"In that watching there is learning. And therefore when you are learning you become the teacher. So you are both the teacher and disciple, and nobody else on earth." That insight is the very ending of psychological dependence on another for answers.
The essence of his teaching is : Be a light to yourself. Don't be second hand. But that requires one to unlearn every thing that impedes clarity of mind. J k helps us in pointing out these things to unlearn.
Thanks for technology . J Krishnamurti words are so profound that a conditioned mind like mine needs multiple replays to absorb and comprehend every word, sentence he says which sounds like a knife cutting through ignorance but at the same time showing lots of love and compassion to his fellow people ❤
As the word Guru suggests - gu means darkness, ru means dispeller - dispelling darkness. How to dispel darkness? You cannot kick the darkness out of a place because darkness is not an existence by itself. Darkness is absence of light. We value light for the clarity that it brings us. If you were an owl, darkness would bring clarity to you; light would be disturbing and blinding; this is also true for many other creatures in the wild. No matter in what stage of life you are, what aspect of life you are addressing, the most important thing is to have clarity about it. You want to be able to see it the way it is. Whatever it may be - whether it is a simple physical thing or mystical dimensions of life - you can deal with them sensibly only if you have the ability to see them the way it is. Seeing everything the way it is, is clarity. If someone tells you, “You are not the body; you are not the mind; you gathered this body from the planet,” your mind agrees with it, but experientially, it is not true for you. You still feel, “This is me - that is you.” What you need is experiential clarity. When there is pain, disease, or whatever kind of physical suffering, you may wish you were not the body. But it is not what you wish, it is not your reactions to situations that you face or suffer; it is not what you see in moments of compulsion; it is what you see in moments of utter clarity that really matters if you want to move ahead in life.

Guru means one who dispense illusion..who points only..who doesn't impose his illusions and stupidities on you... Mantra means under over Not becoming..also means dissolve and put away all self-centred activity..ponder over..not becoming.. Such a blessed morning as always to watch this..thanks for this

This is true that man has to understand himself by being mindful of his daily life, but a practice of sharing Divine wisdom should be followed. After we can learn from each other without following anybody
One thing to ask in regard to the various teachers or gurus - but not in a personal attack, but just as a serious inquiry is this: if God/Nature/Bliss etc. is love and is simple, then why is there endless controversy and competition between or amongst all the various teachers/teachings? Would a sane person pray for that mess to sort through? Would one actually desire it? And if not, then it can’t be love, or life supporting.
JK speaks the truth. But to be very honest, It's hard to be on the observer mode. With deep conditioning of emotions and beliefs. It's not easy to just watch yourself as you are and the situation as it is. You need A LOT of practice. And that's when people follow gurus, they are teaching us the same thing with different methods and that's completely fine as well.
Yes, i find it wierd too. You know , he was a bit too critical about gurus. There are many great gurus, not all are stupid. He himself was a guru actually.
My personal understanding is even after listening to JK if one needs Guru then nothing wrong in following Guru because after conditioning from JK you will go to Right Guru or you are destined to look for another teacher or process or method whatever you wish to interpret.
He is completely right about the mantras, but he is partially right about the guru. Guru has two meanings first of them is "weight" but there is another meaning, 'gu' means darkness and 'ru' means means light. i.e. one who guides to to light from darkness. JK had only focused on the negative aspect of his contemporaty gurus behaviour. But a true guru has a higher consciousness that guides our self easily, why should one would walk his journey without any guidance, what if he go in the wrong direction. And how longer time one should seeking himself ? And why that all if a easy guidance available without any foundations or any financial contributions ? And a true guru have nothing to do with foundation, books or speeches. He had only a thing to do and it's to lit up the unlit Candles.
Darkness is one form of illusion. Guru : The one who dispels illusions. The one who points, not the way just points. The one who doesn't impose his illusions or his stupidities on deciples. Why do you need ESAY guidance? Self exploring about oneself doesn't need any guru.
Once theosophical society had declared him an ultimate master just to come in light and to draw attention but this man came out and said that he was not and this is the only instance i like about his life and rest uttered philosophies are contradictory and prejudiced. It's my opinion may be i am wrong.
He started off by saying it's important to understand the meaning of Guru (weight, or one who dispels illusions, or one who points) (basically this means one who doesn't contaminate your mind with "misinformation") and Mantra (ponder over, but not becoming, or dissolve all self-centered activities) (basically this means to have a thought experiment without getting emotionally attached). Then he goes back to the question "is there a true guru?" He implies that "guru" isn't what you think it is. He stated where the origin of the word comes from (Northern India) and then goes on to say that they are selling you courses on how to know the self. "there is no right guru only wrong gurus ..." - here he means no one can teach you about yourself. People can teach you about math, biology, etc. but they cannot teach you about the self. When it comes to matters of the self, you are the guru and the student. He goes on to imply that learning is forever and you can never stop learning new things about yourself (inward knowledge) just like we can't know everything in the sciences (outward knowledge) as the two fields are vast and we will continue to add more. He also touched on the point that we need other people to help use learn about ourselves in a well rounded way but we are still doing the teaching(guru) and learning (student). We do this when we "watch" our behavior and thoughts, without prejudice, and then learn what we wish to change (or don't) about them. Our "watching" is the teacher, and our "learning" is the student. Because of this dynamic, no one else can teach you - what is going to be an insurmountable amount of knowledge gathered throughout your life. He uses the Greek saying/quote: "Know thyself" and says, "this doesn't mean go to some body and find out about yourself." to illustrate his point. This is a basic summary and I hope I didn't confuse you even more. But it would also helped if you listened to Alan Watts the famous (American?) philosopher. Because much of Krishnamurti's "examples" would be better understood if you have exposure to eastern philosophy. I think Alan Watts is a great introduction to that if you have a western upbringing.
You are right and I've felt that too but the more you listen to him you'll understand that we are starting off on the wrong path.. why the need for enlightenment? Why look at it as a destination? It's a lot of things... He goes a lot deeper which I can't understand many times but I still listen to him.. it only takes a few words or one example in one video... The more you watch, there is a chance you'll know a little bit more than before or things become a little bit clear.
Condemnable how he generalizes all gurus as people who gainfully peddle mantras. Just like how he speaks for the interest of "truth", there have been gurus who have refused wealth but expounded truth which is quite simply "matter emanates from an all-pervading conscience." True gurus expect nothing in return, not even your understanding. They realize the beauty of the truth and they speak spontaneously for the love of the truth. Just like creation. The creation is not for any purpose but a spontaneous expression. And mantras are a good way to remind yourself of the truth. To each, his method. Why does JK make fun of methods? One makes fun of methods just to proselytize their opinion and establish supremacy of their opinion over others. "Oh you are fools to follow gurus and repeat mantras" is simply, "I don't need gurus and mantras and I am superior to those who need these things. Look at me a free soul while you all are conflicted." Purest form of delusional ego, same as thinking "I am the all-pervading conscience." A mirror-image cannot be the same as the original.
Yes that's the point , there is no single truth and to realise that too in a human body. Not all gurus are bad and repeating mantras has to do with vibration and energy as per my knowledge . What is so wrong in it ? Criticising other methods is bad. Afterall feeling of oneness and love is important and the prime goal.
Listen carefully. He's not making fun of either gurus or methods. He's just asking people to be careful of fake gurus as that was the trend is US at the time. Lots of Indian fake gurus making money. Hard to know who's real. He wanted people to be wary of them in general as his way of philosophy was different. Also, he didn't make fun of mantras. He recognised the sanctity and sacredness of the word mantra and guru in their truest sense. To draw people away from dependance on gurus. And if you would have read the works of the gurus you are talking about then they say the same thing: 1. Do not depend on anyone. Be independent 2. Source of knowledge is within you. 3. The self can be gained only after learning to control the mind and be free of deep rooted habits and samskaras, ie, unlearning everything that we have learned. Freeing ourselves of conditionings. JK just wants people to use their intellect and eventually go beyond it. That was his way of teaching. It's called jnan yoga in yogic literature.
Guru and disciple is both the self, it is true to the one who realised it. If an outward agent cannot help at all, why even this enormous q&a session? For a realised one, there is no unfortunate thing, such as the country he refers to as unfortunate. Mind subsides with achievements and in india spiritual paths are given to subdue the mind with the sense of fulfilment. What remains after is the self. There are many who are realised in India than elsewhere. Denying a method is nothing but another method. If that wasn’t the intention, best way is to promote silence and be silent.
I was very sure of the impossibility of manifestation of the ABSOLUTE STILLNESS in a living creature... Listening to this person makes me doubt my own stance...
We were pure consciousness before our birth. If we are born to gain spiritual knowledge and to attain the state of pure consciousness then why to born as we were already a pure consciousness.
Because krishnamurti has always been against gurus and religious mantras and so on. People that attended that lecture probably knew that so when they heard the question they knew what krishnamurti was going to say. They laughed at the question.
Counter for the sake of countering, prejudiced in your mind. Dissecting things is not easy, only intelligent keen mind can take a note of it and once anyone understands they can help themselves without depending on anyone or any mantras.
He said Guru means one who preaches knowledge and dispels illlusion . Also he says guru is false..He is telling India is a unfortunate country from where he came from. Again he is preaching something and the people are listening.. he is trying to explain, which no one can experience without doing intense sadhana. I strongly feel that he is trying to teach the advitha siddantha in a wrong way to make himself a special preacher. Who ever is giving knowledge will be treated as guru, which he is also trying to do..
I don't know how much of JK you have read or watched, once i person questioned him, that after all your talks about gurus, you are the same, you are too preaching and teaching something. Upon which he smiled and said he is not doing it on purpose, a flower when blooms , it's natural for it's fragrance to be all around. You need to understand why he criticised every guru and then decide if he is trying to make himself feel special.
How can others teach you and correct your various types of stupidities when you don't understand it at many levels? If you go to a guru and tell him, "I am feeling sad", he will make you pay first and then give you some meditation steps. Meditation will not help you because you just manage to calm yourself briefly, while all the garbage stays inside. First dig out many stupidities within yourself and only you can do it by yourself by being absolutely, brutally honest with yourself. To do that, you have to deliberately ignore all the prior preconditioning from various sources. Most people cannot do it because it will shatter their false sense of security. These people would rather live a life of LIES and FALSENESS. Worse is, they defend their beliefs even when they know it is BS.
How does he know that his concept of the Guru is not posing the age old question of "reinventing the wheel" ? If you would trust a passerby to tell you where the address you need is, then I would also trust a Guru!
I trust by watching the lecture that you are a seeker. Based on that assumption, why do you need a guru? You have probably reached to this stage in life by following teachers and the rest of it. Why do you still need someone to guide you ? Why aren’t you making the effort yourself?
For me Guru doesn't mean any super human being. Guru means divine wisdom. And why don't you people accept the fact that there are some human beings who have experienced life more richly vividly and deeply than other ordinary human beings. So the company of those exalted people will always benefit the common men. The truly divine people never allow themselves to be worshipped, they never make any business. They don't promote tribalism. They just open the door of awareness, but we have to enter by ourselves. After all your videos are also paving the way for self discovery. And same function is done by them. The effect of company is very strong. If a spiritually unripe person sits with drunkards, he will definitely start drinking alcohol. Similarly, the company of conscious human beings will definitely make a difference in our lives. So please don't nullify the value of true divine wisdom that may be in any form,

To be honest it is hard to understand this man and have a gut feeling that no one gona be enlighted or liberated even in his or her thoughts.....
Read freedom from the known. Should help understand his basic philosophy.

We were pure consciousness before our birth. If we are born to gain spiritual knowledge and to attain the state of pure consciousness then why to born as we were already a pure consciousness.
why are people laughing?
Because krishnamurti has always been against gurus and religious mantras and so on. People that attended that lecture probably knew that so when they heard the question they knew what krishnamurti was going to say. They laughed at the question.
K is totally contradicting himself what he wrote in his first book "At the feet of the Master"
This man can be counterd very easily because dissecting things by the prejudiced but intelligent mind will not help anyone.
He had very sharp mind
Counter for the sake of countering, prejudiced in your mind.
Dissecting things is not easy, only intelligent keen mind can take a note of it and once anyone understands they can help themselves without depending on anyone or any mantras.
a garbage collection helps anyone

all philosphers has there on philosphy ..
Yes right.
What he said about mantra
To ponder over
Libertacao de gurus e toda a historia do.tradicionalismo ?
Why are people always laughing... just listen guys!
So please don't nullify the value of true divine wisdom that may be in any form,
🙏🏻
