NerdCore was WAY more niche when it started out in the 90’s/early 00’s, with topics being truly nerdy things like rapping about literature and computers and shit- Nerds who rapped. It started slowly evolving to branch out to more mainstream adjacent and pop culture relevant things like anime and video games, and exploded during the pandemic. Now, it’s some of the best music out there FULL STOP! Always appreciate the love you show for the scene ✊ ~_~

so, nerdcore is a self prescribed label, one could rap about nerdy things and claim to not be nerdcore(sabaton could technically qualify as nerdcore), but it typically revolves around nerdy things(duh) like video games, science, movies/tv shows, etc, and is largely defined by the community on youtube, considering its a relatively new subgenre, consisting of self published artists from all walks of life whom simply have a passion for music and nerdy material. if you plan on diving down the nerdcore rabbit hole, even if only in your spare time, i personally recommend: JT music Dan Bull Rustage Stupendium Fabvl Divide Nerdout My personal fav is JT. While they might not spit crazy like DPS, he tends to lean into the more expressive style, emphasising different words n syllables to enhance the tone of the raps. If you haven't already, DPS' song on Ben 10 goes hard, and his black myth wukong rap is dope af(even takes a shot at labels) Edit: i forgot to recommend Rustage - Kami, brother spits his shii while puffin his chest(deservedly so)
