So you think a game that I already purchased twice, which sucked both times (NASB1 and 2 both were awful on release) is good enough now to make people come back? Why should I care??
@@DoctorSoctopus i mean you don’t have to care, but yeah they did basically fix the whole game atp and it’s been like this for a while, the game is at such a healthy point but no one is playing it and definitely deserves a revival. idk if this or anything/anyone else will convince you, but if it did come back to the game for a bit! hope it’ll be worth your time :)

If they don't fix the game on Switch, I genuinely can't get invested. I was promised a finished product. My problem was never even with the balance, but just the horrible optimization. I think too many people are ignoring the fact that this game runs TERRIBLY on the Switch
PLEASE let this game become popular! i really hope that people will get past the phase of "erm this game could never be the smash killer🙄" eventually and just treat the game like normal. the game isn't perfect, but it's a ton of fun 1.13 has been super nice in terms of balance. basically every character has potential to win, unless you're at the very top level of play. i encourage fans of platform fighters to try out the game!
Thank God they nerfed Slime Strongs to being useless. That almost made me quit the game and go back to 1. El Tigre Slime Strong Nair killing at 40 was not fun to watch. But yes this game is very well balanced and still has that *umph* that no other platfighter has. Definitely deserves more love.
Love this game. been playing it since Dec, a month after it launched. it had a rocky start, and was at times playing competitively a big pain. But they made it very well balanced, even the top tiers. When I play other plat fighters, I feel like there isn't as much cool fun things to learn with those characters. I played Rivals 2 Zetter for about 50 hrs. And then I was like "ok... now theres like nothing else to learn aside from getting better at the game in general." But the slime mechanics in NASB 2 can be used in so many fun creative ways which creates a whole world of uses. I still find new techs for Danny occasionally (always on complete accident) even after playing him for like 1000+ hrs. Competing in the game for a year now, the player base has barely grown, to a point where I got kinda bored competing. Thank you for shedding some light on the game, i hope it draws new people into the scene and along with it, more excitement and fun.
Ive been a strong advocate for this game in Socal. It’s rough when players won’t give the game a legit shot considering the history of NASB 1 + the price point but I don’t blame them. Thanks for the superb video Tafaar and here’s to hoping a legit offline scene will grow!
I remember before the game came out, I left a comment on the Rocko character showcase video saying watch all these influencers hype the game up, but then quickly lose interest. Choctopus responded, saying that's not true and that he's been anticipating the game's release. It's ironic that he said that because he literally doesn't play the game at all anymore. He (along with Hungrybox) and other influencers have pretty much moved on from the game, and they're back to playing Smash Bros. It just goes to show that the gaming community doesn't really care for other fighting games unless they're Tekken, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Smash Bros. I feel like if a NASB 3 releases later this year, they'll do the same routine. Hype the game up before its release. Play it for a couple of weeks, and then drop it. Wash, rinse, repeat. It just feels like most people don't have an interest in NASB for the long run. Tbh, the gaming community has always been weird towards other platform fighters and kart racers. I've been noticing that over the years. They feel like there's no point in playing kart racers or platform fighters outside of Smash and Mario Kart because those two games popularized the genre. In their minds, other platform fighters and kart racers don't offer the same amount of enjoyment that those games offer. I just find that boring af to just play one game in a whole genre, though 🤷♂️. I love MultiVersus, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, Roof Rage, Slap City, Brawlhalla, Brawlout, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway, Disney Speedstorm, Lego 2K Drive, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, F1 Race Stars, and Beach Buggy Racing 2: Island Adventure. My thing is no one feels like they should only play one shooter, platformer, rpg, or open world game, so I never understood the argument of only playing one platform fighter or kart racer.
Talk your shit bro🔥🔥🔥 hungrybox and these melee/ultimate RUclipsrs and players dropped nasb 2 instantly, they didn’t even bother giving the game a second chance
@dylanroiz5469 And, I wouldn't be surprised if they do the exact same thing if a NASB 3 drops later this year. I don't really see them uploading gaming videos for Rivals of Aether 2 or Fraymakers. Of course, smaller channels and streamers still are, but it just feels like bigger content creators don't care for other platform fighters for the long run. They'll just revert back to playing Smash and literally pretend like those other platform fighters don't exist. It's weird imo. I guess that's how people on the internet move. They'll bandwagon something just for the fuck of it when in actuality they truly don't care. Tbh, smaller content creators are the ones who still ride for these games and I'll applaud them for it. They're real af 👏.
Ngl I just need them to fix the camera and tone down the damn effects. It looks absolutely so bad to look at and it’s so hard to see people on certain stages
Like go to the pizza stage and stand on the platforms then go stand on a platform on PS2 in ultimate. It’s absolutely ridiculous how small everyone is. Everyone needs to be like 30% bigger, camera should come in like 25% more, and like 60% of all the effects, including the purple explosion on damn near every landed attack, needs to go.
I have a lot of respect for NASB2, personally one of the best in the genre imo as a full package. I'm a casual but I did play competitively for a little (im garbage), mostly stopped playing since the player pool declined so much online and (it felt like) the only people still playing were melee/nasb vets with no mercy or completely new players as well as no one doing 2v2s or casual (could only find a match in ranked if I was lucky). This is probably only geared towards only competitive players but it'd still be nice to see the player pool increase to be able to get actual matches.
Shoutout to the all-star plankton I played the other night that spent two and a half hours walking from one side of the stage to the next each and every time I tried to approach.
For me why (A level 1.5 out of 3 competitive platform fighter and a nasb 1 and 2 day oner) kinda dropped of from 2. The Switch version is bad optimization (disappointing since the 1st one ran perfectly sans the sports mode), story mode does not have enough bosses (Where's Mongo from Rugrats, Amon from Korra, Krang from Tmnt) shopkeepers, (phil and Lil from Rugrats) "worlds" (the zones you go to after you beat the world's boss It's always wilds, city, and space. Where’s ghost zones, spirit zone, underwater, etc) roguelike perks or curses and they can easily break the game in 2 (at least at the Mr. Krabs update) and enemy variety ( most likely the ones to just give you a status ailment. would've like to see the toy clown and dustbunnies from rugrats to slow you down and just obscure your vision, fire bender soldiers, etc.) This generally makes Story mode espically from repeated playthroughs repetitive fast. Tutorials on characters doesn’t go the Smash Ultimate route and give us a list on how certain stuff and quirks work. That's only saved for specials. Same for certain slime tech: Slime defense, Slime momentum stop. Also the status ailments and items etc. Not explained in game, look those up on youtube! And general presentation while improved needs more work. Voice lines override the length of the attack (Gertie's Up Air Strong), hit sound effects I feel just need more punch. And Perfect shield ESPICALLY needs better indication on when you... perfect shield. You barely hear/see anything when you perfect shield. And Enemy AI can be dumb at times. And probably why Nasb 2 didn't hook the Nasb 1 guys and if they ever get a NASB 3. It needs more prerelease marketing (besides character reveals when that itself was spoiled by the marketing) even if its just tweets. Like what's improved, hints to modes, stage previews, etc. Here's hoping Nickelodeon All Star Brawl rises again!
if the game somehow got a free weekend on steam for folks to give it a shot it'd help give people a chance but it is a hard ask to purchase even at discount for many who have been really enjoying Rivals 2/Melee/P+/HDR for a game they may literally play once and bounce off of. I'd love to see it grow of course I have no horse in the "NASB2 popularity" race but I find it a hard ask to buy unless it's on sale for $5 again, wishing I had the funds to buy it then lol it's been a hard 2024. Thanks for the vid I'm glad to hear folks are still having fun with it! :3
the input buffer shade 😭 i really like Rivals' idea of a 3-frame buffer. it allows for leniency without making everything free like Ultimate where combo routes are extremely optimized at even a novice level because of the 8-frames there. zero input buffer is why I don't really like Melee aside from the perma-tap jump (i'll just admit I'm not good enough to deal with either aspect lol). NASB2 is sick though and is honestly up there with Project M and Rivals 1 as the most crisp and fun to explore platform fighter mechanical infrastructures. plus... El Tigre... must I say more?? thanks for giving it a good word!
I really enjoyed NASB2 and I got to Master. It's just really, really hard to get Smash players to try a new game. I stopped playing once it started getting hard to find matches.
NASB2 is one of the best platform fighter experiences I've had and it's a damn shame the game did not take off. I might prefer it more than Rivals 2 but it's hard to say because that game is brand new and 2025 will probably be the year it shows how it will play going forward. It's hard to say what could have made NASB2 be more popular. The platform fighter market is dominated by Smash Bros and if others fall off even slightly after launch it can kill online matchmaking when there's just not enough active player pool. Main reason I don't go back to NASB2 is that online is super dead. Even in Rivals 1 I can find matches.
