I can understand anything, but with my learning disability online school is extremely hard. This video taught me more than my teacher did in days. I want to do real chemistry, but I can't be in a lab. I'm a hands on learner, but this video is so simple. I realized that I could probably do university level chem, but I'm not challenged enough. Bro, this man is a universal legend. I just started stoichiometry yesterday from his videos and I thought that these concepts would be like on whole another difficulty level but they were a piece of cake > thanks to him. Hats off to youtubers like this who are teaching concepts (worth 1 week of teaching) in about 23 minutes and there are more great videos with detailed explanation of stoichiometry & other science concepts. He's the Science Teacher everyone deserves. ☺☺

    • @yungfetus5319

Well, this is probably late, but for here’s (a). You want to convert the 35g of Al to g of AlCl. The excess Cl is essentially irrelevant to the conversions. To lay it out, you want to figure out a path from gAl to gAlCl. G Al - Mol Al - Mol AlCl - G AlCl, is going to be your best bet. You multiply the 35g Al to 1mol Al/26.98g Al to find the moles of Al present in the equation. That’s pretty much dividing 35 (gAl) by 26.98 (atomic mass of Al). You do this because you have 35g of Al, but the conversion factor for grams to moles is what you want (1 Mol) per what you have (which has to be different than what you’re given). Then you multiply the result of that equation (~1.3) by the mole proportion of AlCl3 to Al to shift from using Al to AlCl3. In the equation, the proportion is 2:3:2, with the 2 corresponding to Al and AlCl3. Because 2/2 = 1 you just multiply 1.3 by one to find the moles of AlCl3. The final step is multiplying the 1.3 by the molar mass of AlCl3 (133.333g [found from adding the atomic masses of each element in its quantities of atoms [[1 atom of Al, 3 atoms of Cl]]) over 1 mole of AlCl3 (“grams per mole” (singular)). That gets you an answer of about 172.96 gAlCl3. For the next one you do essentially the same thing, ignoring the “completely” part (or at least I did that, because it confused me).

My life is depressing, but after this video I have the motivation to move out of Chad's basment.
