The other similarity is the worm (that Arya tried to eat) in eye socket of the hooded guy in the House of Black and White and the worm that Bran describes in Blood Raven's eye socket.

This Faceless Men series is my favorite of yalls so far. So many parallels and nuggets I hadn't thought of and it's cool when little things I have noticed or wondered about during my own reads get brought up and fleshed out even more in your videos. Got the pop-up alert and was trying to watch this on my lunch break, but too many distractions. Very deep and well researched video as always. I don't know how you manage to make these things so fast, but damned if I don't find them intriguing. The weirwoods paste changing to a more pleasing taste the more you eat it is exactly like the shade of the evening. When Dany first drinks the shade of the evening it tastes like spoiled meat at first but started to taste better the more she drank it. I don't know what to make of that but its interesting since Dany experiences the magic of the undying right after and Bran experiences the magic of the weirwood right after.
One thing that may disprove your theory that Melisandra being shiera seastar is something the actress said in an interview( looked similar to a comic con panel but it was in France) I think she is shiera that would make a lot of sense but the actress said she was told by the show runners that Melisandra is 280 years old. What are your thoughts about this? The best game of thrones content on RUclips btw. I'm blown away with this channel. Keep it up!

I don't know if any of your videos talk about the dagger used in the attempt to take Bran's life, but if there is one please let me know the title. When I was reading book one, the dagger was described as if it could cut into the underworld.
Great Video again, The two of you have taken these videos to the next level. For the most part I love all the theories but the one I am having trouble buying into is the Weirwood trees being a God. If Ned and Ashara did as you said with Aegon and John Snow and knew about the war to come it makes me think he would know the enemy they would be facing. If it was the Children of the Forest and the Weirwoods then I find it odd that Ned would spend his time sitting by his Weirwood at Winterfell. I can buy into the Children being the real enemy and the fact that Weirwoods are portals, but i don't think it would just be to the underworld or the many faced god. I would think they are portals for all gods good and bad just that some have found ways to abuse the power. Also curious on the pool in the temple of the many faced god, A lot of people speculate that the pool in winterfell is an Ice Dragon (your thoughts?) and is the pool in the temple also an Ice dragon (More of your thoughts ? ) Lastly I am curious if you will cover the stone gargoyles that are on Dragonstone and Winterfell and the stone dragon Bran saw in his dream ? maybe eventually if we stumble on something that is different than what other theorists have put out, but we don't want to be a channel that repeats what other theorists have already put out there if we agree with their assessment...PJ did a great job breaking them down a few years ago and from what I remember about his breakdown of them, I don't think there is much to add to what he did...the only reason we started this channel to begin with is because no one out there was saying what we thought...it seems a waste of our time and our viewers time for us to be producing content that is identical to what is already out there
My husband says "Your fired". You upload a video right before he has to go to work. Now he has to wait 12 hrs till he gets home to watch. He says they upload at night why now when I am going to work. He prefers your videos to the show itself. He not a huge fan of the show or books like I am. I had the books on my self before the show even came out. He says the show is "Too Much crap" and that your videos are more "watchable" then the HBO "Crap". Good job with this video again you guys hit EVERY nail in the coffin.

I'm watching through the "recommended order" playlist for the first time and I absolutely love your videos! I don't know if you've already made these connections in a later video but I notice several of the connections you make between Bran and Arya's narratives also apply to Danaerys and her story. Bran tasting the weirwood paste and Arya smelling the House of Black and White both very closely mirror the experience of Danaerys drinking shade of the evening. I'm also reminded of the "inverse weirwoods" with blue leaves and black bark that surround the House of the Undying. Do you think there's a connection between The Undying Ones and the children of the forest? Maybe they're another 'species' of Children local to Qarth?

I'm hoping to get in touch with an old friend that wrote his dissertation on Lovecraft and pick his brain... then reread a few thousand pages of GRRM. LOL Yeah, lots of work! I don't take for granted what any of the better SoI&F channels put into their videos. One could definitely make an in depth study of eye symbolism and take at least two years just focusing on that, I would imagine. Part of the problem is that there is so much nonsense on the internet, that you have to verify and get the primary sources which are never light reading. Some things you may want to look into are books published by either Brill Academic (Studies in Intellectual History series) or SUNY's series on western esotericism. Does anyone ever comment on their respective Weirwood trees (on their castles, grounds, lands etc) having different expressions on them sometimes? I can't remember, but in my head, the tree at Winterfell always has a long, solemn face. Does this then mean that only *one* greenseer (most likely BR, I guess?) has looked in it whilst the current Stark family have been in residence/alive? Is it the same at other Weirwood locations? If there are so many different COTF greenseers, you'd think they'd be looking into Winterfell quite a lot, but the face (to my knowledge) has always been the same. Maybe they *make* themselves take on that solemn appearance so as not to raise suspicion, and Bran's just a newbie.
I haven't seen all of your videos, so maybe you already came up with it, but have you ever thought about that all weirwood trees could be one giant organism, their roots being a worldwide net, like funguses mycelum, the visible trees just like mushrooms, whilst the greatest part grows deep under the surface? This could be the reason why they can't be killed, why they are all connected, because they are in fact ONE.

I absolutely love all of your videos! Just a thought about the doors of the house and black and white... I think it's likely that you only need to say 'valar morghulis' to get in and not also show the coin to it. Otherwise how would the common folk who go there to die get in there? All the Bravvosi know the 'valar morghulis' but obviously the coin it supposed to be rare and something only a faceless man would have.

hi guys, been listening to your stuff for a while now, and im amazed. so can i just clarify, u are saying that in the end, its really the children of the forest and the wierwood that are behind the face less men, as u say because that s where the faceless men draw their ability to LITERALLY become the faces they wear, and where do they get the power from? wier wood, that draws on the memories of those past dead, so in a way arya and bran are really students recruited to serve the old gods, unbeknownst to them, thanks to the inter twining histories upon histories of the secret orders?

faceless man training makes you the weapon...she wouldn't have to beat them in a fight...faceless men kill people without anyone even knowing how it happened, with poison and the like and the face changing makes it so they can walk right up to their victims and kill them, then run around the corner, change their face and casually walk away
I have seen you mention the eyes that Jon see several times. I went back and re-read that part, and it appears to me that he saw a shadowcat's eyes. It's in the same paragraph where he describes hearing the shadowcats roar.
+Aron Jansson Nordberg but if you read what qhorin says later he said they were spotted...he hears a shadow cat roar in the distance. Then he sees a pair of eyes as large as harvest moons on the ledge. Harvest moons are huge .... I don't think shadow cats have eyes that large
A harvest moon isn't necessarily any larger than any other moon, full or not. Were the eyes really that large or is that just Jon's interpretation? The eyes are interesting, for sure, but very open to interpretation. I always interpreted the "spotted" comment to be about Orell's eagle, which had indeed spotted them and was following them. They could not escape it! The men on that mission knew what that eagle was, just like they understood Jon was a warg (after he told them of his wolf dream) even when Jon didn't understand what he was. More interesting is that Qhorin recognized that the tree's have eyes again! Again? Hadn't they always had eyes? Haven't they been watching for millennia?
thank you...we think it is, but haven't yet stumbled on how deep it is...I think it is extremely deep which allows it to connect across the Narrow Sea but without finding something resembling text evidence we'd get slaughtered for saying it in a video
OMG this has left me with so many questions!!!! Does Aryas face really change as much as she's told???? Does Aryas telepathy change her face???? Why is Jaquin the only one who seems to be able to completely change his face???? There are differences between Jaquin and Pate. Such as Jaquun doesn't mind being call Pig boy???? And couldn't the House of Black and White have evolved and been rebuilt and added to over the years???? Jaqen not caring about being called Pig Boy is because Jaqen doesn't care about anything and him not getting mad at being called that could very easily be viewed as personal growth by smart, intellectually curious men that either are Maesters in training or Maesters or Archmaesters he would be around would be likely to see it that way....the house of black and white is called the house of black and white and the only thing black and white that people see is the doors so it seems like the doors are the trademark of the temple so it stands to reason that they have been there since the beginning

So just clarify; the old gods of the first men/offshoots of the many faced god - which is the true god of the cotf. The seven/the gods of the Andals are ALSO an offshoot of the many faced god. So basically, even though the Andals fought the First Men for being 'heathens', they actually were worshipping the same god; and the first men fought hard to protect their religious freedom, but don't realize that they're basically just worshipping a the same god and a death cult anyways? In your theory, are the followers aware of the connection?
Question: what does it say about the children/Faceless men that they can't kill someone whose name they know? Might this be an explanation for why Bloodraven isn't dead yet?

that's what Varamyr from the tree said...he said she had glowing blue where her eyes had been and she looked right at him and he thought "ooo, she sees me."

What do you think of the title A Song of Ice and Fire? Most people just think about ice and fire, but what about the word song? Your videos make me think the song part is a reference to the children and another cryptic clue from GRRM. That its Song (those who sing the song of earth) ice and fire we're working with. maybe even song vs ice and fire? am I crazy?

I came across a passage the other day which indicates that the first long night was ended by a Last Hero in Essos who convinced Mother Rhoyne's "many children" to put aside their bickering and sing a secret song that brought back the day. You are totally on point, in my opinion. I am still working it out in my own head, but as soon as we do, we will release a video. :)
When are you guys gonna talk about the shade of the evening drink that the Warlocks drink? It’s made from a tree that is exactly the opposite of the Weirwood Trees.
We know that slavers traveled beyond the Wall in search of wildling slaves, so there's a chance some of the slaves that founded Braavos were wildlings. We also know that weirwood is used as a building material - a very good builing material - so it wouln't surprising me if some of the slavers or traders from the free cities either purchased or even cut down weirwoods while in Westeros. One exampel is in one of Dany's visions in the House of the Undying. Here she notices that the doors are made out of weirwood and ebony (coincident?). I mention this because if the Faceless Men worship the weirwood trees (which I can believe), it seems weird to me that they would cut them down and use them as building material. Using already cut down trees, however, could almost be looked upon as rectifying others' mistakes, by giving the trees a "worthy" usage again. I don't doubt that there are weirwoods in Braavos, it seems like a fitting place for them to grow in Essos, but it sounds weird to me that the FM would cut them down and use them as building material. Another minor thing, it seems to me that when Meera is talking about Old Nan, it is more to comfort Bran, who wonders if she was killed by the ironborn. For me it seemed more like a "keep her in your heart, and she will always be with you" moment.
+Vebjørn in regards to the FM's use of weirwood material, it's actual something the children did as well. They hunted with weirwood bows. So I'm Not sure that it would be considered an act that defiles the god they worship. Also, the House of Black and White was built long before Braavos became a port city, which we mention in the video. Braavos was, after all, the secret city for a very long time...Also in regards to meera's statement to bran, I think that yes that is what it appears to mean on the surface, and it does seem to serve that purpose as well, but I think there is a double meaning here, like you need to pay attention to he stories old nan tells (including us the reader)
I imagine the bows were made from branches, so it would be much easier for the trees to grow out again. I also feel like there's a difference between a vital survival tool, and some chairs and a door. And I was thinking more along the lines of perhaps the ships the slavers took over had some weirwood in them. Either material laying around, or perhaps even a part of the ships. It's not really that important, though, just another option. Also, a small piece of constructive criticism. When I go look up some of the quotes you're using, it feels like your cherry picking or taking it out of context. That's not necessarily true, but when you exclude parts of the quote, it makes me feel like you're deliberately taking away the context so it fits your theory. Take the Meera quote as an example. In your video you only included the part where she says "remember Old Nan's stories ...", without the context. I can agree with your explanation in your comment, but I think you would seem more trustworthy if you included these details in your video. Another example is a comment someone else made about how Thistle was blind. Again I quite liked the explanation it your reply, but when you exclude that part from the video it makes me wonder. It doesn't seem to be a big issue for most of your viewers, but for me, at least, it makes me wonder if you deliberately exclude things other places as well. You speak with confidence, and you make the viewers believe what you say, but I think that if you included some "counter arguments", and talked about how they are false or not necessarily true, it would strengthen your theories. I think you did that quite well in your N+A=J and R+L=A videos, but I'm missing it in videos that explore new areas, where you're not talking against widely believed theories. I'm not necessarily accusing you of cherry picking, but the way you present your videos makes me wonder.
How long do you want our videos to be? should we start reading the entire chapter we are going to take a quote from to ensure that the context is there? We were making a point about the accuracy of Old Nan's stories and why she said that to him was irrelevant...it it was we would have taken the time to explain the context... remember that GRRM wrote all of it, so really it could be said that he was the one telling his readers to listen to what Old Nan says because she is always right...and I am well aware that Thistle tore her eyes out...but Varamyr specifically said "And in the pits where her eyes had been, a pale blue light was flickering, lending her coarse features an eerie beauty they had never known in life." He then thinks that she sees him...that's not cherry picking...that's using text quotes to back up our ideas...and the ships that were taken over by those who founded Braavos was on its way from Valyria to Sothoryos...I guess it could be possible that there was a wildling on board one of the ships, but it seems incredibly unlikely since the Valyrians were known to enslave those they defeated and they never defeated anyone in Westeros...
Actually, I think you could make quite a good audiobook, but no I don't expect you to include much more. I said that I wasn't accusing you of cherry picking, but that in my opinion it would be good (rhetorically) if you refuted some percieved counter arguments and expanded upon some of your quotes. It's clear that most people in the comments don't care, but it bothers me some, which is why I brought it up. It's entirely up to you how you structure your videos, I was just giving you my two cents.
We haven't felt the need to refute other theories recently and we were told that we really pissed other theorists off when we did that in our earlier videos, so we've been trying to stay in our own lane so to speak...sorry if my last response was a little aggressive...I thought you WERE accusing us of cherry picking evidence to support our claims and we put so much time into crossing our Ts and dotting our I's that I got irritated
Another great video, yet I'm confused. In the North people keep saying By old gods and the new. Additionally, in the Catelyn first chapter: "...his gods were the old ones, the nameless, faceless gods of the greenwood they shared with the vanished children of the forest". (I'm not a native English speaker. Does this mean that they shared the Gods or the Greenwood?) So, I assume that when people of the North speak of the Old Gods, they mean the Tree Gods of the children of the forest, and not some old old gods of the First Men. Yet, it strange that Catelyn thinks of them as faceless when there are clearly faces on these trees! And you also suggest that Old gods of the First Men are the faceless gods of life from the times before the pact with the Children, aren't you? So, my question: Do you think that after many years of accepting the Tree Gods, people just mixed their Old Gods with the Tree Gods (they didn't know that it is one god with many faces)? But on the grand level there is a clear distinction between many faceless gods and one many-faced god? I hope I conveyed my concerns more or less clearly... Thanks!

Also I love the thing about finding their way from the darkness. Just because you make a super soldier means you control it. Arya already foreshadows this by skirting around all the rules. They are going to lose control I think.

The weirwoods paste changing to a more pleasing taste the more you eat it is exactly like the shade of the evening. When Dany first drinks the shade of the evening it tastes like spoiled meat at first but started to taste better the more she drank it. I don't know what to make of that but its interesting since Dany experiences the magic of the undying right after and Bran experiences the magic of the weirwood right after.

One thing that may disprove your theory that Melisandra being shiera seastar is something the actress said in an interview( looked similar to a comic con panel but it was in France) I think she is shiera that would make a lot of sense but the actress said she was told by the show runners that Melisandra is 280 years old. Question what is your opinion of the Grand northern conspiracy and Jon snow's resurrection might have play out in TWOW.
I don't know if any of your videos talk about the dagger used in the attempt to take Bran's life, but if there is one please let me know the title. When I was reading book one, the dagger was described as if it could cut into the underworld.

For the most part I love all the theories but the one I am having trouble buying into is the Weirwood trees being a God. If Ned and Ashara did as you said with Aegon and John Snow and knew about the war to come it makes me think he would know the enemy they would be facing.
If it was the Children of the Forest and the Weirwoods then I find it odd that Ned would spend his time sitting by his Weirwood at Winterfell. I can buy into the Children being the real enemy and the fact that Weirwoods are portals, but i don't think it would just be to the underworld or the many faced god. I would think they are portals for all gods good and bad just that some have found ways to abuse the power.
Also curious on the pool in the temple of the many faced god, A lot of people speculate that the pool in winterfell is an Ice Dragon (your thoughts?) and is the pool in the temple also an Ice dragon (More of your thoughts ? )
Lastly I am curious if you will cover the stone gargoyles that are on Dragonstone and Winterfell and the stone dragon Bran saw in his dream ?

maybe eventually if we stumble on something that is different than what other theorists have put out, but we don't want to be a channel that repeats what other theorists have already put out there if we agree with their assessment...PJ did a great job breaking them down a few years ago and from what I remember about his breakdown of them, I don't think there is much to add to what he did...the only reason we started this channel to begin with is because no one out there was saying what we thought...it seems a waste of our time and our viewers time for us to be producing content that is identical to what is already out there
My husband says "Your fired". You upload a video right before he has to go to work. Now he has to wait 12 hrs till he gets home to watch. He says they upload at night why now when I am going to work. He prefers your videos to the show itself. He not a huge fan of the show or books like I am. I had the books on my self before the show even came out. He says the show is "Too Much crap" and that your videos are more "watchable" then the HBO "Crap". Good job with this video again you guys hit EVERY nail in the coffin.

I don't know if you've already made these connections in a later video but I notice several of the connections you make between Bran and Arya's narratives also apply to Danaerys and her story. Bran tasting the weirwood paste and Arya smelling the House of Black and White both very closely mirror the experience of Danaerys drinking shade of the evening. I'm also reminded of the "inverse weirwoods" with blue leaves and black bark that surround the House of the Undying. Do you think there's a connection between The Undying Ones and the children of the forest? Maybe they're another 'species' of Children local to Qarth?

All this talk of the underworld just reminds me, yet again, of my need to read Lovecraft's Dream Cycle to look for clues.
let us know what you find! i got alot going on over here already reading about the symbolic meaning of various gemstones/stones, the skull binding practices of a Congolese tribe, a burial ground in Ancient Egypt that has similar niches with skulls, the third eye being the portal into the demonic realm, that i just dont know if i can delve into another source.
Mission definitely accepted. I'm hoping to make an in depth study of Lovecraft when my schedule frees up this summer. I haven't read a lot of his work since I was a teenager. I'm hoping to get in touch with an old friend that wrote his dissertation on Lovecraft and pick his brain... then reread a few thousand pages of GRRM. LOL Yeah, lots of work! I don't take for granted what any of the better SoI&F channels put into their videos.
One could definitely make an in depth study of eye symbolism and take at least two years just focusing on that, I would imagine. Part of the problem is that there is so much nonsense on the internet, that you have to verify and get the primary sources which are never light reading. Some things you may want to look into are books published by either Brill Academic (Studies in Intellectual History series) or SUNY's series on western esotericism.

Does anyone ever comment on their respective Weirwood trees (on their castles, grounds, lands etc) having different expressions on them sometimes? I can't remember, but in my head, the tree at Winterfell always has a long, solemn face. Does this then mean that only *one* greenseer (most likely BR, I guess?) has looked in it whilst the current Stark family have been in residence/alive?
Is it the same at other Weirwood locations? If there are so many different COTF greenseers, you'd think they'd be looking into Winterfell quite a lot, but the face (to my knowledge) has always been the same. Maybe they *make* themselves take on that solemn appearance so as not to raise suspicion, and Bran's just a newbie.
I haven't seen all of your videos, so maybe you already came up with it, but have you ever thought about that all weirwood trees could be one giant organism, their roots being a worldwide net, like funguses mycelum, the visible trees just like mushrooms, whilst the greatest part grows deep under the surface? This could be the reason why they can't be killed, why they are all connected, because they are in fact ONE.

Just a thought about the doors of the house and black and white... I think it's likely that you only need to say 'valar morghulis' to get in and not also show the coin to it. Otherwise how would the common folk who go there to die get in there? faceless man training makes you the weapon...she wouldn't have to beat them in a fight...faceless men kill people without anyone even knowing how it happened, with poison and the like and the face changing makes it so they can walk right up to their victims and kill them, then run around the corner, change their face and casually walk away
I have seen you mention the eyes that Jon see several times. I went back and re-read that part, and it appears to me that he saw a shadowcat's eyes. It's in the same paragraph where he describes hearing the shadowcats roar.
+Aron Jansson Nordberg but if you read what qhorin says later he said they were spotted...he hears a shadow cat roar in the distance. Then he sees a pair of eyes as large as harvest moons on the ledge. Harvest moons are huge .... I don't think shadow cats have eyes that large
A harvest moon isn't necessarily any larger than any other moon, full or not. Were the eyes really that large or is that just Jon's interpretation? The eyes are interesting, for sure, but very open to interpretation.
I always interpreted the "spotted" comment to be about Orell's eagle, which had indeed spotted them and was following them. They could not escape it! The men on that mission knew what that eagle was, just like they understood Jon was a warg (after he told them of his wolf dream) even when Jon didn't understand what he was.
More interesting is that Qhorin recognized that the tree's have eyes again! Again? Hadn't they always had eyes? Haven't they been watching for millennia?

thank you...we think it is, but haven't yet stumbled on how deep it is...I think it is extremely deep which allows it to connect across the Narrow Sea but without finding something resembling text evidence we'd get slaughtered for saying it in a video
OMG this has left me with so many questions!!!! Does Aryas face really change as much as she's told???? Does Aryas telepathy change her face???? Why is Jaquin the only one who seems to be able to completely change his face???? There are differences between Jaquin and Pate. Such as Jaquun doesn't mind being call Pig boy???? And couldn't the House of Black and White have evolved and been rebuilt and added to over the years???? Jaqen not caring about being called Pig Boy is because Jaqen doesn't care about anything and him not getting mad at being called that could very easily be viewed as personal growth by smart, intellectually curious men that either are Maesters in training or Maesters or Archmaesters he would be around would be likely to see it that way....the house of black and white is called the house of black and white and the only thing black and white that people see is the doors so it seems like the doors are the trademark of the temple so it stands to reason that they have been there since the beginning

As I said last week, I love your videos. I don't agree with 100% but I appreciate the work you put in. Curious to see a video in the future on how much of your Theories you believe Varys and Littlefinger know about. Do they know the whole story (maybe Varys) or are they just being opportunistic (probably littlefinger).

The seven/the gods of the Andals are ALSO an offshoot of the many faced god. So basically, even though the Andals fought the First Men for being 'heathens', they actually were worshipping the same god; and the first men fought hard to protect their religious freedom, but don't realize that they're basically just worshipping a the same god and a death cult anyways? In your theory, are the followers aware of the connection?
Question: what does it say about the children/Faceless men that they can't kill someone whose name they know?

great video as always guy's, I loved it and I agree totally with you except about that Thistle sees that the face on the weirwood tree looks like Varamyr Sixskins because she tore out her eyes and bite off her tongue because of him.
that's what Varamyr from the tree said...he said she had glowing blue where her eyes had been and she looked right at him and he thought "ooo, she sees me."
The Order of the Green Hand he does, but I think it's like Arya thinks the carving in the door watching her and maybe the walkers can see beyond what men could see because of their connections with the children, but what I mean that when she became a Wight she wouldn't see him like theon saw bran ( which could be from guilt or the fact that he might be mentally unstable like the hooded man thing ) and Wights don't seem to recognise nor identify any one. so I don't think it's fit as a prove but other than that it's an excellent job (:

What do you think of the title A Song of Ice and Fire? Most people just think about ice and fire, but what about the word song? Your videos make me think the song part is a reference to the children and another cryptic clue from GRRM. I came across a passage the other day which indicates that the first long night was ended by a Last Hero in Essos who convinced Mother Rhoyne's "many children" to put aside their bickering and sing a secret song that brought back the day. You are totally on point, in my opinion. I am still working it out in my own head, but as soon as we do, we will release a video. :)
When are you guys gonna talk about the shade of the evening drink that the Warlocks drink? It’s made from a tree that is exactly the opposite of the Weirwood Trees.
We know that slavers traveled beyond the Wall in search of wildling slaves, so there's a chance some of the slaves that founded Braavos were wildlings. We also know that weirwood is used as a building material - a very good builing material - so it wouln't surprising me if some of the slavers or traders from the free cities either purchased or even cut down weirwoods while in Westeros. One exampel is in one of Dany's visions in the House of the Undying. Here she notices that the doors are made out of weirwood and ebony (coincident?).
I mention this because if the Faceless Men worship the weirwood trees (which I can believe), it seems weird to me that they would cut them down and use them as building material. Using already cut down trees, however, could almost be looked upon as rectifying others' mistakes, by giving the trees a "worthy" usage again. I don't doubt that there are weirwoods in Braavos, it seems like a fitting place for them to grow in Essos, but it sounds weird to me that the FM would cut them down and use them as building material.
Another minor thing, it seems to me that when Meera is talking about Old Nan, it is more to comfort Bran, who wonders if she was killed by the ironborn. For me it seemed more like a "keep her in your heart, and she will always be with you" moment.

Not sure that it would be considered an act that defiles the god they worship. Also, the House of Black and White was built long before Braavos became a port city, which we mention in the video. Braavos was, after all, the secret city for a very long time...Also in regards to meera's statement to bran, I think that yes that is what it appears to mean on the surface, and it does seem to serve that purpose as well, but I think there is a double meaning here, like you need to pay attention to he stories old nan tells (including us the reader)
I imagine the bows were made from branches, so it would be much easier for the trees to grow out again. I also feel like there's a difference between a vital survival tool, and some chairs and a door. And I was thinking more along the lines of perhaps the ships the slavers took over had some weirwood in them. Either material laying around, or perhaps even a part of the ships. It's not really that important, though, just another option.
Also, a small piece of constructive criticism. When I go look up some of the quotes you're using, it feels like your cherry picking or taking it out of context. That's not necessarily true, but when you exclude parts of the quote, it makes me feel like you're deliberately taking away the context so it fits your theory. Take the Meera quote as an example. In your video you only included the part where she says "remember Old Nan's stories ...", without the context. I can agree with your explanation in your comment, but I think you would seem more trustworthy if you included these details in your video. Another example is a comment someone else made about how Thistle was blind. Again I quite liked the explanation it your reply, but when you exclude that part from the video it makes me wonder. It doesn't seem to be a big issue for most of your viewers, but for me, at least, it makes me wonder if you deliberately exclude things other places as well. You speak with confidence, and you make the viewers believe what you say, but I think that if you included some "counter arguments", and talked about how they are false or not necessarily true, it would strengthen your theories. I think you did that quite well in your N+A=J and R+L=A videos, but I'm missing it in videos that explore new areas, where you're not talking against widely believed theories.
I'm not necessarily accusing you of cherry picking, but the way you present your videos makes me wonder.
How long do you want our videos to be? should we start reading the entire chapter we are going to take a quote from to ensure that the context is there? We were making a point about the accuracy of Old Nan's stories and why she said that to him was irrelevant...it it was we would have taken the time to explain the context... remember that GRRM wrote all of it, so really it could be said that he was the one telling his readers to listen to what Old Nan says because she is always right...and I am well aware that Thistle tore her eyes out...but Varamyr specifically said "And in the pits where her eyes had been, a pale blue light was flickering, lending her coarse features an eerie beauty they had never known in life." He then thinks that she sees him...that's not cherry picking...that's using text quotes to back up our ideas...and the ships that were taken over by those who founded Braavos was on its way from Valyria to Sothoryos...I guess it could be possible that there was a wildling on board one of the ships, but it seems incredibly unlikely since the Valyrians were known to enslave those they defeated and they never defeated anyone in Westeros...
Actually, I think you could make quite a good audiobook, but no I don't expect you to include much more. I said that I wasn't accusing you of cherry picking, but that in my opinion it would be good (rhetorically) if you refuted some percieved counter arguments and expanded upon some of your quotes. It's clear that most people in the comments don't care, but it bothers me some, which is why I brought it up. It's entirely up to you how you structure your videos, I was just giving you my two cents.
We haven't felt the need to refute other theories recently and we were told that we really pissed other theorists off when we did that in our earlier videos, so we've been trying to stay in our own lane so to speak...sorry if my last response was a little aggressive...I thought you WERE accusing us of cherry picking evidence to support our claims and we put so much time into crossing our Ts and dotting our I's that I got irritated
Another great video, yet I'm confused.
In the North people keep saying By old gods and the new. Additionally, in the Catelyn first chapter: "...his gods were the old ones, the nameless, faceless gods of the greenwood they shared with the vanished children of the forest".
(I'm not a native English speaker. Does this mean that they shared the Gods or the Greenwood?)
So, I assume that when people of the North speak of the Old Gods, they mean the Tree Gods of the children of the forest, and not some old old gods of the First Men.
Yet, it strange that Catelyn thinks of them as faceless when there are clearly faces on these trees!
And you also suggest that Old gods of the First Men are the faceless gods of life from the times before the pact with the Children, aren't you?
So, my question: Do you think that after many years of accepting the Tree Gods, people just mixed their Old Gods with the Tree Gods (they didn't know that it is one god with many faces)? But on the grand level there is a clear distinction between many faceless gods and one many-faced god?
I hope I conveyed my concerns more or less clearly...
