    That is a great one when crossing the stream - "find an alternative route". At least you were spared the pain of having to wade through the water. A triumph to have done it all the way Ed !

    Really enjoyed all 3 parts of your journey, so thanks. Memories of my own past bike trips in Scotland but coming from the other direction (from Cape Wrath) via Altnaharra and Crask Inn and Lairg. I’ve camped in woods above Killin just after the airman’s memorial and that was cold enough in early April so fair play to you for camping in the conditions you did. All the best.

      Good man, I’m grateful for the sentiments. Early April can still be winter up there for sure!
      The bit you describe has to be one of the most beautiful parts of the UK, not least for the isolation.
      Sounds like you are wired the same as me, so glad to share my attempts with you 👍🏻

    I have really enjoyed your story thru the three parts. Scotland looks really nice. . Weathervise it looks like a normal swedish winter. With proper studded winter tires that amount of snow and ice is no problem,

    Thanks Ed. Like the fact that you have a nice relaxed attitude and not a fancy bike either. I used to tour a lot often in Winter. I found the long nights got me down, stuck in the tent.

Can’t fault anything, not to much music… great commentary, Having visited the Flow country of Scotland a few weeks ago … I agree with your thoughts on it … an amazing wilderness, that A Rd to Tongue Is sensational. Brilliant Ed.. Well Done… certainly not Dull or Boring.

      I used.the official Sustrans book - title Lands End to John O Groats on the national cycle network.
      Really good and breaks it into manageable steps.

    Hi Ed, don't really know where to start. What an astonishing achievement. Did LEJOG in 11 days in May/June 10 years ago and it was one of the hardest things I've done. It feels insignificant now compared to your adventure. 31 days of biking , on your own in some atrocious weather conditions. Add to that camping and filming. Hats off mate. You have done my home country proud as well. You deserve a wee rest. Cheers.

    • @wildedventures8833
      @wildedventures8833  9 месяцев назад

      Kind words, thanks for posting them.
      I don't think anyone who has done LEJOG should call it insignificant, whatever the season. You would have been on bike twice as long as me some days and that alone is a physical achievement 👍

    Second time I have watched through your videos..love..I'm doing John Ogroats to Lands end in a few weeks time.. planning to build up my stamina before I tackle Cornwall....so questions;;; what kind of sleeping bag did you use..and probably dumbest question..did you use a sleeping mat as well..??? Also curious...what happened to the bag you started of with on the handlebars??.......total hero..well done.. amazing videos.. definitely the best I've seen...(And I've watched loads of other ones)

    • @wildedventures8833
      @wildedventures8833  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for the great feedback, it's appreciated 🙂
      I used a 4 season Kestrel bag. And wore thermals inside it.
      Definitely need a roll mat. I used a cheap one that didn't take up much space. It's more for insulation than comfort.
      And I got rid of all those bags on handlebars etc and just went for panniers over the back wheel. The handlebar bags interfered with my gear cables. Halfords do decent big panniers that go over the back wheels basically.
      Much better than having the weight on your back. Let the frame do the work.
      Good luck - it's an awesome adventure for sure 👍

    I just watched all 3 episodes today, was totally hooked 🙏 Im doing the same this April coming, hopefully in around 17 days.
    Ive always been convinced that id ride JOGLE , never thought about winds... Would you say the journey would be the same in reverse? Maybe worse, or better? Love you know your thoughts on how the two routes MIGHT be a better option , loved the videos 👍🫡💪🏕️

    • @wildedventures8833
      @wildedventures8833  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Joe, glad you found the videos helpful. In April you'll have 12 hours daylight each day to make more progress, but weather can be a bit mixed (they still get storms and snow in Scotland then), but I would really research the prevailing wind. 70% of our winds come from the SW and therefore blow NE. And 90% of our storms do the same (apparently). Strong wind in your face is a killer. I'd definitely pick LEJOG not JOGLE unless doing it in mid summer when winds are less of an issue. Cornwall is the hardest biking, so that needs factoring in too!

    I just noticed the shadow when you were cycling (along the slippery, snowy, icy track...) - you haven't got a camera mount or anything, you're just cycling one-handed when you're filming??

    • @wildedventures8833
      @wildedventures8833  8 месяцев назад

      No I do have a mount, but I don't often fix the camera to it on uneven surfaces. Even with the gyroscope on the camera, the footage can be a bit bumpy. So I hold it and this makes for smoother footage.
      You may have gathered I'm not the best kitted-up cyclist on RUclips!!
