    Yeah, the funniest part is Javy Baez didn’t know the rule either. 😂
    After the runner touches home plate, he raises his arms, and jumps in the air to celebrate. He thought that the run had actually scored at that point.
    Of course, even though he was safe at home, the run didn’t count at that point. The run didn’t count until they overthrew it to 1st base, because that meant Baez was safe at 1st. That’s the very first moment the run actually counted. 😂
    Just a bunch of brain fart moments all around. You gotta love these wacky plays that happen every once in a while in sports.
    I guess I’ll give a tip of the hat to Javy though…he was able to sow so much confusion that nobody knew what was going on. Which ended up helping his team score a run. (I’m curious as to whether they counted that as an RBI, or not).

      @anthonylombardo1261 Месяц назад +3

      This comment exists for people who didn’t watch the video?? And what makes you question if it’s an RBI? It’s pretty clearly an RBI, somebody who loves to type long winded explanations of the rules also doesn’t understand the simple ones?

    • @TinKnight
      @TinKnight Месяц назад

      Even when a run scores by way of an error or 2, if it's on a live batted ball, the batter will always get the RBI. Even if it had been a dropped third strike leading to the whole kerfuffle (& thus not "batted"), it still would've been an RBI.
      The only time an RBI ISN'T awarded is during a double play that succeeds, or on a wild pitch/passed ball.

    The 1B is entirely to blame for his blunder but he can thank his teammates, beginning with the 3B for an errant throw that pulled him fairly far off the bag and allowed Javy's evasive move to incite the false belief that there was a run-down situation (which he also played poorly).
    The 2B could have saved him from himself by going to 1B and yelling for the ball.
    This play would be humiliating for a high school team.

    One thing I am confused about . . the rule states that when a tag is attempted the runner must stay in a base path . A lot of people interpret this rule incorrectly . . The rule defines the base path as the most direct route to the base . . but the rule is only active if there is a tag attempt . . so you can run in any direction . . but the minute there is a play, your path must be a direct line to the base. If it were between any other base, it would be okay to run back and forth between bases . . but in the case of home and first . . home is not a "safe" base to run to, so the ONLY base path should be the one directly to first base . . and since Javy is running AWAY from the ONLY base that would be an option to go to, it should have been an out by running out of the base path.

  • @robertloveless4938
    @robertloveless4938 Месяц назад

    The video I watched I couldn't see this - did the batter go back and touch home? If so, he was "occupying" that base, and runner would be automatically out. POINT 2- if the batter didn't reach 1st base safely, wouldn't he still be forced out at first, thus the run wouldn't count. I mean, IF this was a double play situation, and base runner reached home before the last out was recorded, if still doesn't count. Shouldn't matter if the out was a tag, or caught at 1st base.

    • @cubsfanman-nx6pg
      @cubsfanman-nx6pg Месяц назад

      Him touching home doesn't matter at all so I dont know why you're saying that. He can't "occupy" the plate otherwise every runner would be called out if they stepped on home when they were running to first.
      Secondly I dont get what you're trying to say here but if they get the force out then no runs count even if they tag him
