    When you're moving LOG JAMS in a river, you know you're hard-core!

    I traveled this creek many times from 75-79. In our 18 ft Smokercraft with my father and his good friend Jerry Richarson. Thank you for this, brought back many good memories.

    Your boat almost matches the Shell station.

    Would like to know what motor and pump you are running?

      It’s a 200hp Mercury Sportjet package. Motor discontinued last year……

      @@RichardNateMiller Thanks for that, I thought it sounded like it but thought Riddle Marine only worked with V8's. The boat must have been a custom build for you, more upright windshield and center console joystick control.

    Before the state cut off the salmon fishing on these small streams to give the out of state commercial fishermen more salmon I would take clients on these stream's salmon fishing in a 19.6 open Willie sled powered by a Mercury 225 EFI .

      Oh man. You must have known the river very well! Would have been such a cool place back then.

      @@RichardNateMiller I did most of those creeks with clients paid for fishing.
      The Kashwitna was smoking hot for Chinook all the way up to the privet housing development and Moose hunting was also a guarantee to get a Moose in one of the Medows that can't be reached other by boat.
      One of the Kashwinta Medows no matter how many bull moose we killed in the Medow again next fall was another monster bull moose there with his cows.
      Best was none of the moose are killed further that 100 yards from the boat.
      Short pack back to the boat and clean river water to clean Moose quarters.
      The Kashwitna at the Alaska railroad bridge to 50 yards down steam into a bend of the river has so many Chinook holding there the fish are all over the lines and a bite comes in seconds of dropping any bait or lure in there.
      Some of the rainbow trout are so big I almost wonder are they Steelhead and the attacked bait wrapped K16's.
      At times I would leave the Deshka with clients to show them different fishing with zero other fishermen around in the small creeks of the Parks Hwy.

    These are sweet boats. It’s a shame they chose to put those crappy sport jets in such a nice hull.

    • @RichardNateMiller
      @RichardNateMiller  Год назад +1

      I suppose “crappy” is subjective…. Not many issues with the late gen 200. There are many of us shallow water goers that wish merc would keep making it…. Power to weight can’t be matched without forcing air into a little 4 stroke and downsizing the pump..
