Best wishes with what you choose to read. I'm currently reading the Count of Monte Cristo. I might be some time! Happy reading.
Same!
Awesome stuff Niki! Glad you enjoyed Howling Dark. Good luck with your new pick. 😊
Thank you!
I liked A Memory Called Empire, but A Desolation Called Peace was three stars for me.
Shoot - I think that means I probably should consider letting those go eventually. I have zero motivation to continue.
You could try reading all the pink books first and then start on the yellow books when your done with the pink.
As it happens, for the next challenge I'm running, I'm ONLY including "pink" or "high-priority" titles. Picking from the duds can be fun because things can surprise me, but I needed a break from being at the mercy of the randomizer haha.
Lmao 🤣 I have been trying to do this as well
haha I mean, how else can I justify my decision?!
I read Howling Dark last month and LOVED it. I also found the 50 year skip forward a bit discombobulating, but shrugged my reading shoulders and moved on. Marlowe is such a clutz at times, face palm city. Fwiw, i quite liked the Martine books. Not top tier, but pretty good. 👍
Oh good!! I like "shrugged my reading shoulders" haha. I'm happy to have gotten aboard the hype train for this one because I'm loving it too. I wish I liked Martine more... I really do.
Yes it gets strange indeed!! DiW is more conventional but grander in scope.
In hindsight, I remember you talking about the weird time jump and the fact that it gets back on track shortly. I enjoyed book two so much more on reflection - I still can't wait to read on! I like grander in scope. :D
@@TheObsessiveBookseller yeah the first hundred or so pages wasn’t great for me either, with that time jump being the one part of the series I don’t love how Ruocchio handled. The book overall though has aged quite well for me and I can’t wait for an eventual reread, especially to relive everything that happened once we arrived at Vorgossos!
I liked, not loved, Memory. I DNFd Desolation.
Oh no haha. The writing is on the wall for that series for me...
I needed to skip half of the video....because I am curently reading The Memory called Empire . I like it but it is much politics. I loooove the writting so so much!
P.S. I have Sun Eater series as e-book now. To see first if I like it at all.
Oh cool - I hope you like Sun Eater - I'd be curious to hear how it goes. Definitely don't dig into that part of the vid to keep your opinions unbiased. I'm glad you're liking it!
