- This unique collection celebrates the pas de deux: the ‘steps for two’ or partner dances so central to ballets both modern and classical. It brings together 16 exceptional pas de deux from The Royal Ballet’s unequalled repertory, in outstanding performances by Company dancers past and present. Representing The Royal Ballet’s heritage works and recent creations, as well as 19th-century classics, Pas de Deux demonstrates the choreographic diversity, technical brilliance, show-stopping spectacle and artistry for which The Royal Ballet is acclaimed around the world.
Included in this collection are Frederick Ashton’s Voices of Spring and pas de deux from his La Fille mal gardée; from Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet, Concerto, Elite Syncopations, Manon and Mayerling; from Wayne McGregor’s Limen; from Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The Winter’s Tale; and from the 19th-century classics Giselle, Don Quixote, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.
Pas de deux features many of the major stars of the Royal Ballet past and present, including Sarah Lamb, Mara Galeazzi, Tamara Rojo, Carlos Acosta, Alina Cojocaru, Natalia Osipova, Matthew Golding, Roberta Marquez and Steven McRae.

No company evokes 'the court' as the Royal Ballet does. Love the use of non-dancers, like the old couple upstage center, and the tender note of humanity they bring.
They very cleverly hang on to their senior/retired dancers for those parts. It has a tremendous effect.
You know you’ve watched Osipova a few times when you start a Swan Lake video not knowing who the ballerina is, then figure it out by looking at her feet. Natalia Osipova’s feet are very distinct. And then there is the jump that nearly hits the ceiling. LUV HUH!!!!!

Certainly one of the best the Royal Ballet has to offer, though there are, of course, a few others up there to keep her company…….
Superb combination. Osipova is a treasure, and I never understood why Golding is not better known. He's marvelous, both as a partner and a soloist.
His presence and style are reminiscent of the great dancer Anthony Dowell, simply a joy to watch. Osipova, spellbinding to watch, her movements conducted by those beautiful expressive hands, bliss.
She is just amazing what a treasure the Royal Ballet have in her.
To cut this in the middle is a tragedy! Nevertheless, Osipova is in a class by herself. A genius - the greatest artist currently performing and one of the all time greatest ballerinas. At the Royal Ballet she is hands down the finest Principal - her dancing goes beyond superb technique - she’s the finest dramatic ballerina. Her characterizations whether Giselle, Kitri, Odette, etc are all entirely captivating. Brava Osipova

The most bewitching Odile since another Natalia, Natalia Makarova. And just like that former Natalia, it was never about rock-solid technique, it IS about the use of the face. Osipova's face tells the whole story, and holds me rapt.

Although they are beautiful, I’ve never seen a dark/tanned dancer play this role before and I’d love to see it. Only know I notice this, and don’t get me wrong. She is beautiful, graceful and elegant!

Why so slowly?
They tend to slow down ballets all over the world. Thus all the true emotions dissapear.
Natalia is good but Marianela is better!! Every port de bras has meaning. Two gorgeous ballerinas!
