Nice , I planted 2 Manila mangos from Home Depot in Paso. Hoping we gradually transition to winter freeze. I bet yours survive being on top of the hill!

Thank you for watching my video. You should not have any problem growing mango in Paso Robles as long if your soil is sandy. Subtropical fruit trees do not like clay soil. That is why I mix 50% sand to native soil & lots of gypsum plus I planted on a mound to make sure my trees survive. Will keep you updated on the mangoes.

I love your story 😂. What you definitely had was definitely Keo Savoy variety. It is a considered the gold standard for green sweet mangos. Mun kun si also a sweet green crunchy variety. Maha Chanok is not, but it is excellent mango. Unfortunately, i feel you may run into quite a bit of challenge this winter and i hope you don't give up on mangos. The Florida rootstocks mangos do not do very well in ground in California and planting this late in the year has not given it anytime to get established. Even in Socal most dies for us. My recommendation is to get started on rootstocks of those big box store mangos u seen which are usually referred here as the La Verne/Everde Manila. They are hardy and vigorous growers that are the primary rootstocks prefer for mangos growers here. I would pick some of those up as an insurance tree that you can graft onto once it gets establish. Goodluck, happy mango growing!

Thank you for the advice. I did pick up a Manila mango tree this afternoon just for my experiment and I have two more mango tree arriving by end of the week from Florida. I am keeping my finger crossed the mango will survive the winter here. From what I read the nursery in Florida said the rootstocks could withstand temperature down to 25 degree. When we first move here ten years ago. Every nursery in the areas tells me you cannot grow citrus, bougainvillea or avocados in Paso Robles, It will not survive the winter here. Well I proved them wrong. I have mature citrus, bougainvillea and avocados producing trees on my property.😆 Even Grey Alder master garden his avocado trees get burn in the winter in Southern Ca. My avocado trees don't get burn in Paso Robles. All of my subtropical fruit trees survive three day of snow of 2023. Coming soon, I will have video of snow of 2023.

You should plant the seeds a lot of Thai mangoes are polyembryonic so they should grow true to seed.

Thank you for watching my video and the info on Thai mangoes are polyembryonic. I am new to growing mangos. It's an experiment. I have been doing lots of research on mango growing conditions and grafting and growing from polyembryonic seed. And I think I could grow mangos in Paso Robles CA. Because I could grow avocados without protection and it survive the winter without protection and it is producing fruits. I should not have any problem with growing mangoes.🤞Will keep you updated on the mangoes
