Diaz may have created 63 chances but out of those 63 only 5 were big chances created in thr premier league. Lots of people say one of Klopp's weaknesses was being too loyal to players, so Drifty needs to get over this blind loyalty to players and start being more objective. Improving on Diaz improves Liverpool. At the end of the day we want Liverpool to improve
I'd sell Diaz simply because he's reached his ceiling at 27, and this is the best chance of getting a good fee for him.

A Chance Created is any pass that results in a teammate shot. Liverpool took the most shots in the league. Over 200 more than City in 2nd. So LFC players tend to have the most chances created.
Diaz has 2.2 chances created per90. That makes him 6th at LFC for that stat. He's also 8th for expected assists (xA per90).
So Chances Created isn't a good metric to disprove diaz not being creative. Infact, he has 5 Big chances created in the PL and that makes him 7th at LFC despite playing the 3rd most minutes.
TL;DR Diaz doesn't create enough and using the chances created stat is misleading because he plays the most for the team that creates the most.

Luis Diaz's passing and decision-making always lets him down. Don't see that improving to the level we need to achieve our ultimate goal
Glad Drift is bringing a balanced perspective to these conversations. They should be happening, we're Liverpool and we always have to upgrade, but we can be so fickle as fans. Drift recognizes that we're football fans, not statisticians, there's only so much we can understand from a base level analysis of stats. It constantly feels like fans will take certain stats, isolated from further context, and present their opinions as objective when they're being just as reductive as people who blindly protect their favorite players. If football was so simple, anybody could do the job. I fully agree that we should always be thinking about how to improve the team, which is why I really appreciate the Kopish crew for actually having productive conversations. Drift gets a lot of flack for being overly protective of the team, but he's really just being conservative. Preciate Cal and Matt as well obviously, big up the show, best LFC channel, up the reds! Speaking of over zealouos, kinda get the feeling Slot might do a madness next season ...
PS: Don't wanna make it sound like Cal and Matt are being unreasonable by the way, they're making totally rational points and are just probing like sensible folks who wanna see the team stronger, I'm grateful for the multiple perspectives to be clear. Drift be on a wild one sometimes too

Drifty on one hand will moan about fsg and our budget but on the other hand say we can keep 70m pound players like Diaz and Nunez on the bench, it makes zero sense. We are owned by owners who don’t spend a lot so we don’t have the capacity to keep players on the bench when they could fund first team upgrades

@KOPISH It’s common sense if you have an unlimited budget like City, Chelsea, Arsenal, United etc , our owners don’t move like that, we are skint, we need to sell to reinvest in the starting 11. That’s facts, nobody is saying Nunez and Diaz aren’t squad worthy, it just happens to be the fact that they are actually worth something and can bolster the transfer kitty if sold for better players

Kendrick is R9. Injury prone & inconsistent from year to year, but capable of being the best when he wants to be.
Nobody thinks R9 is better than Messi based on longevity, versatility, or individual achievements unless they are biased.

@Drifty you do realise that creating chances ain’t all that, you do realise that when Trent spams crosses for example they they are mostly all chances if they land in the right area, so it’s kinda meaningless if you have lots of general chances created but you’re big chances created are low. Diaz’s end product is terrible, End of. It ain’t even a stats thing, he fails the eye test when it comes to actually finishing off a move or making the right final 3rd pass.
