      It can be somewhat sensitive on and off for up to a month but you should do a follow up with the dentist to check the filling if it’s still sensitive.

    Ill start with im not far from you in Columbia md and had a tooth filled 3 times because of this and the cavity started small. I honestly am upset and dont want to type everything out right now butr basically they used something to grind down the filling in between the tooth last time and now all of a sudden less then 6 months since my last cleaning i have a huge cavity in the tooth next to this one that needs a root canal where i never had any issue before. My new dentist said my old one could have missed it because of poor xrays etc. Its upsetting that I need a root canal without ever having known a cavity exists. I take pretty good care of my teeth, albiet not perfect but I dont understand why this happened. The old dentist also gave me a mouth guard that didnt fit right for clenching and said they couldnt adjust it( they recounted that statement last time i was their.) worried clenching and poor practice has caused more and more issue and that my mouth wont be healthy moving forward.

      A root canal is most likely needed. This type of pain will not go away on its own. Thankfully root canals aren't nearly as uncomfortable as they used to be. Call the dentist immediately and tell them.

    Hello, I just had my tooth filled last month. First few days I felt fine then started to notice the sensitivity when I had cold drinks, I went back in twice in past 2 weeks to get it reworked. My dentist said my cavity was really small she had no idea what caused my tooth to became sensitive after the filling, now she told me to wait 2 weeks before get checked up again. My tooth still only sensitive to cold, and I’m kinda worry 😢

    • @clarksvillecrossingdental
      @clarksvillecrossingdental  Год назад +1

      did the dentist do any adjustments to the filling to smooth it down? If so hopefully just waiting it out and using a sensitive toothpaste like sensodyne would be a good idea. If no adjustments were made and the toothpaste didn't work maybe go back in another two weeks to check again. Sorry that you're struggling, but don't worry we see this all the time.

      @@abcabcabcabc1020 I ended up went to the another dentist and got a second opinion, she suggested to get it redone. Once she did it, the sensitivity magically went away, I was so happy I didn't have to deal with this anymore. The dentist explained that my tooth had an old filling next to the new one, she thought that one might be leaked so she got it redone too. So, she concluded that what cause my tooth sensitivity was not the new filling it was the old filling that leaked, she guess my previous dentist did the new filling and compromised the old one but did not catch it. I don't want to say my previous dentist is incompetent, but I feel little upset that I went through all this if she figured it out at the beginning.

    Thank you. Another dentist on another different channel said that there should be zero pain after a filling which doesn’t really make sense since you are drilling and digging inside tooth so naturally it would be inflamed or sore after. I just got two deep cavities filled on my one side and the numbing hadn’t even wore off all the way but my gums and teeth are so sore and throbbing and hurt worse than when I had cavity open. I just wanted to know if normal or not. I really liked the dentist and her team and she filled a cubits on other side a month ago and I remembered hurting a lot the first day and some the following day but this time it’s even worse but I got multiple teeth worked on this time. I appreciate this info and will wait a day or so to see if improved. As a kid, my filled cavities never hurt but they were not as deep either. I was also concerned maybe I was having a reaction to the actual composite material. The pain is pretty bad.

    The doctor doesn't understand why Im feeling pain after removing the filling completely. One thing to note is that the nerve is now is little close to the top of the teeth.
