    Thank you so much! Had my last round for the season today and played great! The deep breathing made a big difference, especially from 100 yds and in, where I tend to swing slower. Keep the videos coming :) Regards Sindre

    You mentioned Jason Day.. after the year he's had I think he's been more noticed by many, and those of took notice of things he does.
    I started the breathing about 2months ago and it does help calm and relax your body.
    great advice Pete. Thanks :)

    I really believe this will set the tone for your shot, because I notice when my body feels relaxed the shot has a much better result. This could also partly explain how people cannot bounce back after bad shots. Man Peter can't wait to try this!!
    I seems like the more subs you are getting the more focused your content becomes!! Great vid Peter ... I'll reply with my results.

      ***** Alrighty .. so I tried this on the range and for a sunsetting nine holes (with punched greens might I add). This going to take some getting used to, but I can see the the value. Especially if we are to get our timing right in our golf swing.

    Great instructional video on a subject not discussed very often. I don't know I find myself holding my breath as I initiate my golf swing and I am hoping adopting your breathing techniques will help improve my game in the long run!

    Thanks for the tips Peter. In my set up I approach it like I did with weights. Take a breathe and hold it, then release after the swing. I'm wondering if this was actually a negative for my game. I'll be trying this on Saturday.

    Good stuff Pete. One question: Full or empty lungs for the actual shot itself?

    i like the approach you are taking as well cause there is more to a golf swing then just swinging a club. I have an MS is psychology and work teaching kids how to control their emotions. i have started using calming techniques in my preshot and waggle and get a great result most of the time. Especially off the tee. now if i can only remember to do that in my short game. not a very confident part. but when i feel confident in the shot walking up to a chip and i dont have the "Oh No" thought i get a better result. it aint perfect but its better.

    hi Peter a really nice video good topic. I like the format these videos that you're coming out with lately. I think a really great topic would be how you prepare mentally for a competitive round. and how you maintain that throughout the round. keep up the good work. thanks for the vidoes

    Excellent video, I tend to hold my breath a lot when playing and I feel it's causing a loss of energy

    I tried this today on the 17th when i had a clear run, I hit four 6 iron shots with lungs full and holding my breath & none of them went well. I then hit four more with this example and lungs empty, all four were struck clean and within 10 yards of the hole ! I tried the same methods on the 18th and my drive was hit perfectly and middle of fairway, my second shot was again a 6 iron and landed 3 feet away from the hole. I think my breathing has massively affected my game before.

    Great video as always Pete... Gonna try this next time mate... I figure that if i hold my breath for about 1 hour it will greatly improve my game for sure :-) atb Dixie

    I'd never thought much about breathing in terms of golf before but it seems obvious once you say it.

    Great topic. Wasn't clear on whether you were exhaled as opposed to inhaled as you struck the ball, however. I guess you would be more relaxed if you had just exhaled.

      +Erik Hemmingsson exhaled but I'm trying both out at the moment

    My mates pre shot routine appears to take about 7 hours.... Taking my knowledge from weight lifting holding a breath in helps to support the core (for squats and deadlifts) by supporting the upperback due to having the lung filled with air. Could having your breath in reduce flexibility or aid support on the golf swing?

    • @peterfinchgolf
      @peterfinchgolf  8 лет назад +1

      +streamleazefishhouse possibly but i always want people to test and try for themselves

    Do you breathe quieter when you breath?

  • @ribusgan
    @ribusgan 4 года назад

    Breathing is VERY VERY important! Doubtless!
    But does one try to "control" it, or just be aware/ mindful of it?

    I start to breathe out though the nose gently at the start of the shot to avoid holding my breath and becoming tense
