    I use an old android phone that I repurposed as a lav recorder. You can sync the audio in post. It gives me more freedom to move around. The best app to use on android is ASR. You can record at a larger bit-rate and heaps of formats WAV, FLAC, MP3 etc. It will give you a massive improvement to your video audio. I thought about a wireless Rode receiver but honestly my current method works exceptionally well. Thanks for the review, the PP sounds good, better than the Rode IMO.

    Hey Carson,
    This was so great to see an outdoor mic like this. I am definitely interested in purchases it. I could use your advice - a friend and I, who are completely amateurs when it comes to tech like this so learning as we go, are interested in recording ourselves having a conversation (interview) while walking around outside. We want a mic that records us together so two lavs but one connector(?) and a mic to interview other people we meet while walking. What do you recommend we do in order to be able to have three mics essentially, one for each of us to record each other talking together, another mic for whenever someone else is buy or recording outdoor sounds, and an app or device to record it and upload it to edit and cut? let me know if you have any question! thank you so much for taking time to help a newbie out :)

    Great job on the review Carson. How well does it sound while holding the mic itself about an arms length away? I'm wanting to use it for vlogging while hiking, but don't like wearing them on my collar like you don't. I want a lav mic because of the price and being lightweight. My plan is to keep the cord wrapped tight and just let the mic hang or ride somehow on the camera...just wondering how well it would still pick up my voice while holding out in the "vloggers" pose?
    Thanks again for the review

    • @carsonmtech
      @carsonmtech  6 лет назад +1

      Lav mics really are more meant to be right by you and if you use it at a further length away, you really would be introducing more sounds than you want...I’ve tried using it before as not attached to my shirt but the results aren’t at all good so if you’re planning on just using a lav mic like in your situation, I would suggest purchasing a Rode VideoMicro which is probably one of the best budget shotgun mics out there. It’s perfect for mounting on a camera and then being used at further distances! I used it in this video at some points and a lot of my other videos with great results. 10/10 would recommend that over a lav mic setup for vlogging!
      Hope this helps!

    I want it to use in vlogs outdoors, but don't you think is weird to vlog with the lavalier microphone ? Thanks :(

    A quick question please. I plan to use this with a cheap smart phone. What is the best sound recording software to use, or is it just the built in sound recorder?

    Are you still using the mic and is it holding up ok?

    The Purple Panda sounds muffled in comparison to the Rode. I'd choose the Rode here.

      really? the purple sounds clear - but the rode is picking up a lot more than his voice (granted it still sounds great)

      MIKAL....You must be deaf because the Purple Panda sounded 100% better then that Rode mic.

    Earned a Sub and great editing would have used your link to buy if you had the UK shopfront for your link.

    Wish the lav mic picked up more of the high tones in voices. It sounds extremely bassy and slightly muffled when compared to the rhode mic

    Awesome review man! I am going to order this via Amazon Canada right now. Your referral link must only work for US Amazon because it's a dead webpage. Anyway, your review sold it for me. Thank you, Carson!

      I’m so glad I could help! Also, I appreciate you trying to use my affiliate link but they do indeed not work currently in other countries other than the united states :(. I hope to get international links in the future!

      I should get it later this week. My channel is a dead zone. I just don't have the time or heart for it anymore. I am hoping to make some more content in the future.
