August 23, 2022 this video prevented me from throwing away 50 DVDs. I thought I could only us Cd's because I could only remove the foil from it, not the DVD. Thanks a million, now back to crafting.

I am using a cd so I tried the tape sticking method to remove the colored film but I left with only the transparent part, not the shiny part ??

Hey! Amazing idea. Where did you get this hole pinch machine? Mine doesnt work smoothly it takes a lot of pressure and cuts one circle and then gets stuck with cds. Please guide

I cry for all the money so many of us spent on our collections of DVD's and CD's, only to have them become obsolete. (Full disclosure: I used to manage a Suncoast Motion Picture Company and an FYE). Like books (remember those?), there used to be a satisfaction in displaying them on a shelf or in a storage fixture. You can't do that with a sound or video file.

Hey! Thanks for clarifying the difference between the blue n white Dvd & cd respectively.
I tried applying this method, of keeping the dvd n cds in hot water for 5 mints, but it didn't work as expected.
I experienced below breakouts while doing it-
For Cd- while cutting it out, the foil also comes out. And the other part goes transparent.
For DVD- I am unable to divide it into 2 parts.
Kindly suggest as to where I am wrong. I need your help.

For Cd: If u have taken as much as old cd then it possible the foil comes out or it may be you have boiled it more.
For DVDs: you must have noticed in dvds that they join in two layers.before going to divide ,keep dvd in hot water.. in this process, DVDs becomes soft to saperate easily.

Yes, The CD's was old.
For DVD's - I haven't noticed 2 layers. Will have to check it. But Yes, I had kept in boiled water, but couldn't find the point to apart the layers.
