    Your next docu on Castro should be on his immense contribution to the anti-colonial movements in Africa. It should be a stand-alone documentary. Reason he is celebrated in this our continent. He challenged apartheid in South Africa when your western countries were supporting it as gospel truth. La victoria o muerte!

    When you think about in the long run it just amounted to cheaper sugar and tobacco for the USSR and cheaper gasoline for Cuba. The only significant political impact was Cuba helping Angola and Mozambique shake of Portuguese rule and usher in socialism in both countries, something that probably would have happened without Cuban help it just would have taken longer like the Belgium Congo. The Romanticism of Che and Castro against the forces of Imperialism inspired Revolutionaries of that time all over the world and their exploits were blown way out of proportion. In the 60s posters of Che were in the homes of hippies everywhere.

    Personally, Fidel Castro may had certain flaws as a leader of Cuba, but I will NEVER accept too many negative alternative facts about Castro being a "dictator" from his detractors and enemies for many decades, especially the Cuban exiles in the United States, as well. Other than that, I also blame the United States for the criminal economic embargo that as imposed on Cuba since 1961 and continues to this day.

    • @gregrodriguez714
      @gregrodriguez714 Месяц назад

      Fidel Castro was not flawed..! Everything he did was calculated. He lied to the Cuban people, promising them free democratic elections (never happened). Fidel eliminated any and all possible opposition to his rule, including many original revolutionary leaders who dared to disagree with his "New" views and direction. He sided with the USSR, because it benefited him, not because he was a communist. Cubans live in poverty and misery, while the government elite live in mansions, drive luxury cars and enjoy privileges they once condemned the rich capitalist of having. Why do you think there are so many Cuban exiles in the United States and all over the world? Prior to 1959 there was never any Cuban mass migration. Even hardcore high ranking communists have defected! BTW, Cuba trades with over 170 Countries worldwide, including the U.S. Those Cuban Exiles? They send 4 Billion Dollars in remittances to their family members in Cuba annually..! Castro was not a dictator? Name one other leader in the world, who stayed in power for 50 years, who wasn't a dictator? Cuba is a free independent country, extremely rich in farmland and mineral wealth, yet it imports 90% of its poultry from the U.S. ? The number one enemy of Cuba is its own corrupt, self serving government..! Not the U.S.

    50 years of "involution,"

    • @dancinginfernal
      @dancinginfernal 28 дней назад

      Medical advances by Cuba excels past US ambitions by leagues, in spite of US's attempts to strangle the country. Cuba has made 50 years of progress in spite of the mightiest nation in the world, and you yet claim it goes backwards? Build a home for yourself with your bare hands and no tools, till a prosperous field with only what you can forage, and then show me a thriving economy in your wake. You could not do it. Nor could Cuba. But Cuba kept its people safe. Kept them fed. Kept them housed. That is not only because of Castro, but because of his love for his people and their efforts and love for both their nation and their people. No man is a nation. Castro knew this, and this is why he remained beloved for his time as head of the Cuban people.
      What little Cuba had to spare, it gave to oppressed peoples the world around. Castro and Cuba were one of the first to lend support to Mandela against the Apartheid regime of South Africa. He supported the Irish during the Troubles. He supported American Indigenous movements pushing for landback, and compensation. He supported the free peoples the world around. All this, even under the violent, watchful aim of the US's Intelligence Agencies and their hundreds of attempts to kill him.
      "Involution"? The only society reverting to primacy and incivility is the Western Capitalist world.

      If it is political, it is propaganda. But that does not mean it is not informative. You simply must have the presence of will to differentiate reality from the biases of the work. Even works of bias can be educational, both for and against the topic being discussed regardless of the author's intent.

      @@KalbroneognobpOgnobp Easy to say if you do not actually speak to Cubans who lived under Castro, and instead just swallow the American story. America was perpetually bitter about the man who spat in the eye of capital, and the people suffered for their pettiness. Castro tried for decades to open relations with the US, but because it was Castro the US blanket refused. Even now, they object to Cuba not for matters of policy - but for matters of pride. The thuggish US refuses to let its doorstep remain Communist if it can help it, but try as it might it cannot topple the great will and heart of the Cuban people.

Today you go 12 years in Cuba only for pacific protest against the regime. Fidel was in jail for 1 year and 10 months for planning an armed assault against a military barracks.

    24:01 "reacted swiftly and repelled the invasion in the Bay of Pigs on Cuba's North coast."
    Playa Girón ([ˈplaʝa xiˈɾon]; "Girón beach") is a beach and village on the east bank of the Bahia de Cochinos (Bay of Pigs), which is located in the province of Matanzas, on the southern coast of Cuba.
    The Missle Crisis
    25:45 "A battle of wills broke out between Kennedy and Kruschev. Kennedy won."
    Kennedy agreed to remove the nuclear missles the U.S. had installed in Northern Turkey. By this measure, Kruschev achieved what was possibly the goal all along.
    The U.S.S.R. used Castro not unlike Castro used Che.
    Fidel lost the only real friend he ever had to the mountains. I can't imagine the t-shirt was worth the cost.
