you! Life is hard and It’s important to find joy in the little things 💚
Cur, prop, and drop it! Cut, prop, and drop it! 🤣 love you!

Elephant jade is perfect for learning how to bonsai! I have several I have manipulated.
Your eyes are very beautiful. A strikingly positive and bright color. 😍

Unrelated: I love that shade of green for you!!! Makes you look even more beautiful!! Love 👏🏼 it 👏🏼
You are so sweet! Thank you!
I agree. I also noticed it accentuates her eye color. ❤
I love this video! Spekboom/elephant bush is my favorite plant. Thank you for sharing

Nahhh, cause I went to the hardware store and collected a bunch of different succulent leaves lmao
Always like her plant content. I need all the help I can get. Thank you friend. You are a dear! 💎 🌸 🌹 🌷 🎍

Nice 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That's what I love of suculents! Blessing s. 🙏
love this idea. I usually throw out my leaves. Did a new plant grow from the leaf??🙄😳
I love it.

I’ve never had luck getting my propagations to take! Any tips for doing this with an Aloe?
Asking as someone who knows absolutely nothing about plants, why did she put the individual leaf thingys in the soil?
What type of plant is this? Also.. you look gorgeous in green!!!
Just saw this after losing all the leaves and tips to thrips. So heartbroken.
How often do these type of plants need watering? I can’t seem to get it right. Any help is direly appreciated!!
please please please make an alocasia video.... alocasia in general or alocasia polly and stingray please 🙏 🙂
You're very beautiful naturally. You don't need all the makeup, though you're beautiful either way.
South Africans have called or nicknamed these succulents elephants ears ❤. Grow VERY easily here.
Is this also known as a spekboom?

i know i’m not the only one that sees the doja cat resemblance lol … also love the vids
How do you water your elephant bush propagations? I can never seem to get mine to survive
i've always been told p.afra is impossible to propagate so i never tried
I think you are a Fairy.... 💖💖💖
If you know how, could you show how to propagate a hosta?

can you please make a video about aloe because i want tips on care for it
When’s the best time to do this outside?
Do you wait to water once you’ve put them in the dry soil or do you saturate with water right away
I cut my succulent probably the wrong way and now it grew VERY broad if that makes sense. It just started growing all the way outside of the pot?!
I was thinking about the Stop, Drop tiktok trend song 😂 oh god
I have one of these but all the leaves fell off. I think the stem is still alive but idk what’s happening 😣
I was taught to stick them in water till they form roots.
It's really creapy that Google knows i bought one of these 2 hours ago.😳
How often do you water succulents?
I have so many succulents. I do this with all of mine and now I’ve got 100 or so just in my kitchen we should definitely trade babies, 😂😬🤦🏻♀️
Hei :)how do you probegate the turtles???:)
Okay but how do keep them alive?
I've tried so many times and unfortunately they all died. I doing something wrong but don't know what it is.
Is this some kind of Portulacaria?
What do you do about rot starting on the succulent that you propagated from?
How do you propagate a small cactus
Ive done this but the leaves and the stems die to. Im soioo lost.
Out of excitement I hd purchased 5 elephant bush plants including variegated and my all plants are dead 😥 where I went wrong 🤔
Do we water the propagated ones too? ❤️

I have some “grass”/“weeds” growing in my dirt. It looks very similar to this but I don’t believe it’s a succulent. The similarity is the stem. Do u possibly know what it is?
I believe you're referring to the succulent weed, known as Purslane. It's edible.

Ps guys the leaves don’t root however the leaves are edible 🫶🏻 , people use them when they’re I’ll etc as elephants eat on them too
