  • Manchester Orchestra singer/guitarist Andy Hull picked up his very first Fender electric guitar at Mars Music in Gwinnett, Ga.
It was, as he describes, “a really ugly purple Strat,” but despite what it lacked in looks, it got him hooked.
In this interview, he talks about how his guitar playing progressed, his influences and how he found his way to the Telecaster.

I never would have guessed what his amp settings would have been, but now that I think about it, and especially thinking about the tone on Cope, it makes complete sense.

TheBhannah he does have great taste and he also has a gretch that is beautiful. i have seen them live 4 times and i think he only broke the gretch out like once, maybe 2 times.

Is he still in the music industry?

Perhaps you're mistaking him for Robert McDowell? They're in the same band, McDowell plays a Gretsch, an SG, and most prominently a Tele Deluxe. Maybe they were just sharing guitars for a gig, lots of bands do that? McDowell also plays through an AC30 live, so that could explain the VOX?

Well so much is tele bridge in their music that I had to come here to confirm after I dialed in a tone that sounds just like him on my tele. Now I see that he's completely taken the neck out and it makes so much sense because that same tone sounds like ass on the neck pickup.

I don’t know why this one video was suggested to me but it’s not exactly a ringing endorsement for fender. He says he broke several fender amps and the expensive guitars sound bad

Lol. It was cut from another article on Fender's site. I guess they kept only the part about the strat. Weird!
