  • The theme for Jeff Halper’s June update is Israel’s technologies of oppression. It has developed ground-breaking surveillance systems that it uses to track Palestinians, restricting their freedom of movement and controlling their lives. Within East Jerusalem alone there are surveillance cameras situated every five metres. This system is tested on Palestinians and then sold to other countries as a means of repressing unwanted populations.
Israeli technology collects and stores information about every single Palestinian to a chilling effect. It uses facial recognition systems so all a soldier has to do is hold a phone to a Palestinian face and immediately information about that person and his/her family is downloaded - the person’s name, age, home location, occupation, names of family members, vehicle, security information, etc.
Jeff wrote about this subject in his book War Against the People: Israel, the Palestinians, and Global Pacification (Pluto Press 2015) and he was consulted for Amnesty’s new report Automated Apartheid on this subject which it released in May and which Jeff encourages everyone to read.

Incredible amount of lies, in 2022 Khalid Kabub a Israeli Arab judge was appointed to the Supreme Court of Israel. The same year the united Arab list a political party in Israel and the political wing of the southern branch of the Islamic movement joined the coalition governing the state of Israel. In Israel Jews Arabs are treated equally, the law and Israel prohibits discrimination unlike in the Palestinian held territories were Jews are not permitted to own property and Jews take their life in their hands if they enter area A which controls 90% of the Arab population under the rule of the Palestinian authority. Electronic surveillance methods are used in every western country in the world and also in countries in the east, to prevent terrorism, these measures are not unusual in this day and age. Getting on an airplane requires extensive identification and surveillance of any individual going onto community property especially airports and buildings. The narrator whose facts are completely wrong accuses Israel of something that every nation state in the world does, a double standard. 99% of terrorism comes from the Palestinian territories, Gaza under the rule of Hamas fires indiscriminately at Israeli civilians and uses their own civilians as a shield, this is a double war crime. Also missing from this individuals pontification is the fact that thousands of Arabs work every day in the state of Israel, they earn better pay than they would in any of the Arab controlled territories plus they’re entitled to health and pension benefits. In the Arab territories you can get a pension if you kill a Jew, not exactly a pathway to a Arab state or to a peaceful resolution.
