- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called off a high-profile briefing with US lawmakers amid an impasse over future US funding for the country.
Virtual appearances in the Senate and House had been scheduled for Tuesday, but were cancelled at the last moment.
It came after a top Ukrainian official warned they are in danger of losing the war against Russia if more US military aid is not approved.
Senate leader Chuck Schumer did not explain why Mr Zelensky was a no-show.

Let's get another thing straight: Ukraine never gave up any nuclear weapons - UKRAINE HAS NEVER HAD ITS OWN NUCLEAR WEAPONS. The only weapons that have ever been stationed in Ukraine were Soviet weapons, which they took back when Ukraine became independent. That is a well-documented fact.
Exactly, that narrative annoys me just as much as the "Ukraine is defending Europe" line. Ukraine isn't defending Europe, NATO is. This is evident in that Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia haven't been invaded once since entry into NATO.

that is not true at all. the "soviet weapons" were not "taken back"by a "they", because there was no soviet union left. the soviet nuclear arsenal was split among soviet states the same as any other soviet state property, and other soviet military assets (namely russia,belarus, ukraine and I think kazakhstan inherited nukes). those ukrainian nukes were 100% ukrainian state property, the only difference between russian and other soviet nukes was that the russians retained the soviet launch access, whereas the non-russian nukes would have needed to be reprogrammed/hacked/equipped with a new launch or perhaps new targeting software. but ukraine would have been the former soviet republic most capable of doing that, it was always the number 2 to russia in arms production and development, and in nuclear development especially.
russia did not claim ownership over the other soviet republics' nukes after independence,t hey negotitated together with the western powers handovers to russia for keeping or destroying in direct acknowlegement of the fact that those newly independent states legally owned these nuclear weapons.
