Awesome review! I just recently purchased a Mazda CX-5. It doesn't have a Skyactiv-D engine, but I love driving it. I hope the Diesel makes it to the USA market one day, hopefully in my lifetime.
So as an American driver of the 2.5L Touring Model I have to say that you really nailed most of my complaints. I also don't like the display in the center of the dash. My 2016.5 has the integrated system so it's not so obvious to the outside world. As I am 6'4, I found myself having to remind myself that my car is one version back and doesn't have the same set up as this 2018. My center armrest is a joke because the shape is just odd and not usable, even though I sit back as far as the seat will take me. Rear seat legroom is almost unusable behind me, so only my shortest friends can sit there and even then I have to adjust a little to make it okay. We don't have the diesel here and I wish we did. The 185 hp unit mated to the garbage 6-speed automatic (no manual available in Touring or with the 2.5L engine here) is useless unless you manually shift or use the 'Sport' mode which creates some psycho shift pattern where it doesn't shift unless you are above 4k RPM. Handling, braking, ride quality and my BOSE sound system are amazing. Otherwise, no good. It's a lease so it's going back for sure at the end.
That slot located at the back seat arm rest is for heated seat control for US and European specs...great video and very honest review. This is a great car very elegant and yet not that expensive compact SUV. I love this diesel variant as it has more torque than the gas version. Fantastic ride.
was preparing to buy this car last week, it's still a fine car anyway, up until I see the all new Peugeot 3008 yesterday. Simply in another league...my 5cents
Malaysians buyers considering an suv and have a little more to spend should seriously consider cx-5. Currently CKD. Neither cr-v nor x70 comes close to this car despite the price differences. The design alone is worth the extra money.
"It's almost intuitive once you get used to it"... Surely the meaning of the word intuitive is that it comes naturally and doesn't need getting used to!
Lowering the diesel CR doesn't reduce friction. But it does allow the use of lighter, "gasoline engine" internal components. THAT reduces both friction and inertia. It also makes the engine run smooth and quiet. Above all, it reduces NOx emissions, which are the bane of diesels. However, Mazda still intends to use urea injection in the U.S. if they ever bring the diesel here. (Which I don't think will ever happen. They've been talking about it for years.)
I'm a frequent paddle shifter user, just because of that I'm quite a bit considering other brand too. I think Mazda should come with an optional package on that.
Trust the viewers on the looks. They will make their own judgements as far as looks are concerned. Please include the dimensions of the car: length, width, wheelbase and fuel tank capacity. Yes fuel tank capacity + fuel consumption figures for the 2.2l diesel awd.
Is there no Heads Up Display, 10 Bose speaker, power tailgate and sunroof for the Malaysian market?

Chung Siang Choo it seems, that the specs are missing these features. I am very happy that our Thai CX-5 has these features (and the sun/moon roof). The adaptive cruise control is really great for long trips.
Jürg Hölzle yeah I took delivery of my 2.5 Petrol GT AWD (oz spec) a few weeks back, and I've been enjoying the drive! Did almost 1000kms in a week! The HUD is so vital in keeping eyes on the road and agree with you on the cruise control! Hopefully these will be included as standard options when CKD units become available in Malaysia.
good neutral review ej. just asking vs the forester, new direct injection, symmetrical awd. which is the best from nvh, comfort & handling. especially for long distance, cruising and on bad in other words rough roads. tqvm
Forever L Kia Sportage Diesel not a bad choice though but the steering is a bit dead. Not much feedback but overall is okay. At the moment contemplating either Mazda or Pug since 2 of this is the nearest contender for me.
Archangel 28 well for me, it depends on luck. I’ve owned Pug 208 GTi since 2013 and so far no major problem arises apart from minor hiccups. Yeah the service centre is a bit slow but they try their best to help me. If I think they’re unable to help me, there’s always outside specialist that can sort me out of that as long you’re not relying on one source. If you say about reliability, heck even my 430i M Sport broke down more than my Pug. Not everything is perfect though. I know the risk of continental car, but I’ll go with it due to the design and driving dynamic . Cheers
Forever L hahaha I know . Owned Hyundai Santa Fe diesel before . And I did a remap also. The power is monsterrr. Yeah. In terms of cabin and NVH, Pug 3008 is top notch. For handling and power, CX5 is a winner. Yeah, I need to think again lots of time. By the way, the waiting time for Pug and CX5 almost 2-3 month, SA said due to high demand . Hot damn.
Archangel 28 to be frank, it seems you keep opposing brand that you dislike. No one forced you to buy if you don’t. Choice matters. You want to buy, go for it. You don’t, there’s always be another brand to pick with. You get what you paid for.
I have my eyes on this one alright. only thing is Sabah price is 177k XD but slowly ill get to it. am very sure bout it and the mileage per full tank is promising.
Body of the new Mazda CX-5 is still NOT GALVANISED and therefore will rust like hell, the front overhang looks like it will dive into the road at any time. Otherwise it is OK.
Hai autobuzz, can you make a comparison between cx5, crv and xtrail? Tq, im an accountant in construction company which requires going on site.. so im looking for this segment car for 4x4 and comfortable city cruising as i have son now
xiper86 oh,I never thought about it... Subaru forester quite a good suv I reckon? How about the fuel consumption, I mainly choose like the current CrV and CX5 because I love their fuel efficiency despite of their are AWD or 4x4... I owned a Mitsubishi pajero 2.8 intercooler before, my gosh, I used rm50 fuel diesel only for 1 day and its finish, thats why I looking for midsize SUV with good fuel consumption, fullsize SUV like fortuner I skipped because manoeuvre around city KL is hassle..
Travis Chang thank you, ill visit the showroom this weeknd ohh.. I actually don't need a big cargo area as I have isuzu dmax for this task but midsize SUV is crucial for me as I will use it in town for easy manoeuvre and if I suddenly on-call duty I can get directly Into construction site using that SUV.. how about power? I heard the new crv 1.5turbo AWD quite a downsize compare to Cx5?
@@clarencechoe1929 True. I visited Mazda and Honda same day to compare the interior. CR-V driving position might have provided better support for the elbows but that was about it about the whole car. The trunk is much bigger in the CR-V but then so is the whole car. Mazda offers better interior, more features and much better visibility.
AutoBuzz.my some reviewers gave negative oppinion and some gave positive . us consumer report has different says. whatcars autotraders topgear etc etc from 4 to 5 stars?
Jamaican Me Crazy that is true but it sucks to spend even more on something that's already there. I'll probably go aftermarket after a year of having the vehicle.
This car is way to small centre are rest needs to be longer aswell... The previous 3008 was like the Tardis inside but lacking in modern teck. The newer 3008 is AWSOME they went five steps forward in design & tech but went eight steps back in the size & space.... Makes you want to kick the designers in the crotch.... Nice review though
Jonny Jones well some you win some you don’t. I’m also contemplating either CX5 nor 3008. Interior wise 3008 win hands down. Handling and performance goes to CX5.
Very relaxed, natural and detailed review... You doesn't sound script reading. Good job Eu Jin! 🤘👍👍
Awesome review! I just recently purchased a Mazda CX-5. It doesn't have a Skyactiv-D engine, but I love driving it. I hope the Diesel makes it to the USA market one day, hopefully in my lifetime.
Excellent review mate.
190hp and 450Nm now :-)
Picking mine up today, in this fantastic colour too!
Eu Jin is so natural. I hardly believe that this is his first full review of a car. Excellent Job.
Batman sock, and captain america shield phone cover.
This is a very ambitious crossover
Finally something fresh after Matthew left, good one keep it up!
gonna buy this CX-5 for my first car :) thanks for the superb review
My first car is also a cx5.it's very fun to drive.😁
Hello from the UK. Brilliant review, you made it so interesting. Love the outtakes at the end. Nice car too.
I lost it at 8.20. This car is damn funny hahaha yet the review delivers very detailed informations. Keep up!!
Excellent. SOLD. Just bought one!
Really enjoyed the review. Lots of personal opinion but they’re backed with factual insights that made a lot of sense
Finally a presenter with natural expressions
Good job Eu Jin. You reviewed nice and steady! I wish a CX-5 can be mine. One day...
Very nicely presented Eu Jin, natural and just good enough detail without bla bla.. well done... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
i love your english brother and a great review
Mazda all the way!!! ❤️❤️ Mazda Rocks!
Excellent review many thanks from England
Superb review. Hope to see more review from you!

Sorry for the wrong torque figure peeps! I'll make sure i recheck the numbers 2589 times before releasing the video next time :)
That slot located at the back seat arm rest is for heated seat control for US and European specs...great video and very honest review. This is a great car very elegant and yet not that expensive compact SUV. I love this diesel variant as it has more torque than the gas version. Fantastic ride.
I wanted to buy that Batman socks instead of the CX-5
Do you have to use the expensive Euro 5 diesel for this car? Or will it run without long term problems with the cheaper diesel?
Dat batman socks, so much loveeeee
Hafiz Johar Batman forever
Impressive review. It's like you are talking to friends, very natural but full of important detail.
so gladly that Mazda still had the correct tiptronic lever direction (downshift by pushing up lever, upshift by pulling down the lever)
Very details explanation. Good reviews
Very cool.. I like the way u did the review
Nice review. One suggestion.. u also can mention the FC figure
Mine the old model can get get 25km/liter
Nice review Eu Jin.. you did your homework well.. just like you own this cx5.. kipidap
was preparing to buy this car last week, it's still a fine car anyway, up until I see the all new Peugeot 3008 yesterday. Simply in another league...my 5cents
Awesome review! Fun yet informative! Keep it up!
Very good review. Much better than PT. very natural. Kudos and keep up
Loved your review

"It's almost intuitive once you get used to it"... Surely the meaning of the word intuitive is that it comes naturally and doesn't need getting used to!
The sill at the back was actually for seat heater control for overseas market
paddle shifter important in hills and curvy roads!
I hit like as soon as i saw the batman socks😂

You can pick this up (old version)same price as base spec new cx-5
great review... if only all reviews are like yours.. any idea whether the 7-seater cx-5/cx8 will be coming to msia?
Lima Charlie we have the cx9, so no cx8. That is the Japanese equivalent
What would be the recommendation? 2 WD or AWD? For such torque, was the 2WD able to withstand? No tyre spins?
Nice cinematography there
The rest ok except the touch screen jolting out an supposed situated on the face of the dashboard like crv or tiguan
Fantastic review.. and super entertaining :) Cheers.
Thanks 4 this review! May I ask if the car colour is in Machine gray or meteor gray?
I'm a frequent paddle shifter user, just because of that I'm quite a bit considering other brand too.
I think Mazda should come with an optional package on that.

No power tail gate?
Excellent review. Good host too
Gc mah should be the one review this.
Hi you got the torque figure wrong @ 15:07
+xavierlert OMG. Yes you're right! Thanks for pointing it out. It should be 420Nm. Sorry about that.
Just like the 200hp myvi last time
😅
Mohd. Radzli Rahman 😂
no prob :) , owned turbo diesel suv myself, torque figure really caught my eye.
Is there no Heads Up Display, 10 Bose speaker, power tailgate and sunroof for the Malaysian market?

This CX-5 is already CKD
Yeah. That’s a big letdown. I wanted the Bose speaker & power tailgate though. Sunroof not necessarily for me.
Hi thanks for the good review. Really like the roads! Could you share the location?
good neutral review ej. just asking vs the forester, new direct injection, symmetrical awd. which is the best from nvh, comfort & handling. especially for long distance, cruising and on bad in other words rough roads. tqvm
is this 2018 or 2019! I dont think Canada has this trim! Turbo diesel!
What is the fuel consumption of this diesel variant?
nice review!!should have done sensing test and little offroad test to make it better
screamao next one!
The correct torque is 420Nm, not 540Nm as stated.
very nice review.
Good job. Eu Jin
Excellent review - covers most of the main bullet points. Thanks for sharing!
how bout the availability of euro 5 diesel in malaysia ?
Nice one ej
means a lot coming from u guys!
Hi Eu Jin... mind to share how you tested the SCBS in video 0400 scene?
C.H.Wong Co put to drive, let speed climb to 20-30km/h and be very brave haha.. leg should be on standby by brake pedal
Is the colour machine grey?
Yong Kah Seng yes machine grey
Yong Kah Seng i like d color

'For someone who usually suffers on a AirAsia flight'.
the batman sock with lacoste shoes in one frame, and onitsuka tiger in the whole review hehe
muhamad afiq nazmi The tiger got “worn out” by the time we shot the close up, so used the crocodile haha
Love the review and the interesting accent. Am I hearing some west African influence coming through, or am I imagining it?
R T definitely imagining it
Centre rear seat drop is not for scolding kids. It’s for ski.
Boot space is 445 or 506 ?
Oh you changed your watch mid way through the review haha
My watch changes it appearance randomly
Please please review the mitsubishi xpander vs toyota rush
I agree with his opinion of "piano black" trim. It looks good only if you polish it every day. 99% of the time it's smudged and crappy looking.
very nice car with very handsome reviewer..lol
Either this nor Pug 3008. Sigh hard choices though.

@AutoBuzz.my is it 540nm or 420nm of torque ? Plzz clarify
+Adam Wafiy it is 420Nm not 540Nm. Sorry about that.
I have my eyes on this one alright. only thing is Sabah price is 177k XD but slowly ill get to it. am very sure bout it and the mileage per full tank is promising.
i like the way you review it. nice!
540nm ?? At the end of video
Wei! don't jump on the leather seat! HAHAHA
kbs yuri must take care of that leather
You mention it's 420nm but the last spec list mention 540nm max. Which is correct.
+Moments it should be 420Nm. Not 540Nm. Sorry about that.
No problem. We all makes mistake. On the side note 540nm is achievable via reflash ECU.
Body of the new Mazda CX-5 is still NOT GALVANISED and therefore will rust like hell, the front overhang looks like it will dive into the road at any time. Otherwise it is OK.

Fabius Irvan Fabian Abron CRV is a better all rounder, more so if u need space. However, if u like driving more, the cx5 is the one to go.
if u need to go offroad/muddy area, I think the Forester is a better option.

Glc200 review please
Next Toyota Harrier 2018 ?? 😭💪🏻
+Darnish Aimiel looking forward to the new harrier from UMW Toyota!
AutoBuzz.my thank youu✌🏻👍🏻
Forget the car, where can i get the batman socks?
SOXWORLD
SOXWORLD
Eu Jin, how tall are you? Just wanna get some idea while you seating at the back.
Francis Ho 180 cm bro
That "2.2.G.L.S." emblem in the back looks HIDEOUS. Mazda Malaysia did not have to do that lol
No Honda fanboys coming in to say Mazda no resale value?
Kelvin Hii im expecting "why no 7 seater" for every mid size suv video.
Honda boys would be moronic look at the built quality of Mazda cars compared to theirs.
@@clarencechoe1929 True. I visited Mazda and Honda same day to compare the interior. CR-V driving position might have provided better support for the elbows but that was about it about the whole car. The trunk is much bigger in the CR-V but then so is the whole car.

A like for the ears in the batman socks
I wonder why review here differ from reviewers from uk and us? However mazda red color really great
+ANAK WATAN what do you mean different?
ANAK WATAN to accommodate our tropical climate 😂😂
AutoBuzz.my some reviewers gave negative oppinion and some gave positive . us consumer report has different says. whatcars autotraders topgear etc etc from 4 to 5 stars?
Different reviewer had different perspectives. So far autobuzz pointed it correctly.
ashraf fendy You claimed reviewers have own oppinion , hence you pointed out autobuzz correct? Was that contradict ?
Where is GC Mah??
HC GC Mah is always around
i liked this video bcs we have the same socks ❤️
Real men wear cartoon socks
I like u man... u should start a show😂
Damn. A Batman fan...smfh
what happened to jenny ?
we want jenny !!! with his red tube dress
Wheels look proportionately small
Jamaican Me Crazy This because of the 2-tone colour scheme. I didn’t likes it first, but I looks great on the white CX-5;(we own).
Jürg Hölzle ahhh k
Jamaican Me Crazy I have the same exact car... They should have put 20s on it at least. This Grand Touring trim is fitted with 19s.
Matthew Moscotto I fully agree. I think they did it for comfort. But aesthetically it's just a little off. But there's always aftermarket
Jamaican Me Crazy that is true but it sucks to spend even more on something that's already there. I'll probably go aftermarket after a year of having the vehicle.
