I'm convinved that Piccolo regenerating his arm is the turning point of this fight. It costs to much energy at this point. That's why Piccolo didn't do it until AFTER Raddiz was dead. Conserving the energy was more valuable than having 2 arms to fight.
I love how clever Goku is in this fight, using Piccolo's power of turning into a giant against him. And the punches during the sky fight are visceral! You can feel them! Piccolo's regeneration for the first time is a striking moment. And this episode ends with Piccolo charging up one of my personal favorite attacks from his arsenal.
The thing about Piccolo is that this isnt really "our" Piccolo anymore, and all. When Piccolo and Kami fused, they technically became their original self again, the child of Katas. Goku even calls him like "Kamiccolo" at first and he tells Goku to just call him "Piccolo" for simplicity. This is also why both Kami and Piccolo got so worked up over the idea of fusing again, cause they knew they'd both lose their individual identity.
Piccolo is still cacklingly evil at times during the Saiyan Saga. It isn't until Vegeta and Nappa arrive that he starts to be more of the Piccolo you're talking about. Prior to Gohan changing him he gleefully murders Goku alongside Raditz and forces Gohan into training to be his apprentice for taking over the world after they deal with the Saiyans with a grin on his face.
This is the best produced episode in the entire OG series. The animation is so lively and even the reused animation is stylized and impactful! A great pre-climax to the last fight in the original series!
"Goku gets stronger and stronger every time he fights." Dragon Ball Super didn't invent the during battle power boosts. Near death boost isn't the only boost Saiyans obtain.
I've been rewatching Z and, I gotta say, "our Piccolo" wasn't very relaxed until he rejoined with Kami. There's a pretty big difference between Piccolo at the start of Z (where he's more like this Piccolo) and after the fusion. Though he turned a bit more mild after he joined with Nail as well.
Roughly on his Namek rebirth was where that maturity switch kicked in. He was still cocky on King Kai's planet, but was subdued during and after Nail's fusion. He since only had the movies and parts of the Android saga to show glimpses of his past self.
Goku is Him! Not only Big battle IQ, he is fair. For me there is nobody in all anime who has this character when it comes to a fight. I would rather watch Goku fight than any other anime character that’s how special Goku becomes when he starts to fight.
Actually the whole Saiyan thing was planned way before. In early episodes like red ribbon army an android scans Goku say alien lifeform then malfunction. Goku was always an alien even back in season 1 and 2
Piccolo getting hit by his own blast is what goku uses as a training strategy later on. He lets himself get hit by his own blasts to test his endurance.
If the worst happened, with teamwork, I think that Roshi, Krillin, Yamcha and Tien could probably stop Piccolo at this point. Tien pins him down with his Tri-Beam, and the other 3 blast his ass with a joint Kamehameha. Or they can just seal him up with the Evil Containment Wave. Piccolo was a bit overconfident here. In *_Z_* , it's been shown before that the others are powerful enough to take 'Big Green' on together (At least around the 'Sayian' and 'Frieza' sagas)
Today... on POWER LEVELS ARE BULLSHIT! Remember- a single Saibaman would wipe the floor with either Goku or Piccolo, and likely could take every one else combined out (maybe not counting Kami).
12:19 I’m still surprised that Toriyama never had Piccolo use this technique during all of DBZ, not until the TOP arc in DBS. Hell why isn’t this his level 3 move in DBFZ?
There are many techniques that I am convinced Toriyama simply forgot during Z. In Super it was probably Toyotaru who remembered those moves and made the characters use them again.
Toriyama didn't have people use techniques a lot of times likely cause he just forgot about them. He's not exactly the most reliable creator when it came to sensible reoccuring/ongoing threads XD
T#at would #ave killed anyone...includin& piccolo and &oku durin& Raditz battle to be fair...never stop w#en your enemy is down...murder in cold blood🥰

3:22 gotta love yamcha proving that, even if he's not the strongest in the room, he can still be the smartest :p
Aah ,Feet Kamehameha ,Tarantino's favorite technique
4:10 - 4:34 Goku using his feet to do the Kamehameha 🔥🔥🔥
10:46 - 10:51 Piccolo's facial expressions 💀💀💀

One of the best fights in Dragon Ball

Yeah, cause Piccolo post fusion is not *really* this Piccolo. He even says so himself, they just call him Piccolo for convenience.
Piccolo is calm now in dbz because raising kid gohan as a single parent was too traumatic for him 😅
@@amazonrocks7349 oh come on. It wasn’t that bad. “Bite your tongue Gohan” I think it was worse for little Gohan.
11:34 These days you can't even show the purple blood they gave him in Z, let alone this much red like this.
The purple blood wasnt done for censorship tbf, it was supposed to be like this ik the manga, the anime just got it wrong

Clever tactics from Goku to use the energy wave against piccolo 11:36
Here comes his massive explosion wave
Piccolo really was proto Vegeta
Piccolo’s arm was injured like Gohan’s in the Cell saga!
Back to it. We're so close to getting to the end of this. It's going to be a lot of fun to re-watch GT with someone after so many years of seeing it.
What do you expect Piccolo is literally 3 YEARS OLD of course he's gonna act like this
No, this is the first time we witness the regeneration from piccolo
Everyone seemed to forget that it’s just a tournament.
Just like in the previous tournament when the Crane hermit used Chiaotzu to cheat by keeping Goku from being able to dodge or fight back against Tien.
I love how he never uses the door kamehameha wave again.
Alexandria Jashinsky. lol.
Certainly an episode of all time
Goku is a fighting genius he may be slow in alot of other things but fighting that's when he's at his best
Yamcha: I'll show you inept!
Yes Yamcha. You will.
And the green meanie genie is summoned

Piccolo calls out Goku's friends
Don't forget the movies! There's 4, and the first three are basically mini adventures with different stories about the first three arcs
4? Are you counting Path to Power?
@@specialnewb9821 yes, technically takes place during dragonabll timeliness despite being it's own thing. Also and amazing movie
That a secret animelon without the others knowing what was real reason behind Goku's strength
The legendary foot Kamehameha!
I don't know, they gave Goku a tail and had him transform, I kinda feel like Akira Toriyama atleast loosely plan it from the start.
Goku is just playing by the rules, but he simply want to defeat piccolo this way
Awesome kami is free. Goku really got brains. Sucks that super made him so dumb
He’s not disqualified cuz Kami volunteered to jump in he didn’t tell him to do that
Kamehameha wave as a feet popeller
Both fighters pulled a Houdini on us
Piccolo is giant!❤🎉😊
Thank you ❤

@@edward18517 sadly true...and refused to take notes😂
Goku simply wears him out until he has to resort to cheap tricks
Goku's a fly in piccolo's throat
4:49 This is the first time I have ever seen a Kamehameha from his feet
Gohan was named after me. .... Just a fun fact.
This won't be the last time Goku faces off with someone who can get bigger.
Goku's nothing without honesty
Yes, Goku has a bag of tricks
It's a slugfest in the sky
My name is Hon Wiyual Kang I live in Omaha Nebraska I'm South Sudanese American man ❤🎉😊
Gohan saved Piccolo
Keep up the good work
I don't think the age is the reason for his anger
Hey missed ya buddy
Yamcha: "I'll show you inept!"
Yes, you will, during the Saiyan Saga where you get self-destructed by a Saibaman.
T#at would #ave killed anyone...includin& piccolo and &oku durin& Raditz battle to be fair...never stop w#en your enemy is down...murder in cold blood🥰
Are you reacting to DBZ after this?
The thumbnail 😭
Goku only use it with his bare feet which was possible
Feet Kamehameha? Wonder what else Goku can use that move for. Perhaps stinky fart Kamehameha on Bacterian?
I suppose piccolo can destroy Goku's body with his finger
I like Dragon Ball anime show!❤🎉😊
Hi!❤🎉😊
Yessssssssss
I despise super but shouldn't the mechanics of ultra ego be more applicable to goku?
The worst has yet to come in the next two episodes
Yeah, goku should be disqualified here, making piccolo the tournry winner.
Then Goku should've won the last tournament when Chiaotzu immobilized him during his match with Tien.
@@benjaminsierra280 that is very true from my logic!
