I used this radio in the Air Force with the 7th Special Ops Squadron at Rhein-Main in Frankfurt in 1979-80. Our main MARS contact was in Stuart, Florida, where they patched us into land lines for overseas phone calls. We also had several of these radios in the command post for communications with our C-130s. The MARS call sign we had was AGA7RM.
Just spotted your video; thanks very much. You are one of the few hams to do a slow and clear "tune-up" video for the KWM2. Most all the others do not cover this procedure. 73 Joe Lalumia W1XWX
congratulations for the Collins KWM2A. It is really nice vintage rádio. BTW you should considere to use a wattmeter next time. Another thing: When you do a tune procedure, better to check Grid, Plate and ALC too. Without using a wattmeter, you can have low grid and plate and you dont know how much power you have tunned. good luck with Your Collins. 73 PY2EL
Buen video, pero observo una falla en el procedimiento de carga del equipo. Segun manual de Collins, dice que primero hay que realizar la precarga (TUNE) verificando la corriente de placa con el selector de medidor en PLATE, se esaforma nos aseguramos que la corriente de GRILLA sea la correspondiente, lo cual es el paso siguiente a verificar, antes de pasar el selector a LOOK para hacer la emision y ajustar a maxima potencia. En este video, se muestra estos pasos al reves, donde primero verifica la corriente en GRILLA y luego pasa a verificar y controlar la corriente de PLATE. Saludos!!

The "Cadillac" of ham gear. To think the army used these in Vietnam and probably left them lay around.
I had an army friend who watched them being buried as the US pulled out of Viet Nam.
