TK and his band are awesome. In his song "Katharsis" (also solo project) is a passage before the key change where he jumps from high notes, to belting, to screaming in seconds. He has incredible control over his voice which makes him also awesome in a live setting. He actually performed another song on The First Take called "copy light" which is arguably even more emotional. I like it even better than the recorded version. Another recommendation would be his solo performance of his bands song "Missing Ling" for his "Acoustique Electrick Session". However, you may get in trouble for copyright for this one but maybe it's fine.
Because you asked about how the music fits into the anime: Unravel is the opening theme of the anime Tokyo Ghoul, a quite dark and depressing show. The main character gets turned into a ghoul. A human eating monster. But he is only half ghoul and thus struggles with keeping his humanity while living with his ghoul side. The lyrics of this song reflect how he tries to push away all who are dear to him bc he is afraid he will hurt them. The world puts him through immense and gruesome trials until he almost looses himself. In the end he unravels everything he was holding back and finally accepts who he is.
I love the first take version because I can feel the emotion more with the way it was shot on the first take and the acoustic feel to it. Nearly cried watching this.
There isn't an opening theme of ANY show that pairs with the show itself any better. It was one of my favorite shows the first time I watched it, but I make no exaggeration in saying the theme song and listening to it for so many years has pulled me back into watching the show over and over and has made it possibly my favorite show of all time. It's certainly the show I have watched the most without question. I listen to the song by itself and I can just picture Ken Kaneki (the protagonist) and the things that happens in the show popping back into my mind like a literal flash back that they show in every movie or show that has ever been made. Great response. I love seeing others appreciate something that I have loved for many years.

To me, the song speaks so heavily on someone who is forced to deal with the hardest pains of living yet he doesn't want to ruin anything or anyone around him. He knows he only hurts and ruins things so he pushes them away with saying don't look at me, don't come find me. The world has taken its toll on this person to such an extent he is no longer what he used to be. This just parallels the MC's journey as he to was dealt a terrible hand and instead of going with it he accepted it and pushed all of his friends away to cope with it becoming way different than his normal self. I honestly relate to this song so heavily as have I had to deal with so many terrible hardships and things that have changed me from who I used to be. Its hard for me to find the same happiness or love in things I used to. I have become bitter and overall angry with the world. I also push my family and friends away as far as I can from the one true me. I am scared to be alone but I isolate. Its a very weird feeling. I just want people to remember me as I used to be. Not who I am now. Love your videos btw :) cheers
But you have to know that your value to the people who love you are not on the memories you offered them only, being present is also important you don't have to do anything for them, but your presence itself is very valuable, and I'm talking from the point of view of someone who had the same problem and still fighting these thoughts, I have these days where I really can't do it and the day blazes through while I'm stuck in that fram of mind battling my depression and dissatisfaction of everything I used to find enjoyable, but I always try to get out and create these moments and memories for my family's sake, since it's not their fault I've become like this. Even if they were a big part of the reason, they ultimately don't know just how much their actions which they consider as normal could determine somebody's self worth and, their negligence is going to be the cause of tragedies for an abuser and the victim .. I know nothing I've said makes sense but, at least listen to me in this regard , you have to try your best to have quality time with your family since when you grow older and they are gone or you can't even visit them for some reason or the other, you won't have as much regret in your heart.

After watching this video for the fifth time, I realized you might not know what the anime was about. So to simplify it it’s about a human boy who receives an organ transplant from a ghoul. The whole anime is about him fighting his new need to eat human flesh. Now I promise this doesn’t spoil anything. There’s so much more to the story but it explains why the song goes up and down. It’s the duality. HUMAN vs GHOUL.
Hello!! Love your reactions to The First Take. Highly recommend CHANMINA’s Bijin. Also in Tokyo Ghoul: MC Kaneki Ken is a quiet boy, and is somewhat of a pacifist. He is in an accident and is turned into a half ghoul, and in a world where ghouls and humans are enemies, he is forced question his place in the world. The extended version of this song also plays durning the scene in which Kaneki’s best friend, Hide, reveals that he knew about Kaneki’s ghoul nature. Hide overheard the CCG (ghoul hunters/police) planning attack on group of ghouls who took Kaneki in (they are peaceful), and Hide went to look for Kaneki, and found him unconscious and injured. Hide dragged Kaneki to safety and tells him how he knew the whole time, and that Kaneki was still just his childhood best friend. It’s then revealed Hide was wounded in the cross fire (it is implied that CCG shot him) and he bleeds out in Kaneki’s arms. The song plays as Kaneki carries Hide towards the CCG, choosing to fight them, knowing he will likely lose.

Hello Andy, I just found your channel. I watched a bunch of your First take reactions and I have a request for you. Please react to BABYMETAL - Monochrome piano version on the first take. If you haven't heard of BABYMETAL they are a Japanese girl metal band and they have been around for about 13 years. But I assure you they are not your average metal band. They invented their own genre called "Kawaii Metal", literally cute metal. Don't let that throw you off though, the piano version is not metal at all but is very soft and heartfelt. The song Monochrome is quite an emotional song for me, especially the piano version. If you listen to the original version first, please record that reaction also. You could release both versions or do it as a double header! as both version are VERY different. Suzuka, the lead singer is from Hiroshima and her ancestors were survivors of the atom bombing. The song itself is believed to be about that bombing, as when the nuclear bomb went off it turned the sky monochrome.. The song does have a sad feel to it, but it's more a message of hope and positivity. Thank you, I really hope you check it out!

Hello Andy, I just found your channel. I watched a bunch of your First take reactions and I have a request for you.
Please react to BABYMETAL - Monochrome piano version on the first take. If you haven't heard of BABYMETAL they are a Japanese girl metal band and they have been around for about 13 years. But I assure you they are not your average metal band. They invented their own genre called "Kawaii Metal", literally cute metal. Don't let that throw you off though, the piano version is not metal at all but is very soft and heartfelt.
The song Monochrome is quite an emotional song for me, especially the piano version. If you listen to the original version first, please record that reaction also. You could release both versions or do it as a double header! as both version are VERY different.
Suzuka, the lead singer is from Hiroshima and her ancestors were survivors of the atom bombing. The song itself is believed to be about that bombing, as when the nuclear bomb went off it turned the sky monochrome.. The song does have a sad feel to it, but it's more a message of hope and positivity.
