Wow, Wow, Wow and Wow. Did I say Wow? This was the best 5th quarter battle I have watched in years. Dr. Taylor and Mr. Simmons my hat off to both of you. Excellent work with our future musicians. The genre of music touched all ages.

The sequence of TSU playing Shame, then Southern playing Boogie Oogie Oogie was beautiful. Great stuff from both bands.
Txsu came in and made a statement that it's now the top 3 not 2 anymore and i definitely agree. But SU reestablished dominance and actually for the first time the kids were having fun because they got to unleash and as the battle went on GOT STRONGER! ...IMPRESSIVE!
that fight for three is still up in the air. Both A&M and ASU are at the top of their game too. I need to see TxSU against one of these groups to give them that 3 spot.

Brian’s writing is epic. Both bands did very good. SU have 40 tubas and their brass is beyond belief. It will be hard to match their power, but TSU also did an amazing job can’t wait to see PV.
It was an epic experience seeing SU in front pull out the unexpected for the 5th quarter. This is kinda close tbh 😅

LOL, man this too funny, because Mr. Simmons and his amazing TSU marching band just debunked that, “Playing in the corner excuse”, a certain band love to use to justify them not being able to match SU. I mean just listen to how TSU handling their businessssss, over there in that same corner. Mmm, what’s the excuse now? TSU just debunked and proved that playing in that corner has absolutely nothing to do with your performance, because they sound incredible! Lol, TSU proved once again that playing in that corner really doesn’t affect your musicianship abilities. AGAIN, it all boils down to musicianship, the arrangers pen game, and song selections people. TSU surely proved they’re a force, and that simply cannot be denied. Both bands did a phenomenal job here, so I’m giving the WIN to both of them. This was the best battle so far this season, because no other band matched SU like TSU did here. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

@@dennarddancer1960 Well tbh, just ask yourself this question…Do bandheads ever ask other HBCU bands like AAMU, ASU, FAMU, ASU, etc. that same question, “What is the real purpose of AAMU, Alcorn, FAMU, ASU putting their visiting bands in small corners at their stadiums?” NO THEY DON’T! They ONLY bring up SU corner, WHEN THE BATTLE IS AGAINST SU. You guys NEVER COMPLAIN about visiting bands being in the corners, at the other HBCU stadiums. That alone speaks volumes!

This battle was exactly what we collectively needed. Clearly both bands pack some serious student talent and mad dedication! The band directors and staff put forth all the effort in every category, including auxiliaries. That ANY TIME, ANY PLACE may as well be sent to Janet Jackson asap so she can stamp it with cerified platinum approval!
TXU (TSU is on 35HUNNIDJMB, Cashville, TN) hit a stunna with that Ready or Not! Call up the Edmonds and get ya stamp as well! Kudos fr all the way around and on both sides!

TxSu has that tone and balance that is undeniable. I was in Dallas last year and SU was loud and obnoxious, but I see they toned it down this year. So, who really influenced who? I love both Directors because they are products of the Jukebox, which is newsworthy that the best two out there are Louisiana grown. This year is a tie, because TXSU was able to hold their own against Goliath with that incredible tone again. You can hear every tone, top to bottom. SU had to match me just to compete. Overall, outstanding competition, we’ll worth the money.

For the 7th round, I like the groove from the SU tubas. TXSU on the other hand, it sounded like 1-2 trumpets overblew the last note. Thus, I’m giving it to SU

Great battle. TxSu came and played!💪🏽 This is officially no longer, a lopsided fight anymore. This shows that if you give Brian S 5-10 more years, they will be at the level of southern. Southern had the edge but this was a great battle. 👍🏾

Man.. That Glow from Barry Gordy's last Dragon was NICE!!! it has a nice semi dark tone to it.. There was a few minor mistakes but the writing was perfect. Imo.That Ready or not was a bad answer to it.

@@nightrider222222 For starters I am not a boy I am all woman mmkay😂 Next and equally as important I am a musician a musician that happens to be a fan. Txsu did not win that battle last year imo. Txsu is now a great program and is definitely in the conversation for top 3. They sound great and have great arrangers. Brian is my favorite arranger of all time he is the 🐐yessir he has turned that program around let’s just be grateful for that. There MIGHT come a day/night that Txsu will get the W over SU it just wasn’t last night😂🤣💀 IMO🤷🏽♀️

Honestly idk what happen to southern in the beginning of the Season, between bands not showing up to games for what ever reason and them not being as in sync as we know them to be I knew if no other band was going to get that heat it was going to be TXSU which they did a hella good job but SU stepped … the boombox BOTB will be one for the books💛💙🌹

Texas all day. From the pen amazing arrangements, and there clear distinction of PPP TO FFF is untouchable. There book is full of lifetime music that catches the ear from start to end. Texas and JSU TOP TWO FOR BAND OF THE YEAR.

Su was completely in war mode the whole time and Txsu was not. Some of Txsu arrangements were on the soft side. Simmons needs to give us more arrangements of his. Also buddy from Jackson that’s on staff.
Some of these arrangements are a little fast. When playing Disco, you are to be in the pocket of the groove, not too fast or too slow. I think some of these tunes would be much more effective if they slowed them down just a little and stay within the pocket.
