  • Welcome back to Wood 'n' Stuff w/ Steve French! I made this seesaw (teeter-totter) last December as a Christmas gift for two of our granddaughters. It's based on an Anna White plan ( ana-white.com/2012/05/plans/bi... ) but I made it even more durable by adding 6 extra parts that I feel should have been included in the original plans. I also shaped the seats to make them more friendly to small legs. I used Titebond III glue. In reality, you probably don't need glue at all, but I'll leave that for you to decide.
    Thank you very much for watching! Please take a moment to like, comment and share. Be sure to subscribe for lots more woodworking videos to come. Feel free to also check out my back library of videos.

    Hi Steve, I can't get over the point that you are a Grandparent! What did I do wrong to get these grey hairs and still no sign of Grandkiddies on their way yet! I love the see saw, it was well made and it seems very kiddy friendly! N.

      +Neil “Slugger” George Well I am getting lots of gray hairs. But I'm only 42. The 4 grandkids are from our two step-daughters. Technically, they're my wife's step-daughters and my step-step-daughters. I've know them since they were little kids, possibly longer than my wife has. Long story.

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  8 лет назад

      +JWAM Haha, that's a real possibility. There's a lower setting, which is how I set it up at their house. What is shown here is just my test assembly. And the picture in the thumbnail is in my driveway on Christmas day. I wasn't sure which height setting it would need when I set it up that morning. As shown, is the perfect "man-sized" setting. Two of us adults had a little ride on it to "test it".

    Excellent build and outdoor gift from a woodworking Grandpa! You "nailed it" that time. Has it gotten painted yet or just turned gray? What's next a treehouse? Thanks for sharing Steve.

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  8 лет назад

      +MRrwmac Thank you. It was left natural. It's pressure treated wood so at least it's got decent weather resistance.

    Nice seesaw. Did you paint it before giving it to the girls?

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  8 лет назад

      +James Rawlings No, it was left as raw [pressure treated] lumber. I thought about painting it but just didn't have enough time. I had a whole list of projects going and crunch time was rapidly approaching. Thank you for watching :)

    Great Project Steve! It's been a long time since I built anything with 2x lumber. Hey Steve do you have a shop separate from the house, it appears you have plenty of room to build?

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  8 лет назад

      +woodrat1952 Thank you, Sir! My shop is 1-1/2 bays of an attached 3-1/2 bay garage. Plus I use the middle bay for wood (and other stuff) storage. My wife's car gets most of the final bay. My shop, however, doesn't really have a lot of open floor space. 8-foot long projects like this push the limits of my build space.

    Hi Steve,
    How much would you recommend selling the See-saw for?

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  8 лет назад

      Hello, Sand Smith, sorry for the delayed response (I just now saw your question). Personally, I'd shoot for somewhere in the $175 - $225 range. But really, I'm not sure how much they would actually sell for. I certainly wouldn't accept less than $150.
      I actually get quite a few inquiries from people wanting to buy them from me. But they've all been out of town and shipping something like this would be very costly due to both size and weight. When my new shop is built, I'll be making one or two to try selling locally though.

      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  6 лет назад

      Sorry, I'm just now seeing this comment. It was in my "possible SPAM" folder. Sorry, I don't have plans with the modifications. The changes I made are visible in the video. I think the only things I really changed are that I added extra bracing in a few areas, such as at the base where the uprights attach. And possibly along the length of the arm, but it's been awhile so I can't recall. It seems like I added about 5 extra parts in total. But again, it's been awhile, so I apologize for not being very helpful.
      Thank you very much for watching. I really appreciate the support!

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff

      One 12 inch (1 foot, I think I misspoke in the video), two 2 foot, and one 3 foot.
