Amazing video G! I use Jewellery Quarter a lot for changing from the trains to the trams to new street as it saves me walking in the rain from Moor Street to New Street 😂
Loving these random station videos, Ive not heard of this station but Ive been on all of the trains youve been on. When at Coventry arena station its always a guess will it be a 196 or a 172
The flowing water at Smethwick is the Birmingham Canal but there 2 as it splits, one if the old main line built in 1769 and the other is the New Main Line built in 1829. Great video G and it is a station I've been to before
Greetings from Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Last night I came across your channel. It's a nice way of sharing the parts and bits of railways in the UK. Since I was 5 years old I have been loving trains myself too. I have to say, great vlogs with a good hint of humor. I can't love it more.
As a former Smethwickian, I can tell you that the flowing water below Smethwick Galton Bridge is "bottom cut" the Thomas Telford built "new" canal built to provide a by pass to the more twisty "top cut" , built by James Brindley, which the line passes over just after leaving Galton Bridge in the Hawthorns direction. Both "cuts" are on the Birmingham-Wolverhampton canal, alongside which the Stour Valley Line which is the route of today's BNS-Wolverhampton line, was built!
Jewellery Quarter looks amazing & ive stopped there last year on the tram & on the train & ive ridden a few 172s around Birmingham last year when i did a short stay in the city last year & ridden 1 to Accocks Green early last year & next time i go to Birmingham ill def see if i can check out Jewellery Quarter awesome vlog & im looking forward to the next random station

Lovely video. Thank you! On a personal note, when my dad died in 1999 I inherited from him a silver napkin ring that is hallmarked Birmingham 1918, so I guess it must have been made in Jewellery Quarter!
The area is called Jewellery Quarter because of the Jewellery trade, the actual area is historically called Hockley. The original railway station there was called Hockley.
Loving these random station vlogs G, what a very picturesque station (in it's own way) Jewellery Quarter is, the canal was very nice as well (plenty of them in Scaringham), very informative as always, hope your camera(s) made it safely back home. Looking forward to the next one, stay safe.
Wonderful vlog, G! You couldn't get much closer of a platform-to-platform interchange between trains and trams than at that station. The showers of rain helped give some nice lighting in the video but you also managed to keep your camera holes out of harm's way!
Altrincham is closer by virtue of the fact that platforms 1 and 2 were converted from heavy rail to light rail when Metrolink opened and the island that consists of platform 2 (Metrolink) and platform 3 (rail services towards Stockport and Manchester) isn’t very wide
A brilliant video G, I've been to the Jewllery Quarter before on the way back from the Severn Valley Railway's Autumn steam gala on that special day that everyone has every year lol, just to run onto a West Midlands metro tram lol. Certainly lots of jewllery there, I'm tempted to pay a propper visit just to have a look though.
Did you say “Screamingham” instead of Birmingham? I must convinced that neither me did find Birmingham very interesting or beautiful, but I know you call it the Venice of Uk due to all canals
The Galton Bridge on the Birmingham Canal Navigations New Mainline opened in 1829 (Thomas Telford). Jewellery Line opened in 1995. With The Hawthorns in the middle. JQ on my local line. Only takes about 25 minutes one way.
Fond memories of Brum......did a course there a few years ago in December...... 3 days and you had to walk back through the Xmas market. Never ate dinner at the hotel because Steins of German Lager and Bockwurst or better still curry wurst could not be passed by #offmyheadby9pm lol
Been there a few times when shopping for .... Jewellery. Fun fact. The mark for Jewellery made in Birmingham is an Anchor. Also the line is quite far below street level. Takes you ages to walk down the stairs.
Great video G, never been there before, it looks quite historic. Have you been to Kidderminster, and a look at the SVR station? Be wet knickers on your head that day ! 😂😂😂
15 minutes to listen to relentless pointless announcements! The best thing with Wolverhampton would be to get the elusive Platform 6 under the belt but I think that it's just used when track work blocks the main platforms?
Great vlog, shame about the weather. There are quite a few of the old urinals in Birmingham like the one outside the station. Jewellery Quarter is a great place to explore.
Excellent vlog! First place that came to mind for me was Jewellery Quarter. I was pleased for you that it was the chosen one. There are stations beginning with J in Scotland, Wales, England and even Northern Ireland Even when its raining you manage to smile and carry on. Cannot wait for the next random station, Ray x
Fantastic video G shame the rain followed you 😢 I've never seen the outside of jewelry quarter station before I will have to remember to have a look next time I'm there
According to Tony Dewick's atlas of railway station names there has never been a station in either Great Britain or Ireland beginning with X or Z. But I remember that the last entry in the old BR National Timetable always used to be Zeals because there was a bus connection there from Gillingham (Dorset).
Thanks for the video G,this is a great way to pick we're your going to. Looks a great place and thanks for the information about the area and urinal thingy!!😎🚃🚃🚃🚃🇬🇧
My 2p-worth is get a selfie stick and have a go! Ask a friend or two what they think of it. And if you can't edit it yourself, editors aren't too expensive to hire.
@@DadgeCity thank you good advice i love self commentating and travel on the railway quite a bit when working around so would like to be speaking into a camera rather than myself

Aw thanks a lot 😀

West midlands railway use the merseyrail lady for announcements didnt know that
Brilliant film G. I'd not heard of that station. Really enjoyed it.
A soggy but fun video - a shame that the railway station isn’t covered in bling which would be fitting for the name 😆

Ah yes thanks cyber!
Nice vlog G, I’ve been to Jewellery Quarter Station twice now and funny enough earlier on in the year. I enjoyed watching as always!
Cheers Sam!
A female is into trains?! That's awesome!!! Do you have a HO model train layout, or planning to build one?
I love this series so much G! I practically squealed when I seen RANDOM Railway Station... beginning with ?.

Also it seems a coincidence that this is near Scaremingham and halloween is around the corner as of the upload of this lol.
Ohh, I went on 220 007 this morning! From Wolverhampton-Manchester!
I wonder if anyone else is hoping for G to visit their nearest station?
Did you say “Screamingham” instead of Birmingham?

You’re on XC and it’s busy? It’s never empty on those. Always rammed

A great vlog G. I prefer to buy super off peak returns because of the flexibility and I'm retired so 99% of the time time is not an issue.
Hey Wolverhampton, that's my home town, that was the bad news 😂, you're video cheered me up 👍

Fantastic random station vlog as always and have you considered getting a waterproof case for your camera

Yeah it was fun to film this one, thanks Ray!
I was in Birmingham today and passed through JQ, on a tram.
This was a really good video. I could feel myself there.
just wait until selecting a random station sends G up to Thurso
Come on G, you visit Jewellery Quarter and you don't take your partner with you!
She'll have to wait 🙂
Hope you enjoyed Brum and Jewellery Quarter
Looks like you had fun despite the rain.

There was an Ashby de la Zouch station until 1964. On the old Melbourne line. I know, it doesn't quite count.
Great video 🫶🏻
Loved you calling it Scareingham and especially with your amazing accent :-)
If you scroll a bit along the Maps, you'll find, that hte flowing water at Smethwick G. Bridge is the Birmingham Canal (one arm thereof)
Like the livery of West Midlands Trains, that gold and blue looks nice
Oh no you were down by us! From Cong, been in Brum since ages. JQ is an interesting part of town.
