    My baby eventually wanted it from the tap only. She rejected all bottles.

    Which one would you recommend for a 6+ months old baby? Also would you suggest buying a plastic one or a glass one? Please suggest.

    • @TheBreastfeedingMama
      @TheBreastfeedingMama  13 часов назад

      For six months plus, I would still go with any of these. However, if baby is resistant, I would consider something like the honey bear straw cup. Many babies at this age can handle straws, sippy or open cups - amzn.to/4a4T4dv
      As far as plastic or glass goes, there are pros and cons to both. Some glass bottles have tested positive for led, but plastic has the issues of microplastics. I would go with whatever fits your budget :)

    I want to place an order for the Evenflo balance + but I see that there are different oz options on the website ( 4 oz, 5 oz, 6 oz). Which do you recommend ? Baby is due in a couple weeks! Thank you!!

      Which one did u end getting? They work for you?

      I would say 4-5 ounces. Most babies won't ever need more than that.

    I know you said that bottles that look like the nipple were “gimmicks” or whatnot but have you tried the new Emulait bottles with their new responsive flow valves and silicone?

    • @TheBreastfeedingMama
      @TheBreastfeedingMama  Месяц назад

      I do not like Emulait at all. I think they aren't great bottles and the nipples collapse really easily. I love people being innovative, but they miss the mark for sure.

    Thanks for the recommendation, just placed an order for the evenflo five ounces wide neck bottle .
    Meanwhile we have been using the hegen bottle with slow flow nipples , any thoughts on that ?
    We have tried a bunch of different ones including pigeons but baby didn’t like them and choked a lot on them .
    The problem with hegen though is that there is lots of swallowed air so burping is sometimes a nightmare. I suspect it’s because of suboptimal latch .
    Thanks for your input in advance!

      I am not super familiar with the Hegan bottles, but just taking a quick look - I think that the offset nature can be tricky. If a baby tucks their chin a lot, it might be beneficial. if it works for your baby, though, then that's fine. It's interesting your baby has trouble choking a lot. I'd be curious how the bottle is being fed and if there is other oral function issues going on. I know that this was 2 months ago, but if you'd like some additional support, I'd be happy to help - thebreastfeedingmama.com/book-a-consult

    What do you think about the boon Nursh nipples? I think they look like Comotomo, but I feel like they have a shorter nipple

    • @TheBreastfeedingMama
      @TheBreastfeedingMama  7 месяцев назад

      I love the idea of them but the slope of the nipple is still not my favorite. Very wide base and it doesn’t slope gradually. It overall has the same issues as the como tomo in that it encourages a lazy latch.

      Not a fan :) it’s flattened and it’s very tall with a strange transition to the base.

    What about comotomo bottles?

    • @TheBreastfeedingMama
      @TheBreastfeedingMama  9 месяцев назад +1

      I am not a fan of these because of the long nipple and non-gradual slope. This encourages straw-like breastfeeding, where the baby only hangs out on the nipple and sucks that way. Babies generally can't get a very deep latch on them as well.

    How do you feel about MAM

    • @TheBreastfeedingMama
      @TheBreastfeedingMama  Месяц назад +1

      it's not the worst bottle out there, and I think for certain babies it can be good
      option (such as babies that have a narrow gap, might do more straw sucker) . however, I don't feel that it encourages a wide gape, and the flattened nature of it encourages flattening of the breast nipple, too. But as always - if it works for your family, I'm not going to tell you to change things : )

    What about the Avent bottle?

    • @TheBreastfeedingMama
      @TheBreastfeedingMama  7 месяцев назад +3

      They aren't the worst bottle - the nipple shape isn't my favorite, and it can be a fast flow (even with the slow flow). But I like it more than some bottles. I will say that there was a change in one of the bottles (I think the natural flow), and the flow is TOO slow - as in, a baby will be bottle feeding for an hour and not get a thing. So I would be careful with that.
